Ru/NiMnB spherical cluster pillar for highly proficient green hydrogen electrocatalyst at high current density

Advanced OER/HER electrocatalytic alternatives are crucial for the wide adaptation of green hydrogen ***,Ru/NiMnB spherical cluster pillar （SCP）,denoted as Ru/NiMnB,is synthesized using a combination of electro-deposition and hydrothermal *** investigation of Ru doping in the NiMnB matrix revealed significant improvements in electrocatalytic *** Ru/NiMnB SCPs demonstrate superior OER/HER activity with low overpotentials of 150 and 103 mV at 50mA/cm2in 1 M KOH,making them highly competitive with state-of-the-art ***,the Ru/NiMnB SCPs exhibit a low 2-E cell voltage of 2.80 V at ultra-high current density of 2,000 m A/cm2in 1 M KOH,outperforming the standard benchmark electrodes of RuO2||Pt/C,thereby positioning Ru/NiMnB as one of the best bifunctional *** SCPs exhibit exceptional high-current characteristics,stability and corrosion resistance,as evidenced by continuous operation at 1,000 mA/cm2high-current density for over 150 h in 6 M KOH at elevated temperatures under harsh industrial *** a small amount of Ru incorporation significantly enhances the electrocatalytic performances of NiMnB,attributed to increased active sites and improved intrinsic properties such as conductivity,adsorption/desorption capability and reaction ***,Ru/NiMnB SCPs present a promising bi-functional electrode concept for efficient green H2production.

Through an investigation of the microstructure and mechanical properties of extruded Mg–5Bi–x Sn(BT5x, x = 0, 2, 4, and 6 wt%) alloys,this study demonstrates that the addition of Sn to an Mg–5Bi binary alloy significantly improves the tensile strength of the extruded *** the extruded alloys exhibit a typical basal fiber texture and a partially dynamically recrystallized(DRXed) microstructure consisting of fine DRXed grains and coarse un DRXed grains. As the Sn content increases from 0 wt% to 6 wt%, the average size of the DRXed grains decreases from 4.2 to 2.8 μm owing to the increase in the amount of precipitates via their grain-boundary pinning effect. The extruded B5 and BT52 alloys contain numerous Mg_(3)Bi_(2) precipitates, but their size and number density are smaller and higher, respectively, in the latter *** Mg_(2)Sn precipitates as well as Mg_(3)Bi_(2)precipitates are present in the extruded BT54 and BT56 alloys, and the number density of the Mg_(2)Sn precipitates is higher in the latter alloy because of its higher Sn content. The addition of 2 wt% Sn to the B5 alloy significantly improves the yield strength(YS) and ultimate tensile strength(UTS) of the extruded alloy—by 76 and 57 MPa, respectively. This drastic improvement is the combined outcome of enhanced grain-boundary hardening, precipitation hardening, and solid-solution hardening effects induced by the refined DRXed grains, numerous precipitates, and Sn solute atoms, respectively. The further addition of 2 wt% or 4 wt% Sn to the BT52 alloy leads to moderate increments in the YS and UTS of the extruded alloy. Specifically, each addition of 2 wt% Sn increases the YS and UTS by ~26 and ~20 MPa, respectively, which is attributed mainly to the additional precipitation hardening effect induced by the Mg_(2)Sn precipitates.

Do brood parasitic Common Cuckoos develop brood patches during the breeding season?

Many birds develop brood patches on their ventral apterium under hormonal regulation to effectively transmit body heat to eggs during *** developed patch has several characteristics,including de-feathering,vascularization,and ***,little is known about whether avian brood parasites that do not incubate their eggs exhibit brood patch development during the breeding *** this study,we measured the size of the ventral apterium in 114 Common Cuckoos(Cuculus canorus)captured in the field throughout the breeding season and examined the appearance of the ventral apterium to confirm the development of brood *** also examined whether morphological traits and various factors correlated with the size of the ventral apterium(sternal apterium and abdominal apterium)and how it cha.ged during the breeding *** found no clear signs of brood patch development in Common Cuckoos captured throughout the breeding season,indicating that they likely did not develop brood patches on the ventral apterium during this *** also found that ventral apterium size was positively correlated with wing length and body *** addition,Common Cuckoos with newly growing feathers on the boundary of the ventral apterium with pteryla were frequently observed as seasons progressed to the *** conclusion,Common Cuckoos exhibit neither brood patch development nor the vestigial characteristics of ancestral brood patches,except for the growth of feathers on boundary the ventral *** studies examining brood patches across different groups of avian brood parasites are valuable for enhancing our understanding of the developmental and physiological adaptations of avian brood parasites.

