Flexible dielectric materials with environmental-friendly,low-cost and high-energy density characteristics are in increasing demand as the world steps into the new Industrial 4.0 *** this work,an elastomeric nanocomposite was developed by incorporating two components:cellulose nanofibrils(CNFs)and recycled alum sludge,as the reinforcement phase and to improve the dielectric properties,in a bio-elastomer *** and alum sludge were produced by processing waste materials that would otherwise be disposed to landfills.A biodegradable elastomer polydimethylsiloxane was used as the matrix and the nanocomposites were processed by casting the materials in Petri *** extraction and heat treatment of alum sludge were conducted and characterized using various techniques including scanning electron microscopy(SEM),thermogravimetric analysis/derivative thermogravimetric(TGA/DTG)and X-ray diffraction(XRD)*** preparing the nanocomposite samples,various amount of alum sludge was added to examine their impact on the mechanical,thermal and electrical *** have shown that it could be a sustainable practice of reusing such wastes in preparing flexible,lightweight and miniature dielectric materials that can be used for energy storage applications.

Recently,I read with interest the research article entitled'Dysfunction of the adhesion G protein-coupled receptor latrophilin 1(ADGRL1/LPhN1)increases the risk of obesity published in Signal Transduction and Targeted *** report confirms and extends our findings that ADGRL1(aka latrophilin 1)regulates energy balance and glucose homeostasis.?Using affinity chromatography coupled with proteomics and electrophysiology,we showed that ADGRL1 is likely a glucose receptor in the *** findings demonstrated that lack of ADGRL1 in the hypothalamus or whole-body causes obesity and features of type 2 diabetes in *** is refreshing to see Dietzsch et al.i reached the same conclusion.

In live donor liver transplantation, anatomical anomalies of the portal vein are more frequently encountered in right lobe than left lobe grafts. Of these, a dual portal vein is one of the most common anatomical anomalies encountered. We hereby report our method of using a recipient portal vein patch after venoplasty for reconstruction in a right lobe graft with separate anterior and posterior portal vein branches.

Population inversion in fluorescing fragments of super-excited molecules inside an air filament

An original idea is reviewed. When a molecule is pumped into a super-excited state, one of its decay channels is neutral dissociation. One or more of the neutral fragments will fluoresce. hence, if a lower state of such fluorescing fragments was populated through other channels but with a lower probability, population inversion of the fluorescing fragments would be naturally realized. This idea seems to be validated, so far, by comparing published work on three hydrocarbon molecules, Ch4, C2h2, C2h4, and water vapor, h2 O. After super-excitation in a femtosecond laser filament in air mixed with these molecules, the fluorescence from the Ch or Oh fragments exhibits population inversion, i.e., amplified spontaneous emission was observed in the backscattering direction of the filament.

Transurethral resection of prostate for acute urinary retention is linked to shorter survival in younger men

It is largely unknown whether lower urinary tract symptoms(LUTS)or acute retention of urine(AROU)is linked to shorter life expectancy in *** conducted a multicenter,retrospective database analysis of patients undergoing transurethral resection of prostate(TURP)to study their *** Cox regression analysis and Kaplan-Meier analysis with stratification to age and indication of TURP were *** further performed an age-and sex-matched survival analysis with the general population using data from the Census and Statistics Department of the hong Kong Special Administrative Region(hong Kong,China).From January 2002 to December 2012,3496 patients undergoing TURP were included in our study,with 1764 patients in the LUTS group and 1732 patients in the AROU *** age,ischemic heart disease,cerebrovascular accident,and AROU were risk factors of *** agedhazard ratio[hR]:1.52,95%confidence interval[Cl]:1.11-2.09,P=0.010)and 70-80 years(adjusted hR:1.39,95%Cl:1.15-1.70,P-0.001)in the AROU group had worse survival than those in the LUTS group,but such difference was not demonstrated in patients aged>80 *** to the general population,younger patients in the LUTS group appeared to have better survival(he AROU group had worse survival(80 years,survival was similar with the general population in both the LUTS and AROU *** conclusion,AROU at young age was associated with mortality,while early detection and management of LUTS may improve survival.

