Background Soil microbial communities affect above-ground plant diversity and community composition by influencing plant growth *** studies have tested the effect of soil bacterial microbiome on growth performance of native and invasive plants,but the influence of specific bacterial isolates has not been ***,we investigated the effects of soil bacterial exclusion by soil sterilization and by inoculation of Streptomyces rhizobacterial isolates on the growth performance of native and invasive Prosopis *** Plant growth performance of invasive *** was significantly reduced when grown in sterilized soils,whereas native *** showed enhanced growth performance in the sterilized *** grown in the soil inoculated with the specific Streptomyces isolate from ***(PJ1),the growth performance of invasive *** was significantly enhanced while that of native *** seedlings was significantly ***,inoculation of *** and *** seedlings with Streptomyces isolate from the rhizosphere of native ***(PC1)had no significant effect on the growth performances either of *** or *** Our study reveals that invasive *** experiences positive feedback from the non-native soil bacterial community,while the native *** experiences negative feedback from its soil bacterial *** results provide fresh experimental evidence for the enemy release hypothesis,and further our understanding of the contrasting growth-promoting effects of differentially recruited microbial species belonging to the same genus(Streptomyces)in the rhizospheres of alien invasive and native plants.

Microbial electricity-driven anaerobic phenol degradation in bioelectrochemical systems

Microbial electrochemical technologies have been extensively employed for phenol ***,previous research has yielded inconsistent results,leaving uncertainties regarding the feasibility of phenol degradation under strictly anaerobic conditions using anodes as sole terminal electron *** this study,we employed high-performance liquid chromatography and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry to investigate the anaerobic phenol degradation *** findings provide robust evidence for the purely anaerobic degradation of phenol,as we identified benzoic acid,4-hydroxybenzoic acid,glutaric acid,and other metabolites of this ***,no typical intermediates of the aerobic phenol degradation pathway were ***-chamber reactors(t0.4 v ***)exhibited a phenol removal rate of 3.5±0.2 mg L^(-1) d^(-1),while two-chamber reactors showed 3.6±0.1 and 2.6±0.9 mg L^(-1) d^(-1) at anode potentials of t0.4 and t 0.2 v,*** results also suggest that the reactor configuration certainly influenced the microbial community,presumably leading to different ratios of phenol consumers and microorganisms feeding on degradation products.

A series of Ti(Ⅳ) dichloride and dialkoxide com plexes with phenoxyimine ligands containing fluorinated and nonfluorinated aliphatic imine fragments have been *** molecular structures of complexes 1 and 4 were established by single-crystal X-ray diffraction *** complexes adopt a distorted octahedral coordination structure around the titanium atom and two oxygen atoms are situated in trans position while two nitrogen atoms and two outgoing ligands(Cl or iPrO) are situated in cis *** of activators(MMAO-12 and combinations Et_nAICl_(3-n)+Bu_(2)Mg) and outgoing ligand(Cl or iPrO) nature on the catalytic activity and properties of the resulting polymers was *** Ti complexes,despite the nature of the outgoing ligands(Cl or iPrO) in the presence of Al/Mg activators,was found to display a high ethylene polymerization activity in the range 1600-3830 kg_(polymer)·mol_(Ti)^(-1)·h^(-1)·atm^(-1) with a viscosity average molecular weight(M_v) value in the range 1.1×10~6-7.1×10~6 Dalton(Da).The resulting UHMWPE can be processed by a solventless method into high-strength and high-modulus oriented *** rheological characteristics of a polymer melt have been *** absence of a cross-over point did not allow to compare the values of the molecular weight distribution of polymers obtained on fluorinated and non-fluorinated pre-catalysts,however,the estimation of the entanglement density is in good agreement with the mechanical characteristics of oriented film *** activation with methylalumoxane,the activity of the com plexes decreased very significantly;however,a polymer with a molecular weight of about 12 million Da was *** the process of ethylene/octene-1 copolymerization,fluorine-containing precatalysts showed a clear advantage over non-fluorinated analogues both in activity and in comonomer content.

Effect of Diffuser vane Shape on the Performance of a Centrifugal Compressor Stage

The present paper reports the results of experimental investigations on the effect of diffuser vane shape on the performance of a centrifugal compressor stage. These studies were conducted on the chosen stage having a back- ward curved impeller of 500 turn tip diameter and 24.5 mm width and its design flow coefficient is Фd=0.0535. Three different low solidity diffuser vane shapes namely uncarnbered aerofoil, constant thickness flat plate and circular arc cambered constant thickness plate were chosen as the variants for diffuser vane shape and all the three shapes have the same thickness to chord ratio （t/c=0.1）. Flow coefficient, polytropic efficiency, total head coeffi- cient, power coefficient and static pressure recovery coefficient were chosen as the parameters for evaluating the effect of diffuser vane shape on the stage performance. The results show that there is reasonable improvement in stage efficiency and total head coefficient with the use of the chosen diffuser vane shapes as compared to conven- tional vaneless diffuser. It is also noticed that the aero foil shaped LSD has shown better performance when com- pared to flat plate and circular arc profiles. The aerofoil vane shape of the diffuser blade is seen to be tolerant over a considerable range of incidence.

