Heart failure represents the end point of a variety of cardiovascular *** is a growing health burden and a leading cause of death *** date,limited treatment options exist for the treatment of heart failure,but exercise has been well-established as one of the few safe and effective interventions,leading to improved outcomes in ***,a lack of patient adherence remains a significant barrier in the implementation of exercise-based therapy for the treatment of heart *** insulin-like growth factor 1(IGF1)phosphoinositide 3-kinase(PI3k)pathway has been recognized as perhaps the most critical pathway for mediating exercisedinduced heart growth and ***,we discuss how modulating activity of the IGF1PI3k pathway may be a valuable approach for the development of therapies that mimic the protective effects of exercise on the *** outline some of the promising approaches being investigated that utilize PI3k-based therapy for the treatment of heart *** discuss the implications for cardiac pathology and cardiotoxicity that arise in a setting of reduced PI3k ***,we discuss the use of animal models of cardiac health and disease,and genetic mice with increased or decreased cardiac PI3k activity for the discovery of novel drug targets and biomarkers of cardiovascular disease.

Efficient photocatalytic reduction of CO2 to formate by a molecular noble metal-free system

Reducing CO2to carbon-neutral solar fuels can not only alleviate the energy demand but also mitigate the greenhouse *** present,developing an efficient non-noble metal photo/electrocatalytic system for converting CO2to a specific product beyond CO is still a big ***,we report a new cobalt complex bearing 2,2′-bi-1,10-phenanthroline ligand that can photocatalytically reduce CO2to formate （HCOO-）.Turnover number （TON） for HCOO-up to 677 with 99%selectivity can be achieved using organic dyes purpurin as photosensitizer and 1,3-dimethyl-2-phenyl-2,3-dihydro-1H-benzo[d]imidazole （BIH） as sacrificial reductant in a CO2-saturated NmP/TEA （v/v,3:1） solution under visible light *** potential electrolysis at-1.41 V （***/Ag Cl） in the presence of 12 m m Et3NHBF4also produced HCOO-with Faradaic efficiency of 39%.Spectroscopic and electrochemical studies suggest that a[CoI-H]species is the key intermediate for CO2reduction.

A uniform experimental design(UED)is an extremely used powerful and efficient methodology for designing experiments with high-dimensional inputs,limited resources and unknown underlying models.A UED enjoys the following two significant advantages:(i)It is a robust design,since it does not require to specify a model before experimenters conduct their experiments;and(ii)it provides uniformly scatter design points in the experimental domain,thus it gives a good representation of this domain with fewer experimental trials(runs).many real-life experiments involve hundreds or thousands of active factors and thus large UEDs are *** large UEDs using the existing techniques is an NP-hard problem,an extremely time-consuming heuristic search process and a satisfactory result is not *** paper presents a new effective and easy technique,adjusted Gray map technique(AGmT),for constructing(nearly)UEDs with large numbers of four-level factors and runs by converting designs with s two-level factors and n runs to(nearly)UEDs with 2^(t−1)s four-level factors and 2tn runs for any t≥0 using two simple transformation *** justifications for the uniformity of the resulting four-level designs are given,which provide some necessary and/or sufficient conditions for obtaining(nearly)uniform four-level *** results show that the AGmT is much easier and better than the existing widely used techniques and it can be effectively used to simply generate new recommended large(nearly)UEDs with four-level factors.

The current healthcare system in Hong kong is experiencing pressure due to constrained resources,with dramatic increases in inpatient services queue lengths,dissatisfaction with the working environment,unacceptable workforce arrangements and high turnover rate of hospital *** maintain the robustness of the healthcare system and a sustainable inpatients flow,the Food and Health Bureau launched a public-private partnership programme to utilise the resources of the public and private *** research investigates the potential for extension of the programme and further enhancing the sustainability of the long-term inpatient services under a mixed public-private healthcare policy via system dynamic *** findings show that an increase of human resources in public hospitals does not substantially improve inpatient flow rate ***,the results from the system dynamic approach provide insights into the expansion of the service areas of the programme and suggest increasing the number of referrals to private hospitals.