Transition metal oxides hold great promise for lithium-ion batteries(LIBs)and electrocatalytic water splitting because of their high abundance and high energy ***,designing and fabrication of efficient,stable,high power density electrode materials are ***,we report rambutan-like hollow carbon spheres formed by carbon nanosheet decorated with nickel oxide(NiO)rich inmetal vacancies(denoted as h-NiO/C)as a bifunctional electrode material for LIBs and electrocatalytic oxygen evolution reaction(OER).When being used as the anode of LIBs,the h-NiO/C electrode shows a large initial capacity of 885mAh g−1,a robust stability with a high capacity of 817mAh g−1 after 400 cycles,and great rate capability with a high reversible capacity of 523mAh g−1 at 10Ag−1 after 600 ***,working as an OER electrocatalyst,the h-NiO/C electrode shows a small overpotential of 260mV at 10mAcm−2,a Tafel slope of 37.6mVdec−1 along with good *** work offers a cost-effective method for the fabrication of efficient electrode for LIBs and OER.

锂离子电池潜在的热失控风险及其可能引发的叠加效应对大型锂离子电池电源的安全设计提出了巨大挑战,因此在某些特殊应用领域,如煤矿井下爆炸性环境,大容量锂离子电池电源的使用依然存在诸多限制,难以普及。根据现有针对锂离子电池热失控行为的研究结论,在不进行充分的气体热力学和动力学分析的前提下,仅采用传统隔爆外壳对大容量锂离子电池电源进行防爆保护,存在隔爆外壳内部压力积聚的安全隐患。在分析现有研究工作的基础上,选用不同电池制造商生产的容量在72~280 A·h范围内的磷酸铁锂电池进行了热失控试验研究,全面分析了锂离子电池热失控过程中电池表面以及释放气体的温度、气体释放速度、释放气体在容器内产生的压力和释放气体的成分等相关参数。在此基础上,根据气体动力学和热力学特性,系统阐述了适用于煤矿井下爆炸性环境用可移动设备和后备电源等设备的锂离子电池电源在设计和制造过程中需要重点考虑的2个因素:①锂离子电池电源外壳内部的自由空间,②锂离子电池电源内部单体电池发生热失控事故时针对所释放气体的处理方法,并提出了必要的设计依据。本研究成果有望对爆炸性特殊环境用锂离子电池电源的防爆保护设计和安全完整性评估提供新的重要参考依据。

hydroxychavicol,a polyphenol from Piper betle leaf extract,induces cell cycle arrest and apoptosis in TP53-resistant hT-29 colon cancer cells

This study aims to elucidate the antiproliferative mechanism of hydroxychavicol(hC).Its effects on cell cycle,apoptosis,and the expression of c-Jun N-terminal kinase(JNK)and P38 mitogen-activated protein kinase(MAPK)in hT-29 colon cancer cells were *** was isolated from Piper betle leaf(PBL)and verified by high-performance liquid chromatography(hPLC),nuclear magnetic resonance(NMR),and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry(GC-MS).The cytotoxic effects of the standard drug 5-fluorouracil(5-FU),PBL water extract,and hC on hT-29 cells were measured after 24,48,and 72 h of *** cycle and apoptosis modulation by 5-FU and hC treatments were investigated up to 30 *** in phosphorylated JNK(pJNK)and P38(pP38)MAPK expression were observed up to 18 *** half maximal inhibitory concentration(IC_(50))values of hC(30μg/mL)and PBL water extract(380μg/mL)were achieved at 24 h,whereas the IC_(50)of 5-FU(50μmol/L)was obtained at 72 *** cycle arrest at the G0/G1 phase in hC-treated cells was observed from12 h *** apoptotic cell death in hC-treated cells compared to 5-FU-treated cells(Ph in hC-treated cells,but not in 5-FU-treated hT-29 cells(Phat hC induces cell cycle arrest and apoptosis of hT-29 cells,with these actions possibly mediated by JNK and P38 MAPK.
