Although many agents for acute ischemic stroke treatment have been developed from extensive preclinical studies, most have failed in clinical trials. As a result, researchers are seeking other methods or agents based on previous studies. Among the various prospective approaches, vascular protection might be the key for development of therapeutic agents for stroke and for improvements in the efficacy and safety of conventional therapies. Traditional medicines in Asian countries are based on clinical experiences and literature accumulated over thousands of years. To date, many studies have used traditional herbal medicines to prove or develop new agents based on stroke treatments mentioned in traditional medicinal theory or other clinical data. In the current review, we describe the vascular factors related to ischemic brain damage and the herbal medicines that impact these factors, including Salviae Miltiorrhizae Radix, Notoginseng Radix, and Curcumae Rhizoma, based on scientific reports and traditional medical theory. Further, we point out the problems associated with herbal medicines in stroke research and propose better methodologies to address these problems.

AIM： To investigate prevalence of C/onorchis sinensis in patients with gastrointestinal symptoms, and the relation of the infection to hepatobiliary diseases in 26 hospitals in Korea. METHODS： Consecutive patients who had been admitted to the Division of Gastroenterology with gastrointestinal symptoms were enrolled from March to April 2005. Of those who had been diagnosed with clonorchiasis, epidemiology and correlation between infection and hepatobiliary diseases were surveyed by questionnaire. RESULTS： Of 3080 patients with gastrointestinal diseases, 396 （12.9%） had clonorchiasis and 1140 patients （37.2%） had a history of eating raw freshwater fish. Of those with a history of raw freshwater fish ingestion, 238 （20.9%） patients had clonorchiasis. Cholangiocarcinoma was more prevalent in C. sinensis-infected patients than nonnfected patients [34/396 （8.6%） vs 145/2684 （5.4%）, P = 0.015]. Cholangiocarcinoma and clonorchiasis showed statistically significant positive cross-relation （P = 0.008）. Choledocholithiasis, cholecystolithiasis, cholangitis, hepatocellular carcinoma, and biliary pancreatitis did not correlate with clonorchiasis. CONCLUSION： Infection rate of clonorchiasis was still high in patients with gastrointestinal diseases in Korea, and has not decreased very much during the last two decades. Cholangiocarcinoma was related to clonorchiasis, which suggested an etiological role for the parasite.

目的:探讨精氨酸-甘氨酸-天冬氨酸(RGD)肽涂层微种植体在不同愈合时间时骨组织中Ⅰ型胶原(ColⅠ)和骨钙蛋白(OC)表达水平的变化,阐明RGD肽涂层对微种植体骨整合的促进作用。方法:选取6只成年雄性Beagle犬,将36枚微种植体分为2组,实验组为RGD肽涂层微种植体,对照组微种植体表面未做处理(n=18)。采用随机对照原则,在第0、4、6周时分别在Beagle犬上颌骨左、右侧植入区(第2、第3、第4前磨牙根分叉区域随机选取任一部位)各植入1枚种植体,一侧为实验组,对侧为对照组。实验第8周时处死动物,获得愈合时间为2、4和8周的微种植体-骨组织标本,行HE及免疫组织化学染色,并检测微种植体周围骨组织中ColⅠ和OC的表达情况。结果:HE染色,实验组与对照组均显示有一定的成骨反应,愈合2和4周时,实验组与对照组比较骨组织表现为较强的成骨反应,8周时骨反应趋于一致,均可见板层状骨组织。实验组微种植体周围骨组织中ColⅠ和OC表达水平在2和4周时高于对照组(P0.05)。实验组愈合4周时微种植体周围骨组织中ColⅠ表达水平高于2和8周时,且差异有统计学意义(P0.05)。结论:RGD肽涂层能够提高微种植体周围骨组织中ColⅠ和OC的表达,其在促进微种植体初期骨整合过程中起重要作用。

