Assimilation of carbonate country rock by the parent magma of the Panzhihua Fe-Ti-V deposit(SW china):Evidence from stable isotopes

The Panzhihua intrusion in southwest china is part of the Emeishan Large Igneous Province and host of a large Fe-Ti-V ore *** emplacement of the main intrusion,multiple generations of mafic dykes invaded carbonate wall rocks,producing a large contact *** measured the oxygen-isotope composition of the intrusions,their constituent minerals,and samples of the country *** and plagioclase from Panzhihua intrusion haveδ18O values that are consistent with magmatic equilibrium, and formed from magmas withδ18O values that were 1-2‰higher than expected in a mantle-derived *** unmetamorphosed country rock has highδ18O values,ranging from 13.2‰（sandstone） to 24.6-28.6‰（dolomite）.The skarns and marbles from the aureole have lowerδ18O andδ13C values than their protolith suggesting interaction with fluids that were in exchange equilibrium with the adjacent mafic magmas and especially the numerous mafic dykes that intruded the *** would explain the alteration ofδ18O of the dykes which have significantly higher values than expected for a mantle-derived *** on the exactδ18O values assumed for the magma and contaminant, the amount of assimilation required to produce the elevatedδ18O value of the Panzhihua intrusion was between 8 and 13.7 wt.%,assuming simple *** exact mechanism of contamination is unclear but may involve a combination of assimilation of bulk country rock,mixing with a melt of the country rock and exchange with CO2-rich fluid derived from decarbonation of the marls and *** mechanisms,particularly the latter,were probably involved in the formation of the Fe-Ti-V ores.

BaZnzCo2-zFe16O27/SiO2 microcrystalline glass ceramics with Z=0.0, 0.5, 0.8 and 1.1 were prepared at temperature 1200℃ for 5h by citrate sol-gel process. The complex dielectric constant and complex permeability of BaZnzCo2-zFe16 O27/SiO2-paraffin wax composites had been measured. Both the complex dielectric constant and dielectric loss exhibit almost no variation with frequency in 0.1-6.0Ghz. The real part of permeability decreases with increasing frequency for all samples, and the imaginary part of permeability exhibits a clear resonance peak at 1.44Ghz for Co2 W/SiO2, 1.32Ghz for Zn0.5Co1.5 W/SiO2, 1.20Ghz for Zn0.8Co1.2W/SiO2, and 1.08Ghz for Zn1.1 Co0.9 W/SiO2. It is also showed that the content of zinc has a close effect on the magnetic properties of BaZnzCo2-zFe16O27/SiO2 microcrystalline glass ceramics, the greater the zinc content, the higher the values of imaginary part of permeability and magnetic loss.

PLASMA SPRAYED Ti AND hA COATINGS: A COMPARATIVE STUDY BETWEEN APS AND VPS

Titanium (Ti) and hydroxyapatite (hA) coatings have been prepared via air (APS) and vacuum plasma spraying (VPS), and then their composition, structure, bonding strength and bioactivity were examined. The results obtained reveal that in APS process many of Ti were oxidized, but in VPS the oxidization was avoided. VPS T i coating possesses better bonding condition than APS Ti coating. As for hA coat ing, higher crystallinity has been obtained while the coating was deposited by V PS as compared with APS. The simulated body fluid (SBF) tests show that both of APS and VPS hA coatings possess good bioactivity. As compared with APS, VPS is r ecommended as a better method to deposit Ti and hA coatings that can be applied as hard tissue replacement implants.

Phenotypic variation in organisms depends on the genotype and the environmental constraints of the habitat that they ***,for marine species inhabiting contrasting aquatic conditions,it is expected toﬁnd covari-ation between the shape and its spatial *** studied the morphology of the head and cephalic sensory canals of the eelpout Austrolycus depressiceps(4.5–22.5 cm TL)across its latitudinal distribution in South Paciﬁc(45°S–55°S).Geometric morphometric analyses show that the shape varied from individuals with larger snout and an extended suborbital canal to individuals with shorter snouts and frontally compressed suborbital *** was size variation across the sampled populations,but that size does not have a clear latitudinal *** 8%of the shape variation relates to this size variation(allometry),represented by a decrease in the relative size of the eye,and a depression of the posterior margin of the *** were spatial differences in the shape of the head,but these differences were probably caused by allometric ***,2 of the canals of the cephalic lateralis pores and the head shape showed modularity in its *** study shows that the morphology of marineﬁsh with a shallow distribution varies across distances of hundreds of kilometers(i.e.,phenotypic modulation).