Cross-Entropy Loss for Recommending Efficient Fold-Over Technique

Due to the limited resources and budgets in many real-life projects, it is unaffordable to use full factorial experimental designs and thus fractional factorial(FF) designs are used instead. The aliasing of factorial effects is the price we pay for using FF designs and thus some significant effects cannot be estimated. Therefore, some additional observations(runs) are needed to break the linages among the factorial effects. Folding over the initial FF designs is one of the significant approaches for selecting the additional runs. This paper gives an in-depth look at fold-over techniques via the following four significant contributions. The first contribution is on discussing the adjusted switching levels foldover technique to overcome the limitation of the classical one. The second contribution is on presenting a comparison study among the widely used fold-over techniques to help experimenters to recommend a suitable fold-over technique for their experiments by answering the following two fundamental questions:Do these techniques dramatically lessen the confounding of the initial designs, and do the resulting combined designs(combining initial design with its fold-over) via these techniques have considerable difference from the optimality point of view considering the markedly different searching domains in each technique? The optimality criteria are the aberration, confounding, Hamming distance and uniformity. many of these criteria are given in sequences(patterns) form, which are inconvenient and costly to represent and compare, especially when the designs have many factors. The third innovation is on developing a new criterion(dictionary cross-entropy loss) to simplify the existing criteria fromsequence to scalar. The new criterion leads to a more straightforward and easy comparison study. The final contribution is on establishing a general framework for the connections between initial designs and combined designs based on any fold-over technique.

A new photocatalyst,PdS@NH_(2)-mIL-125(Ti)@ZnS(PdS/m125/ZnS)heterojunction is fabricated for photo-catalytic H_(2)generation for the first time,where PdS nanoparticles are anchored in the pore of m125 by utilizing its confinement effect,and the ZnS is closely wrapped on the surfaces of the *** optimal photocatalyst exhibits a significantly enhanced H_(2)generation rate of 1164.2μmol/g/h,while the pure m125 only displays a H_(2)generation rate of 16.7μmol/g/*** resultant improvement can be ascribed to the following comprehensive *** hierarchical structure built by PdS,m125,and ZnS can form lots of intimate interfaces,offer abundant sites for reaction,and smooth channels for charge carri-ers due to the porous characteristics of ***,m125 and ZnS with inner defect levels form an analogous type-II heterojunction assisted by PdS co-catalyst,which greatly promotes charge *** work may supply a new avenue to design mOFs photocatalysts for energy conversion.

Objective:To evaluate the potential toxic effects of mine tailings exposure among the fisher folks residing near and far from the Calancan Bay,marinduque,using the micronucleus assay as an ***:The fisher folks residing near and far from the Calancan Bay were interviewed and the presence and frequency of cells with micronucleus in exfoliated buccal epithelial cells were ***:Results showed that the prevalence of cells with micronucleus was higher among the fisher folks who were directly exposed to the mine tailings as compared with those fisher folks who reside in a community without exposure of mine tailings and history of mining(Pmicronuclei observed near the Calancan Bay could possibly indicate a prolonged chemical stress caused by the toxic heavy metals in the mine tailings and the environment.