Objectives:This study was conducted to investigate the current status of handoffs,perception of patient safety culture,and degrees of handoff evaluation in small and medium-sized hospitals and identified factors that make a difference in handoff ***:This is a descriptive study.425 nurses who work at small and medium-sized hospitals in South Korea were included in our *** completed a set of self-reporting questionnaires that evaluated demographic data,handoff-related characteristics,perception of patient safety culture,and handoff ***:Results showed that the overall score of awareness of a patient safety culture was 3.65±0.45,the level was *** score of handoff evaluation was 5.24±*** nurses experienced errors in handoff and most nurses had no guidelines and checklist in the *** evaluation differed significantly according to the level of education,work patterns,duration of hospital employment,handoff method,degree of satisfaction with the current handoff method,errors occurring at the time of handoff,handoff guidelines,and appropriateness of handoff education time(P<0.05).Conclusion:For handoff improvement,guidelines and standards should be *** is necessary to develop a structured handoff education *** formal handoff education should be implemented to spread knowledge uniformly.

AIM: To determine the prevalence and risk factors of work-related musculoskeletal disorders in gastrointestinal endoscopists in Korea. METHODS: A survey of musculoskeletal symptoms, using a self-administered questionnaire, was conducted on 55 endoscopists practicing in general hospitals or health promotion centers. RESULTS: Forty-nine (89.1%) endoscopists reported musculoskeletal pain on at least one anatomic location and 37 (67.3%) endoscopists complained of pain at rest. Twenty-six (47.3%) endoscopists had severe musculoskeletal pain defined as a visual analogue score greater than 5.5. Factors related to the development of severe pain were (1) standing position during upper endoscopy, (2) specific posture/ habit during endoscopic procedures, and (3) multiple symptomatic areas. Finger pain was more common in beginners, whereas shoulder pain was more common in experienced endoscopists. Sixteen percent of symptomatic endoscopists have modified their practice or reduced the number of endoscopic examinations. Only a few symptomatic endoscopists had sought professional consultation with related specialists. CONCLUSION: The prevalence of musculoskeletal pain in endoscopists is very high. The location of pain was different between beginners and experienced endoscopists. Measures for the prevention and adequate management of endoscopy-related musculoskeletal symptoms are necessary.

Objectives: The purpose of this study is to investigate the influence of hysterectomy on LBP and to describe it through Oriental Medicine ***: Research was conducted by history taking of 1849 female LBP patients who visited Jaseng Oriental Medicine *** was focused on the number of patients who underwent hysterectomy, and the length of time developing LBP after the ***; 178 patients (9.6%) underwent hysterectomy among 1849 patients, and it was higher than general rate of *** Oriental medicine, this result can be explained that it is caused by the lack of water function of spleen(肾水) from the absence of uterus, consequently it makes muscle weak and does harm to Blood, meridian Conclusions: History of hysterectomy has a significant influence on the development of LBP.

目的:建立微种植体-直丝化舌侧矫治系统内收上颌前牙的三维有限元模型,分析微种植体处于不同植入高度时上前牙的位移趋势及应力变化,为舌侧矫治临床应用提供一定的生物力学参考。方法:利用锥形束CT扫描片建立上颌骨、上颌牙列、牙周膜的三维几何模型,分别在第一磨牙与第二磨牙之间,距牙槽嵴顶4mm、8mm和12mm处植入微种植体,建立微种植体-直丝化舌侧矫治内收上颌前牙的有限元模型。分析同时施加唇侧压低力和舌侧回收力后上前牙的位移及应力变化。结果:内收前牙的过程中,前牙均表现出了一定程度的冠舌向倾斜,随着腭侧微种植体高度的增加,前牙冠舌向倾斜移动逐渐减小,中切牙较侧切牙及尖牙的变化最为显著。当微种植体高度为8mm时,上前牙的牙根及牙周膜应力最小。结论:在舌侧矫治中,关闭拔牙间隙阶段选择恰当的腭侧微种植体植入高度同时应用适当的唇侧压低力可有效控制前牙转矩。
