Conception and Design of Active Balancer for Planar Mechanisms

The dynamic balancing is an important issue in mechanism design. For the existing balancing methods, both passive and active ones, there is still room for improvement in adaplability and independency. In view of this, a concept of active balancer is developed as a new solution for the dynamic balancing with more flexibility. The proposed balancer is an independent additional device with a control system inside, which consists of a two-degree-of-freedom （DOF） linkage and a controllable motor, and can be attached to a machine expediently with little change to its original structure and motion. One of the two inputs of the two-DOF linkage shares the same shaft with its output, which is connected to the input shaft of a machine to be balanced and driven by the original actuator. The other input is driven by the control motor. By properly selecting the speed trajectories of the control motor and link parameters of the two-DOF linkage, one or more dynamic effects of the mechanisms can be minimized or eliminated adaptively. The design procedure of the active balancer is put forward and a two-step optimization is developed to find out optimal design parameters of the balancer for various design requirements and constraints. Taking a force-balanced crank-rocker mechanism as the reference mechanism, numerical examples are given to illustrate the design procedure. The balancing effects of the proposed balancer are compared with those of the existing adding dyads （DYAD） method. The results show that the introduction of the control system provides the active balancer with better balancing effect and more flexibility than the DYAD method. A considerable reduction in the dynamic effects （input torque, shaking moment and shaking force） can be achieved for different balancing object by designing the structural and control parameters of the balancer, and the deterioration of dynamic performance caused by alterative working conditions can be compensated effectively by redesigning the

Nb_2O_5/C nanosheets are successfully prepared through a mixing process and followed by heating *** Nb_2O_5/C based electrode exhibits high rate performance and remarkable cycling ability,showing a high and stable specific capacity of ~380mAhg^（-1） at the current density of 50 mAg^（-1）（much higher than the theoretical capacity of Nb_2O_5）.Further more,at a current density of 500mAg^（-1）,the nanocomposites electrode still exhibits a specific capacity of above 150 mAh g^（-1） after 100 *** results suggest the Nb_2O_5/C nanocomposite is a high performance anode material for lithium-ion batteries.

Reversal of pulmonary vein remodeling after catheter ablation of atrial fibrillation

Background Pulmonary veins （PV） and the atria undergo electrical and structural remodeling in atrial fibrillation （AF）. This study aimed to determine PV and left atrial （LA） reverse remodeling after catheter ablation for AF assessed by chest computed tomography （CT）. Methods PV electrophysiologic studies and catheter ablation were performed in 63 patients （68% male; mean ± SD age： 56 ± 10 years） with symptomatic AF （49% paroxysmal, 51% persistent）. Chest CT was performed before and 3 months after catheter ablation. Results At baseline, patients with persistent AF had a greater LA volume （91 ±29 cm3 vs. 66 ± 27 cm3; P = 0.003） and mean PV ostial area （241 ＋ 43 mm2 vs. 212 ± 47 mm2; P = 0.03） than patients with paroxysmal AF. There was no significant correlation between the effective refractory period and the area of the left superior PV ostium. At 3 months of follow-up after ablation, 48 patients （76%） were AF free on or off antiarrhythmic drugs. There was a significant reduction in LA volume （77 ±31 cm3 to 70 ± 28 cm3; P 〈 0.001） and mean PV ostial area （224 ± 48 mm2 to 182 ± 43 mm2; P 〈 0.001）. Patients with persistent AF had more reduction in LA volume （11.8 ± 12.8 cm3 vs. 4.0 ± 11.2 cm3; P = 0.04） and PV ostial area （62 mm2 vs. 34 mm2; P = 0.04） than those who have paroxysmal AF. The reduction of the averaged PV ostial area was significantly correlated with the reduction of LA volume （r = 0.38, P = 0.03）. Conclusions Catheter ablation of AF improves structural remodeling ofPV ostia and left atrium. This finding is more apparent in patients with persistent AF treated by catheter ablation.