Sperm competition has been studied in numerous species as a representative example of postcopulatory sexual selection,where sampling sperm from male is the most basic and important *** collection can be tricky in birds,however,because unlike mammals,the genitals of birds are generally latent in the cloacal region and their characteristics vary among *** methods to collect sperm from different birds have been tested,such as cloacal massage,feces collection,and electro-stimulation,but their applicability varies depending on *** this study,we introduced the urodeum stimulation method(UroS method)to collect sperm from Cuculus cuckoos,such as the Common Cuckoo(***).These species are expected to have interesting patterns of pair bonding and sperm competition because of their unique breeding strategy called brood parasitism;however,it remains *** this study,we described the application of our new method to expel semen from male common cuckoos,measured the volume of semen collected,checked the presence of sperm in the semen sample,and finally estimated its success rate among 82 *** were successfully collected from 76 cuckoos(approximately 93%)and the colors and volumes of the samples were very *** was present in 43 of these samples(57%),showing a sperm observation rate approximately twice as high as that of the conventional cloacal massage *** believe that this novel method will contribute to a better understanding of postcopulatory sexual selection in avian brood parasites and facilitate the process of sperm collection and artificial insemination in other medium-sized birds.

Hepatitis B virus reactivation in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma undergoing anti-cancer therapy

Patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) often experience hepatic morbidity. Hepatitis B virus (HBV) reactivation is well documented as a serious hepatic morbidity during anti-cancer therapy. Reported rates of HBV reactivation in chronic carriers with HCC undergoing chemotherapy range from 4%-67%. Apart from chemotherapy, HBV reactivation has been increasingly identified in settings of hepatectomy and local ablation therapies. The rates of HBV reactivation vary with different levels of immunosuppression and depend on treatment, viral factors, and patient characteristics. The principal concern relating to reactivation is that a substantial proportion of patients with reactivation suffer from liver dysfunction during therapy, which often leads to disruption of planned, potentially life-prolonging treatments, adversely affecting the patients’ final outcome. The first step in the management of HBV reactivation is identification of patients at risk of reactivation by testing for HBV serology prior to commencing anti-cancer therapy. Although it is a serious complication, HBV reactivation is preventable with prophylactic anti-HBV drugs. Multiple publications have shown the benefit of prophylactic or preemptive antiviral therapy in this setting and justified such an approach before the start of therapy. given the tumors and underlying cirrhosis, long-term use of antivirals with high potency and low risk of resistance is recommended in patients with HCC. This topic review will summarize the epidemiology, pathogenesis, and clinical issues related to HBV reactivation in HCC patients, and will discuss proper management against HBV reactivation during anti-cancer therapy for HCC.

Administration of monoclonal antibodies(mAbs)against epidermal growth factor receptor(EgFR)such as cetuximab and panitumumab in combination with conventional chemotherapy substantially prolongs survival of patients with metastatic colorectal cancer(mCRC).However,the efficacy of these mAbs is limited due to genetic variation among patients,in particular K-ras *** discovery of K-ras mutation as a predictor of non-responsiveness to EgFR mAb therapy has caused a major cha.ge in the treatment of *** that inhibit transformation caused by oncogenic alterations of Ras and its downstream components such as BRAF,MEK and AKT seem to be promising cancer therapeutics as single agents or when given with EgFR *** multiple therapeutic strategies to overcome EgFR mAb-resistance are under investigation,our understanding of their mode of action is *** drug development based on stringent preclinical data,biomarker validation,and proper selection of patients is of paramount importance in the treatment of *** this review,we will discuss diverse approaches to overcome the problem of resistance to existing anti-EgFR therapies and potential future directions for cancer therapies related to the mutational status of genes associated with EgFRRas-ERK and PI3K signalings.

generalist avian brood parasites vary considerably in their degree of host specialization(e.g.,number of hosts);some parasitize the nests of just a few host species,whereas others exploit more than 100 *** factors,including habitat range,habitat type,and geographic location,have been suggested to account for these ***,inter-specific differences in individual attributes,such as personality and plasticity,have rarely been considered as potential factors of such variation,despite their potential relationship to,for example,range *** cage experiments,we tested the hypothesis that parasitic species exploiting more host species may be more active and *** this end,we quantified behaviors exhibited by two Cuculus cuckoos(Common Cuckoo *** and Oriental Cuckoo ***)that vary greatly in their number of host ***,we evaluated exploratory behavior displayed by birds in the cage,such as the number of movements,head-turning,wing-flapping,and *** Common Cuckoo,which has a higher number of host species,tended to exhibit higher levels of exploratory behaviors than the Oriental *** study showed that the two cuckoo species exhibited different exploratory levels,as predicted by the differences in their number of *** studies regarding the causality between individual attributes and host specialization with improved experimental methodology would greatly enhance our understanding of the role of individual characteristics in the coevolution of avian brood parasites and their hosts.

Hydrogen storage in Liquid Organic Hydrogen Carrier(LOHC)systems is appealing for the safe storage and distribution of excess renewable energy via existing gasoline infrastructures to *** present the eutectic mixture of biphenyl and diphenyl ether of its first use as a LOHC *** material is hydrogenated with 99%selectivity without the cleavage of C–O bond,with commercial heterogeneous catalysts,which is confirmed by nuclear magnetic spectroscopy and gas chromatography-mass *** concentration,dehydrogenation enthalpy,and thermo-neutral temperature are calculated using a density functional *** results indicate that O-atom-containing material exhibits more favorable dehydrogenation thermodynamics than that of the hydrocarbon *** H2-rich material contains6.8 wt%of gravimetric hydrogen storage capacity.A preliminary study of catalytic dehydrogenation on a continuous reactor is presented to demonstrate a reversibility of this material.
