Evolution of tectonic landscapes and deformation in the southeast Kumaun and western Nepal Himalaya

The area of the present investigation’s expanse constitutes the southernmost extent of the southeast Kumaun Himalaya and western Nepal *** approaches have been employed to understand the landforms associated with tectonic deformation,through detailed field investigation supplemented by the geodetic,chronological,and morphometric *** morphogenic expressions of the Main Boundary Thrust(MBT)are reflected in the form of~25 km long E-w trending north dipping fault *** deformation along the strike length of the Himalayan Frontal Thrust(HFT)is noticed in the form of uplifted and incised fill terraces,and strath *** deformation within the fluvial sequences in the study area can be visualized in the form of sheared boulders and pebbles,tilted and faulted terrace ***,the chronological data of fluvial landforms in the study area suggests two major phases of tectonic deformations that have occurred around 58.7±10.8 ka and 3.88±0.4 *** chronology of late-Quaternary landforms advocates that the initial stage of aggradations in the Himalayan foothills commenced around 75.1±0.58 *** aggradational landforms resulted from the diverse depositional regime as evident from the nature of the sediment sequences from clasts dominated to thick mud *** rate of deformation in the southeastern Kumaun and western Nepal Himalaya is±7 mm/yr,as per the data obtained from the Persistent Scatterer Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar(PSInSAR).The landform deformation pattern,phase of incision and aggradation,frequent occurrence of landslides,and recent past earthquake activity within the wide zone of the HFT,the MBT,and Ramgarh Thrust suggests that the southernmost front of the Kumaun Himalaya is active and has potential for future *** foothill zone of Himalayan towns are actively growing in terms of population and infrastructural ***,such intradisciplinary studies for tectonically active r

Predicting invasion potential of Senna didymobotrya (Fresen.) Irwin & Barneby under the changing climate in Africa

Background:Senna didymobotrya is a native African flowering *** is suspected that climate change encourages the introduction and spread of invasive alien *** possible invasion of *** across the continent is expected to increase in the future due to ongoing climate ***,there is still paucity of empirical evidence on the extent to which the changing climate contributes to the surge of the flowering *** study,therefore,investigated the present and potential invasion of *** using the species distribution model under changing climate *** two representative concentration pathways(RCP4.5 and RCP8.5)and eight bioclimatic variables and one topographic variable were used to simulate the current and future(2050s and 2070s)invasion of *** in *** model performance was assessed using the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve(AUC)and true skill statistics(TSS).Results:The results of the study showed that under the current climatic conditions,18%of Africa is suitable for the establishment and invasion of *** most suitable hotspot for *** invasion is eastern Africa,followed by southern *** predicted model showed that by 2050,3.3%and 3.12%of the continent would be highly suitable areas for the invasion of the species under RCP4.5 and RCP8.5,*** the 2070s,under RCP4.5 and RCP8.5,the highly suitable area would be 3.13%and 2.7%,*** relation to the current suitability,the cumulative projected areas of the low and moderate suitability class under RCP4.5 and RCP8.5 will rise by the years 2050 and ***,under both RCPs,the non-suitable area for *** invasion would gradually ***:From the findings,it can be concluded that the ecosystem’s vulnerability to *** invasion under future climatic conditions will proliferate ***,to prevent the projected harm to biodiversity and ecosys

PHOTOSYSTEM Ⅱ （PS Ⅱ） particles capable of O2 evolution contain reaction center polypeptides D1 and D2, cytchrome b559, chlorophyll （chl）-binding proteins CP47 and CP43, three extrinsic polypeptides （with apparent molecular masses of 17, 23 and 33 ku） and cofactors needed for light energy conversion. After illumination, PS Ⅱ oxygen evolution complex （OEC） catalyzes the oxidization of water to molecular oxygen through S0→S4 redox state transition. The three extrinsic polypeptides have been revealed to be closely related to the photosynthetic O2 evolution.

Atomic layer deposition(ALD) offers unique capabilities to fabricate atomically engineered porous materials with precise pore tuning and multi-functionalization for diverse applications like advanced membrane separations towards sustainable energy-water systems. However, current ALD technique is inhibited on most non-polar polymeric membranes due to lack of accessible nucleation sites. Here, we report a facile method to efficiently promote ALD coating on hydrophobic surface of polymeric membranes via novel protein activation/sensitization. As a proof of concept, TiO2ALD-coated membranes activated by bovine serum albumin exhibit remarkable superhydrophilicity, ultralow underwater crude oil adhesion, and robust tolerance to rigorous environments including acid, alkali, saline, and *** importantly, excellent cyclable crude oil-in-water emulsion separation performance can be achieved. The mechanism for activation/sensitization is rooted in reactivity for a particular set of amino acids. Furthermore, the universality of protein-sensitized ALD is demonstrated using common egg white,promising numerous potential usages in biomedical engineering, environmental remediation, lowcarbon manufacturing, catalysis, and beyond.

The Tsagaanbulag Formation of the Ulaan-Shand section in the Shine Jinst area was assigned to Silurian (wenlock-Pridoli) previously. But the present authors have found some very important conodonts, including Lanea omoalpha, Amydrotaxis johnsoni, "Ozarkodina"planililingua, Pedavis sp., from the Tsagaanbulag and Amansair formations, clearly indicating that these two formations should be assigned to middle Lochkovian which are widely distributed in china and Mongolia. The existence of the marine wenlockain and early Ludlovian deposits in Mongolia is a noteworthy problem.

This paper generalizes the method of Ngo and winkler(2010,2011)for finding rational general solutions of a first order non-autonomous algebraic ordinary differential equation(AODE)to the case of a higher order AODE,provided a proper parametrization of its solution *** authors reduce the problem of finding the rational general solution of a higher order AODE to finding the rational general solution of an associated *** rational general solutions of the original AODE and its associated system are in computable 1-1 *** authors give necessary and sufficient conditions for the associated system to have a rational solution based on proper reparametrization of invariant algebraic space *** authors also relate invariant space curves to first integrals and characterize rationally solvable systems by rational first integrals.

Kinetics of hydrogen sulfide decomposition in a DBD plasma reactor operated at high temperature

The present study investigates the kinetics of hydrogen sulfide （H2S） decomposition into hydrogen and sulfur carded out in a nonthermal plasma dielectric barrier discharge （NTP-DBD） reactor operated at ,-430 K for in situ removal of sulfur condensed inside the reactor walls. The dissociation of H2S was primarily initiated by the excitation of carder gas （At） through electron collisions which appeared to be the rate determining step. The experiments were carded out with initial concentration of H2S varied between 5 and 25 vol% at 150 mL/min （at standard temperature and pressure） flow rate in the input power range of 0.5 to 2 w. The reaction rate model based on continuous stirred tank reactor （CSTR） model failed to explain the global kinetics of H2S decomposition, probably due to the multiple complex reactions involved in H2S decomposition, whereas Michaelis-Menten model was satisfactory. Typical results indicated that the reaction order approached zero with increasing inlet concentration.

Large scale optimization problems can only be solved in an efficient way, if their special structure is taken as the basis of algorithm design. In this paper we consider a very broad class of large-scale problems with special structure, namely tree structured problems. we show how the exploitation of the structure leads to efficient decomposition algorithms and how it may be implemented in a parallel environment.