Grain yield and water use of winter wheat as affected by water and sulfur supply in the North China Plain

Water shortage has threatened sustainable development of agriculture globally as well as in the North China Plain（NCP）.Irrigation,as the most effective way to increase food production in dry land,may not be readily available in the situation of *** of the alternatives is to supply plants with enough nutrients so that they can be more sustainable to the water *** objective of this study was to explore effects of irrigation and sulphur（S）application on water consumption,dry matter accumulation（DMA）,and grain yield of winter wheat in *** irrigation regimes including no irrigation（rainfed,I0）during the whole growth period,once irrigation only at jointing stage（90 mm,I1）,and twice respective irrigation at jointing and anthesis stages（90 mm plus 90 mm,I2）,and two levels of S application including 0S0and 60 kg ha^–1（S60）were designed in the field experiment in *** showed that increasing irrigation times significantly increased mean grain yield of wheat by 12.5–23.7%and nitrogen partial factor productivity（NPFP）by 21.2–45.0%in two wheat seasons,but markedly decreased crop water use efficiency（YWUE）.Furthermore,S supply 60 kg ha^–1 significantly increased mean grain yield,YWUE,IWUE and NPFP by 5.6,6.1,23.2,and 5.6%（across two wheat seasons）,***,we also found that role of soil moisture prior to S application was one of important greater factors on improving the absorption and utilization of storage water and nutrients of ***,water supply is still the most important factor to restrict the growth of wheat in the present case of NCP,supplying 60 kg ha^–1 S with once irrigation 90 mm at the jointing stage is a relatively appropriate recommended combination to improve grain yield and WUE of wheat when saving water resources is be considered in irrigated wheat farmlands of NCP.

Introduction Heart failure （HF） is a major clinical manifestation of many cardiac disease processes when the cardiovascular compensatory mechanisms fail. Five million patients suffer from HF with an additional 555,000 new patients diagnosed HF annually. Moreover, there are an estimated 400,000 to 460,000 deaths attributable to sudden cardiac death （SCD） in the United States each year.1 Mortality in the heart failure population is about six to seven times higher than that of the agematched general population.

共１５９例各种类型的恶性肿瘤病人进入了Ⅱ期临床试验。２５例病人接受了白介素－２（ＩＬ－２）单独全身治疗（静脉或皮下注射）；６０例病人接受了ＩＬ－２＋ＬＡＫ细胞全身性治疗；４１例癌性胸水病人接受了ＩＬ－２胸腔内灌注；６例癌性腹水病人接受了ＩＬ－２腹腔灌注；２７例病人接受了ＩＬ－２瘤内注射。单用ＩＬ－２全身治疗的病人没有病例获得临床缓解，２３晚期肾癌接受了ＩＬ－２＋ＬＡＫ细胞治疗，５例获得部分缓解，有效率２２％：癌件胸水和腹水的有效率分别为６８％和６７％：ＩＬ－２瘤内注射的有效率为３０％。Ｔ４／Ｔ８比值、ＮＫ细胞活性和ＬＡＫ细胞活性在全身性ＩＬ－２治疗后均有显著升高，并有统计学意义。病人接受本试验所用的ＩＬ－剂量后的毒副反应主要为发热、畏寒或寒战、疲乏，全组病人均无发生严重低血压、液体潴留等毛细血管渗漏现象。

Left ventricular 12 segmental strain imaging predicts response to cardiac resynchronization therapy

Background The number of non-responders to cardiac resynchronization therapy （CRT） exposes the need for better patient selection criteria for CRT. This study aimed to identify echocardiographic parameters that would predict the response to CRT. Methods Forty-five consecutive patients receiving CRT-D implantation for heart failure （HF） were included in this prospective study. New York Heart Association （NYHA） class, 6-minute walk distance, electrograph character, and multi echocardiographic parameters, especially in strain patterns, were measured and compared before and six months after CRT in the responder and non-responder groups. Response to CRT was defined as a decrease in left ventricular end- systolic volume （LVESV） of 15% or more at 6-month follow up. Results Twenty-two （48.9%） patients demonstrated a response to CRT at 6-month follow-up. Significant improvement in NYHA class （P 〈0.01）, left ventdcular end-diastolic volume （LVEDV）（P 〈0.01）, and 6-minute walk distance （P 〈0.01） was shown in this group. Although there was an interventricular mechanical delay determined by the difference between left and right ventricular pre-ejection intervals （（42.87±19.64） ms vs. （29.43±18.19） ms, P=0.02）, the standard deviation of time to peak myocardial strain among 12 basal, mid and apical segments （Tε-SD）（（119.97±43.32） ms vs. （86.62±36.86） ms, P=0.01） and the non-ischemic etiology （P=0.03） were significantly higher in responders than non-responders, only the Tε- SD （OR=1.02, 95% CI=1.01-1.04, P=0.02） proved to be a favorable predictor of CRT response after multivariate Logistic regression analysis. Conclusion The left ventricular 12 segmental strain imaging is a promising echocardiographic parameter for predicting CRT response.