Effect of sintering temperature on the chemical bonding,electronic structure and electrical transport properties of β-Ga_(1.9)Fe_(0.1)O_(3) compounds

A model system,which is based on iron(Fe)doped gallium oxide(Ga_(2)O_(3))(Ga_(1.9)Fe_(0.1)O_(3)),has been considered to elucidate the combined effect of transition-metal ion doping and processing temperature on the chemistry,local structure and chemical bonding,and electrical transport properties of a wide band gap oxide(Ga_(2)O_(3)).The Ga_(1.9)Fe_(0.1)O_(3) compounds were synthesized using standard high-temperature solid state reaction *** effect of processing conditions in terms of different calcination and sintering environments on the structural and electrical properties of Ga_(1.9)Fe_(0.1)O_(3) compounds is studied in *** characterization by Raman spectroscopy revealed that Ga_(1.9)Fe_(0.1)O_(3) compounds exhibit monoclinic crystal symmetry,which is quite similar to the intrinsic parental crystal structure,though Fedoping induces lattice *** temperature(T_(sint))which was varied in the range of 900-1200℃,has significant impact on the structure,chemical bonding,and electrical properties of Ga_(1.9)Fe_(0.1)O_(3) *** spectroscopic measurements indicate the proper densification of the Ga_(1.9)Fe_(0.1)O_(3) compounds achieved through complete Fe diffusion into the parent Ga_(2)O_(3) lattice which is evident at the highest sintering *** X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy validates the chemical states of the constituent elements in Ga_(1.9)Fe_(0.1)O_(3) *** electrical properties of Ga_(1.9)Fe_(0.1)O_(3) fully controlled by T_(sint),which governed the grain size and microstructural *** temperature and frequency dependent electrical measurements demonstrated the salient features of the Fe doped Ga_(2)O_(3) *** activation energy determined from Arrhenius equation is 0.5 e *** results demonstrate that control over structure,morphology,chemistry and electrical properties of the Ga_(1.9)Fe_(0.1)O_(3) compounds can be achieved by optimizing T_(sint).

A review of the effects of dietary organic acids fed to swine

Animal production depends on nutrient utilization and if done there is an accelerated momentum towards growth with a low cost to feed ratio Public concern over the consumption of pork with antibiotic residues of the animals fed with antibiotic growth promoters （AGP） has paved the way to use other additives like herbs and their products, probiotics, prebiotics etc. Numerous feed additives are in vogue for achieving this target and one such classical example is the usage of organic acids and their salts. Usage of organic acids was in progress for over four decades. Early weaned piglets are （3-4 weeks age） exposed to stress with a reduced feed intake, little or no weight gain. This post weaning lag period is due to a limited digestive and absorptive capacity due to insufficient production of hydrochloric acid, pancreatic enzymes and sudden changes in feed consistency and intake. Lowering dietary pH by weak organic acids was found to overcome these problems. The main activity of organic acids is associated with a reduction in gastric pH converting the inactive pepsinogen to active pepsin for effective protein hydrolysis. Organic acids are both bacteriostatic and bactericidal. Lactic acid has been reported to reduce gastric pH and delay the multiplication of an enterotoxigenic E. coil These acids are the intermediary products in Kreb＇s cycle and thus act as an energy source preventing the tissue breakdown resulting from gluconeogenesis and lipolysis. Excretion of supplemental minerals and nitrogen are minimized with organic acids as these form complexes with minerals and aids for their bio-availability. Short chain fatty cids like acetic, propionic and n-butyric acid produced by microbial fermentation of dietary fibre in the large intestines may increase the proliferation of epithelial cells and have stimulatory effects on both endocrine and exocrine pancreatic secretions in pigs. Effect of Inclined Tension Crack on Rock Slope Stability by SSR Technique

The tension cracks and joints in rock or soil slopes affect their failure *** of rock or soil slope failure is one of the most challenging tasks in the earth *** actual slopes consist of inhomogeneous materials,complex morphology,and erratic *** studies concerning the failure of rock slopes primarily focused on determining Factor of Safety(FoS)and Critical Slip Surface(CSS).In this article,the effect of inclined tension crack on a rock slope failure is studied numerically with Shear Strength Reduction Factor(SRF)*** inclined Tension Crack(TC)inﬂuences the magnitude and location of the rock slope’s Critical Shear Strength Reduction Factor(CSRF).Certainly,inclined cracks are more prone to cause the failure of the slope than the vertical ***,all tension cracks do not lead to failure of the slope *** effect of the crest distance of the tension crack is also *** numerical results do not show any signiﬁcant change in the magnitude of CSRF unless the tip of the TC is very near to the crest of the *** is also replaced with a joint,and the results differ from the corresponding *** results are discussed regarding shear stress and Critical Slip Surface(CSS).

A Nb-Cr-v-W-Ta high entropy alloy has been subjected to annealing treatment at 600,700 and 800℃in air for 6 *** different phases have been identified based on their composition in the as received *** annealing treatment does not alter the phase analysis and compositions except for the W-rich phase where minor changes in the composition have been *** is considered as an experimental evidence of sluggish diffusivity associated with *** of phase transformation during the heating and the minimal changes in observed compositions of the phases is an indication of the resistance to diffusion offered by the elements of the high entropy *** electron microscopy(SEM),energy dispersive spectroscopy(EDS)and color X-ray elemental mapping have been used to conduct this research.

Fabrication,characterization and optimization of high conductivity and high quality nanocrystalline molybdenum thin films

The present study investigated the influence of substrate temperature(Ts)and working pressure(P(Ar))on tailoring the properties of nanocrystalline(nc)molybdenum(Mo)films fabricated by radio-frequency magnetron *** structural,morphological,electrical and optical properties of nc-Mo films were evaluated in *** Mo films exhibited(110)orientation with average crystallite size varying from 9 to 22(±1)nm on increasing *** with structural data,the electrical resistivity decreased from 55μΩcm to 10μΩcm,which is the lowest among all the Mo *** Mo films deposited under variable P(Ar).the(110)peak intensity decrement coupled with peak broadening on increasing P(Ar).Lower deposition pressure yielded densely packed thin films with superior structural properties along with low resistivity of 15μΩ*** conditions to produce high quality Mo films with excellent structural,morphological,electrical and optical characteristics for utilization in solar cells as back contact layers were identified.
