Electrokinetic-mechanism of water and furfural oxidation on pulsed laser-interlaced Cu_(2)O and CoO on nickel foam

The electrocatalytic oxidation of biomass-derived furfural(FF)feedstocks into 2-furoic acid(FA)holds immense industrial potential in optics,cosmetics,polymers,and ***,we fabricated Co O/Ni O/nickel foam(NF)and Cu_(2)O/Ni O/NF electrodes via in situ pulsed laser irradiation in liquids(PlIl)for the bifunctional electrocatalysis of oxygen evolution reaction(OER)and furfural oxidation reaction(FOR),*** oxidation of NF surface to NiO and deposition of CoO and/or Cu_(2)O on NF during PlIl offer distinct advantages for enhancing both the OER and ***/NiO/NF electrocatalyst provides a consistently low overpotential of~359 m V(OER)at 10 m A/cm^(2),achieving the maximum FA yield(~16.37 m M)with 61.5%selectivity,79.5%carbon balance,and a remarkable Faradaic efficiency of~90.1%during 2 h of FOR at 1.43 V(*** hydrogen electrode).Mechanistic pathway via in situ electrochemical-Raman spectroscopy on CoO/NiO/NF reveals the involvement of phase transition intermediates(NiOOH and CoOOH)as surface-active centers during electrochemical *** carbonyl carbon in FF is attacked by hydroxyl groups to form unstable hydrates that subsequently undergo further oxidation to yield FA *** method holds promise for large-scale applications,enabling simultaneous production of renewable building materials and fuel.

High penetration of Converter Interfaced Generations(CIGs)presents challenges in both microgrid(μGrid)circuit and other system with CIG resources,such as wind farms and PV ***,protection challenges are mainly brought by the insufficient separation between fault and load currents,especially forμGrids in islanded operation,and the short connection length inμ*** addition,CIG resources exhibit limited inertia and weak coupling to any rotating machinery,which can result in large transients during *** address the above challenges,this paper proposes a Dynamic State Estimation(DSE)based algorithm for protection and control of systems with substantial CIG resources such as aμ*** requires a high-fidelity dynamic model and time domain(sampled value)***μGrid circuit protection,the algorithm dependably and securely detects internal faults by checking the consistency between the circuit model and available *** CIG control,the algorithm estimates the frequency at other parts of aμGrid using CIG local information only and then utilizes it to provide supplementary feedback *** results prove that DSE based protection algorithm detects internal faults faster,ignores external faults and has improved sensitivity towards high impedance faults when compared to conventional protection *** based CIG control scheme also minimizes output oscillation and transient during system disturbances.

Community detection in social networks is a hard problem because of the size,and the need of a deep understanding of network structure and *** several methods with significant effort in this direction have been devised,an outstanding open problem is the unknown number of communities,it is generally believed that the role of influential nodes that are surrounded by neighbors is very *** addition,the similarity among nodes inside the same cluster is greater than among nodes from other ***,the global and local methods of community detection have been getting more ***,in this study,we propose an advanced communitydetection model for social networks in order to identify network communities based on global and local *** proposed model initially detects the most influential nodes by using an Eigen score then performs local expansion powered by label *** process is conducted with the same color till nodes reach maximum ***,the communities are formed,and a clear community graph is displayed to the *** proposed model is completely parameter-free,and therefore,no prior information is required,such as the number of communities,*** perform simulations and experiments using well-known synthetic and real network benchmarks,and compare them with well-known state-of-the-art *** results prove that our model is efficient in all aspects,because it quickly identifies communities in the ***,it can easily be used for friendship recommendations or in business recommendation systems.

Influence of the wastewater composition on denitrification and biological P-removal in the S-DN-P process: (c) Dissolved and undissolved substrates

The denitdfication and P-removal in the sorption-denitrification-P-removal （S-DN-P） process were carded out under various wastewater compositions. It is noted that P-removal largely depends on the wastewater composition as well to the quantity of the substrates present in wastewater fraction. Three different wastewater fractions are obtained as： raw wastewater, dissolved wastewater （obtained with filtration using 0.45 μm filter）, and undissolved wastewater （i.e., infiltrate obtained by above filtration）. The ratio of P-release/CODtotal-consumption clearly inferred that undissolved wastewater possess very low value i.e., 0.0008 followed by raw wastewater 0.008 and dissolved wastewater 0.03. When this ratio was nearby 0.01, enhanced P-removal was observed. Moreover, the ratio of P-uptake to NO3^--N decomposition for raw wastewater was two times for dissolved wastewater. Interestingly, it was observed that the P-removal and denitrification depend not only on the dissolved substrates but also the undissolved substrates present in the wastewater. The result of the P-removal obtained with this S-DN-P process did not show a big difference of 36%, 34% and 30%, respectively, for raw, dissolved and undissolved wastewater.

An approach to dark energy problem through linear invariants

The time evolution of vacuum energy density is investigated in the coherent states of inflationary universe using a linear invariant approach. The linear invariants we derived are represented in terms of annihilation operators. On account of the fact that the coherent state is an eigenstate of an annihilation operator, the wave function in the coherent state is easily evaluated by solving the eigenvalue equation of the linear invariants. The expectation value of the vacuum energy density is derived using this wave function. Fluctuations of the scalar field and its conjugate momentum are also investigated. Our theory based on the linear invariant shows that the vacuum energy density of the universe in a coherent state is decreased continuously with time due to nonconservative force acting on the coherent oscillations of the scalar field, which is provided by the expansion of the universe. In effect, our analysis reveals that the vacuum energy density decreases in proportion to t-β where β is 3/2 for radiation-dominated era and 2 for matter-dominated era. In the case where the duration term of radiation-dominated era is short enough to be negligible, the estimation of the relic vacuum energy density agrees well with the current observational data.