Using SPOT 5 fusion-ready imagery to detect chinese tamarisk(saltcedar)with mathematical morphological method

chinese tamarisk(saltcedar)is a deciduous shrub that occurs widely across the Yellow River Delta in *** spatial structure of chinese tamarisk is believed to have an influence on the landscape and habitats of rare *** this study,first,chinese tamarisk is detected using Canny edge detector and mathematical morphological operators based on SPOT 5 fusion-ready *** the numbers,areas,locations,and patch spacing of chinese tamarisk patches are *** experiments show that the detection accuracy of chinese tamarisk patches is about 93.4%after the disconnection of connected *** distribution orientation of about 70%of the patches is approximately *** 91%of the minimum distances among the patches are between 12.5 and 57.5 *** rose graph indicates that the main azimuth between patches is north--northwest,and the second is northeast and *** present study indicates that the integrating Canny edge detector with the algorithms for extracting circular and elliptical objects based on mathematical morphology is simple and effective for detecting chinese tamarisk patches and is easy to identify the spatial structure of chinese tamarisk patches,which reduces the time and labor for the visual interpretation of chinese tamarisk patches.

PhOTOCATALYTIC PERFORMANCE OF PLASMA SPRAYED TiO_2-ZnFe_2O_4 COATINGS

A novel TiO2-ZnFe2O4 coating is prepared by plasma spraying. The effects of spra ying parameters and the composition of powders on the microstructure, surface mo rphology and photo-absorption of plasma sprayed coatings are studied. The photoc atalytic efficiency of the as-sprayed coatings is evaluated through the photo mi neralization of methylene blue. It was found that TiO2 coatings can decompose me thylene blue under the illumination of ultraviolet rays, and the degrading effic iency is improved with an increase in the content of FeTiO3 in the coatings. how ever, the presence of large amount of ZnFe2O4 compound will substantially lower the photocatalytic efficiency of the TiO2-ZnFe2O4 coatings for the unfavorable p hoto-excited electron-hole transfer process.

Antibiotic Resistance and heavy Metals Tolerance in Gram-Negative Bacteria from Diseased American Bullfrog (Rana catesbeiana) Cultured in Malaysia

A total of 140 bacterial isolates have been successfully isolated from various organs of diseased American bullfrog （Rana catesbeiana） cultured in Malaysia. The most frequently isolated bacteria was Edwardsiella spp. （46 isolates） followed by Aeromonas spp. （33 isolates）, Flavobacterium spp. （31 isolates）, and Vibrio spp. （30 isolates）. Majority of the bacterial isolates were found sensitive to furazolidone （85.0%）, chloramphenicol （85.0%）, oxolinic acid （90.0%）, florfenicol （95.0%）, and flumequine （97.5%）. On the other hand, most of the bacterial isolates were resistant to oleandomycin （77.5%） and lincomycin （87.5%）. Nitrofurantoin and flumequine can be inhibited the growth of all of Vibrio spp. whereas all isolates of Edwardsiella spp. were found sensitive to florfenicol and flumequine. Multiple antibiotic resistance （MAR） index were in range of 0.30-0.40, indicating that bacterial isolates from cultured bullfrogs may have received high risk exposure to the tested antibiotics. In addition, 90-100% of the isolates were resistant to copper, cadmium, and chromium. These results provided insight information on tolerance level of bacterial isolates from cultured bullfrogs to 21 antibiotics as well as heavy metals.

Acute liver failure due to natural killer-like T-cell leukemia/ lymphoma: A case report and review of the Literature

Acute liver failure （ALF） is a medical emergency requiring immediate evaluation for liver transplantation. We describe an unusual case of a patient who presented with ascites, jaundice, and encephalopathy and was found to have ALF due to natural killer （NK）-Iike T cell leukemia/lymphoma. The key immunophenotype was CD2＋, CD3＋, CD7＋, CD56＋. This diagnosis, which was based on findings in the peripheral blood and ascitic fluid, was confirmed with liver biopsy, and was a contraindication to liver transplantation. A review of the literature shows that hematologic malignancies are an uncommon cause of fulminant hepatic failure, and that NK-like T-cell leukemia/lymphoma is a relatively recently recognized entity which is characteristically CD3＋ and CD56＋. This case demonstrates that liver biopsy is essential in diagnosing unusual causes of acute liver failure, and that infiltration of the liver with NK-like T-cell lymphoma/leukemia can cause acute liver failure.

Critical transitions in the shape morphing of kirigami metallic glass

Kirigami, the ancient Japanese paper cutting technique, has been applied to achieve high stretchability and low energy loss of designed metallic glass. Despite the exploration of the underlying deformation mechanism of kirigami-inspired structures from the energy point of view, the morphable responses of the kirigami patterns and the origin of the kirigami response are yet to be fully understood. This study reveals the mechanical driven-forms of the kirigami structure with the corresponding deformation stages. Based on the beam deflection theory, the elastic buckling behavior of kirigami metallic glass is manifested and a critical force prediction model is developed. Moreover, a force concentration parameter is introduced in the rigid-plastic deformation stage, predicting the nominal ultimate force. The kirigami-inspired facture force is firstly proposed. The findings of these models are in good agreement with the experimental sizedependent kirigami responses, and expected to provide significant insights into the understanding of the deformation behavior and the design of kirigami metallic glasses.