Adsorption Isotherm Study of Activated Fruit Peels for Copper Removal

Heavy metal polluted water threatens the integrity of *** use of agricultural waste as adsorbent becomes popular due to its biodegradability and ***,limited research works has been done to process agricultural waste for heavy metal adsorption *** objective of this study is to propose a new approach to treat banana peel using ZnCl_(2) prior to alkali and acid treatment and explore the potential of dragon fruit peels as the adsorbent for Cu^(2+)*** adsorption isotherm was adopted to identify the adsorption mechanism and four statistical parameters were calculated for model verification *** experiment was conducted by dispersing ZnCl_(2) treated and untreated adsorbents into Cu^(2+) *** showed that ZnCl_(2) treated adsorbents performed better in terms of Cu^(2+) removal compared with untreated adsorbents due to higher surface area for Cu^(2+) *** treated banana peel(Act.-B)performed approximately 30%better than the treated dragon fruit peel(Act.-D)due to the presence of hydroxyl and carboxyl *** equilibrium adsorptive capacity of Act.-B was 1872.8 mg Cu^(2+)/g and the experimental data fitted Freundlich isotherm well with R^(2)=0.9978,0.0161 of residual sum of error(SSE),0.0068 of χ^(2),and 0.0567 of root mean square error(RmSE)*** suggests non⁃linear adsorption and multilayer adsorption on heterogenous ***,it is recommended to further improve the surface properties of Act.-B by steam pyrolysis and surface modification.

Roles of SlETR7,a newly discovered ethylene receptor,in tomato plant and fruit development

Ethylene regulates many aspects of plant growth and *** is perceived by a family of ethylene receptors(ETRs)that have been well ***,a full understanding of ETR function is complicated by functional redundancy between the receptor ***,we characterize a new ETR,SlETR7,that was revealed by tomato genome ***7 expression in tomato fruit pericarp increases when the fruit ripens and its expression is synchronized with the expression of SlETR1,SlETR2,and SlETR5 which occurs later in the ripening phase than the increase observed for SlETR3,SlETR4,and *** uncovered an error in the SlETR7 sequence as documented in the ITAG 3 versions of the tomato genome which has now been corrected in ITAG 4,and we showed that it belongs to sub-family *** also showed that SlETR7 specifically binds ***(OE)of SlETR7 resulted in earlier flowering,shorter plants,and smaller fruit than wild ***-out(kO)mutants of SlETR7 produced more ethylene at breaker(Br)and Br+2 days stages compared to wild type(WT),but there were no other obvious changes in the plant and fruit in these mutant *** observed that expression of the other SlETRs is upregulated in fruit of SlETR7 kO mutants,which may explain the absence of obvious ripening ***,these results show that SlETR7 is a functional ethylene *** work is needed to better understand its specific roles related to the six other tomato ETRs.

Synthesis, radiolabeling and biological evaluation of butene amine oxime containing nitrotriazole as a tumor hypoxia marker

^(99m)Tc-BnAO, as a nonnitroaromatic hypoxia marker, is the subject of intensive research in recent years. In this study, a butene amine oxime–nitrotriazole(Bn AO–NT)was synthesized and radiolabeled with ^(99m)Tc in high *** uptakes of^(99m)Tc-Bn AO–NT and ^(99m)Tc-Bn AO were tested using murine sarcoma S180 and hepatoma H22 cell lines. The highest hypoxic cellular uptake of^(99m)TcBn AO–NT was 27.11 ± 0.73 and 14.85 ± 0.83 % for the S180 and H22 cell lines, respectively, whereas the normoxic cellular uptake of the complex was about 4–8 % for both cell lines. For^(99m)Tc-Bn AO, the highest hypoxic cellular uptake was 30.79 ± 0.44 and 9.66 ± 1.20 % for the S180 and H22 cell lines, respectively, while the normoxic cellular uptake was about 5 % for both cell lines. Both^(99m)Tc-Bn AO–NT and^(99m)Tc-Bn AO complexes showed hypoxic/normoxic differentials in the two cell lines, but the results were more significant for the S180 cell line. The in vitro results suggested that S180 may be better than H22 cell line in hypoxic biological evaluation of Bn AO complexes. The biodistribution study was tested using a S180 tumor model. The complex^(99m)Tc-Bn AO–NT showed a selective enrichment in tumor tissues: At 4 h, the tumor-to-muscle ratio was 3.79 ± 0.98 and the tumor-to-blood ratio was 2.31 ± *** with the results of ^(99m)Tc-Bn AO, the latter was at the same level. In vitro and in vivo studies demonstrated that ^(99m)Tc-Bn AO–NT could be a hypoxia-sensitive radiotracer for monitoring hypoxic regions in a sarcoma S180 tumor.