Polyalkenoate cement(PAC)is a promising material for regenerative hard tissue *** ionically rich glass component of PAC encourages bioactive interaction *** release of essential ***,PAC bioactivity is restricted owing to(i)structurally inherent cationic network formers and(ii)surface bacterial biofilm *** two factors cause a deficiency in ion release,further complicated by secondary infections and premature therapeutic ***,a multivalent zwitterionic network modifier(mZM)is presented for upregulation of ionic exchange and bioactivity *** introducing a non-zero charged mZM into PACs,an increase in the proportion of non-bridging oxygen *** network modification promotes ion channel formation,causing a multiple-fold increase in ion release and surface deposition of hydroxy-carbonate apatite(ca.74%).Experiments ex vivo and animal models also demonstrate the efficient remineralization ability of the ***,divalent cationic interaction results in bacterial biofilm reduction(ca.68%)while also influencing a shift in the biofilm species composition,which favors commensal ***,PAC modification with mZM offers a promising solution for upregulation of bioactivity,even aiding in customization by targeting site-specific regenerative therapy in future applications.

Simultaneous occurrence of malignant fibrous histiocytoma and hepatocellular carcinoma in cirrhotic liver: A case report

Primary hepatic malignant fibrous histiocytoma (MFH) is rarely encountered. There have been no reports to date of hepatic MFH associated with liver cirrhosis. The presence of liver cirrhosis is considered an adjunctive feature favoring sarcomatoid hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) in the diagnosis of spindle cell tumors in liver. We describe here a 59-year-old man with liver cirrhosis due to hepatitis B virus infection 20 years ago. On abdominal computed tomography scanning, two distinct hepatic masses were identified in the background of cirrhosis, which had different radiological features from conventional HCC. He underwent segmentectomy for removal of the tumors. The pathological examination of surgically resected specimen revealed the large malignant spindle cell tumor and small conventional HCC. Additional tissue sampling and immunohistochemical stainings demonstrated that the spindle cell tumor was consistent with MFH. On the post-operative follow-up for 21 mo, a round mass showing similar radiological findings for the previous MFH was appeared on the surface of resection margin, suggesting the recurrence. Despite its rarity, hepatic MFH should be considered during differential diagnosis, even in cirrhotic patients, and extensive tissue sampling and immunohistochemical analyses are necessary in the diagnosis of hepatic spindle cell tumors.

Intracerebral hemorrhage （ICH）, caused by the sudden rupture of an artery within the brain, is a devastating subtype of stroke, which currently has no effective treatment. Intense inflammatory reactions that occur in the peri-hematomal area after ICH are more deleterious than the hematoma itself, resulting in subsequent brain edema and neurologic deterioration. Thus, we developed lipid-coated magnetic mesoporous silica nanoparticles doped with ceria nanoparticles （CeNPs）, abbreviated as lMCs, which have both potent anti-inflammatory therapeutic effects via scavenging reactive oxygen species and help in increasing the efficacy of magnetic resonance imaging enhancement in the peri-hematomal area. lMCs consist of mesoporous silica nanopartide-supported lipid bilayers, which are loaded with large amounts of CeNPs for scavenging of reactive oxygen species, and iron oxide nanoparticles for magnetic resonance imaging contrast. lMCs loaded with CeNPs exhibited strong anti-oxidative and anti-inflammatory activities in vitro. In the rodent ICH model, intracerebraUy injected lMCs reached the peri-hematomal area and were engulfed by macrophages, which were clearly visualized by magnetic resonance imaging of the brain. Moreover, lMCs reduced inflammatory macrophage infiltration, and thus significantly reduced brain edema. Finally, lMC treatment markedly improved neurologic outcomes of the animals with ICH. Thus, lMC is the first nanobiomaterial that successfully showed theragnostic effects in ICH.

Random lasing detection of structural transformation and compositions in silk fibroin scaffolds

In tissue engineering, microstructure and material composition of tissue scaffolds have major influences on the proliferation and differentiation of cells in the scaffolds. However, once tissue scaffolds implanted, it is extremely difficult to monitor the change of their microstructure and compositions during tissue regeneration. Here, we report how random lasing can be utilized to non-invasively monitor the structure and composition of scaffolds. We hypothesize that morphological and compositional change of silk fibroin (SF) scaffolds can be conveniently detected based on random lasing responses. Engineered SF scaffolds with hydroxyapatite (HAP) nanoparticles and controlled pore alignment were fabricated, and their random lasing responses were analyzed depending on the concentration of HAP nanoparticles and the degree of,:internal pore alignment. We also examined the real-time random lasing responses of porous SF scaffolds by applying a compressive force to' the scaffolds. Introduction of HAP nanoparticles lowered the lasing thresholds and narrowed the random lasing (Rl) width dramatically, which :is likely due to the increase in heterogeneity in both refractive index and physical arrangement within the SF and HAP composites. The strong dependency of Rl response on pore alignment was also measured and validated by numerical calculation with the finite element method (FEM).Finally, real-time monitoring of Rl on compressed scaffolds demonstrated the possibility of using Rl as a monitoring tool for structural change of SF scaffolds in vivo.
