This study aims to investigate the ability of an imidazolium biobased Zwitterionic Ionic Liquids(ZILs)in enhancing the phytoavailability of copper from garden(G)and vineyard(V)soils using the model plant *** and artificially contaminated cuSO_(4) soils,unamended and ZIL-amended soil modalities were *** copper/ZIL molar ratio(1/4)introduced was rationally established based on molecular modeling and on the maximal copper concentration in artificially contaminated *** accumulation of copper in the shoots was detected for the uncontaminated and copper contaminated ZIL amended V soils(18.9 and 23.3 mg/kg,respectively)contrary to G soils together with a ZIL concentration of around 3%(W/W)detected by Lc-MS *** data evidenced a cu-accumulation improvement of 38%and 66%compared to non-amended V soils(13.6 and 13.9 mg/kg respectively).ZIL would be mainly present under cu(II)-ZIL_(4) complexes in the *** impact on the chemical composition of shoot was also *** results show that depending on the soils modalitity,the presence of free copper and/or ZIL led to different chemical compositions in lignin and monomeric sugar *** the biorefinery context,performances of enzymatic hydrolysis of shoots were also related to the presence of both ZIL and copper under free or complex *** assessment of the vineyard soil samples indicated that the quantity of copper and ZIL remaining in the soils had no significant *** amendment in a copper-contaminated soil was demonstrated as being a promising way to promote the valorization of phytoremediation plants.

Background Examining the health outcomes of veterans who have completed the United States Veterans Health Administration’s(VHA’s)Traumatic Brain Injury(TBI)Screening and Evaluation Program may aid in the refinement and improvement of clinical care initiatives within the *** study compared self-reported physical functioning,cardiometabolic health conditions,and health care utilization patterns in Million Veteran Program enrollees with TBI Screening and Evaluation Program data(collected between 2007 and 2019),with the goal of enhancing understanding of potentially modifiable health conditions in this *** In this observational cohort study,veterans(n=16,452)were grouped based on the diagnostic outcome of the TBI Screening and Evaluation Program:1)negative TBI screen(Screen^(-));2)positive TBI screen but no confirmed TBI diagnosis[Screen^(+)/comprehensive TBI Evaluation(cTBIE)^(-)];or 3)positive TBI screen and confirmed TBI diagnosis(Screen^(+)/cTBIE^(+)).chi-square tests and analysis of covariance were used to explore group differences in physical functioning,cardiometabolic health conditions,and health care utilization patterns,and logistic regressions were used to examine predictors of Screen^(+/-)and cTBIE^(+/-)group *** The results showed that veterans in the Screen^(+)/cTBIE^(-)and Screen^(+)/cTBIE^(+)groups generally reported poorer levels of physical functioning(P’scardiometabolic health conditions(P’screased health care utilization(P’s0.5)compared with the Screen-group;however,health outcomes were generally comparable between the Screen^(+)/cTBIE^(-)and Screen^(+)/cTBIE^(+)***-up analyses confirmed that while physical functioning,hypertension,stroke,healthcare utilization,and prescription medication use reliably distinguished between the Screen-and Screen^(+)groups(P’scal functioning distinguished bet

Evolution and predictive factors of thyroid disorder due to interferon alpha in the treatment of hepatitis c

AIM： To study predictive factors of thyroid dysfunction associated with interferon-alpha （IFNa） therapy in chronic hepatitis c （cHc） and to describe its long-term evolution in a large population without previous thyroid dysfunction. METHODS： We performed a follow-up of thyroid function and detection of thyroid antibodies in 301 patients treated for cHc with IFNα from 1999 to 2004. RESULTS： Thyroid disorder developed in 30/301 （10%） patients with a mean delay of 6 ± 3.75 mo： 13 patients had hyperthyroidism, 11 had hypothyroidism, and 6 had biphasic evolution. During a mean follow-up of 41.59 ± 15.39 mo, 9 patients with hyperthyroidism, 3 with hypothyroidism, and 4 with biphasic evolution normalized thyroid function in 7.88 ± 5.46 mo. Recovery rate of dysthyroidism was not modified by treatment discontinuation, but was better for patients with negative thyroid antibodies before antiviral treatment （P = 0.02）. Women had significantly more dysthyroidism （P = 0.05）. Positive thyroid peroxidase and thyroglobulin antibodies were more frequent before antiviral treatment in patients who developed dysthyroidism （P 〈 0.0003 and P = 0.0003, respectively）. In a multivariate model, low fibrosis was found to be a predictive factor of dysthyroidism （P = 0.039）.cONcLUSION： In this monocentric population of cHc, dysthyroidism, especially hyperthyroidism, developed in 10% of patients, Low fibrosis was found to be a predictive factor of dysthyroidism, Thyroid disorder recovered in 16/30 patients （53%） and recovery was better in the non-autoimrnune form,

The therapeutic promise of small interfering RNAs （siRNAs） for specific gene silencing is dependent on the successful delivery of functional siRNAs to the cytoplasm. Their conjugation to an established delivery platform, such as gold nanoparticles, offers tremendous potential for treating diseases and advancing our understanding of cellular processes. Their success or failure is dependent on both the uptake of the nanoparticles into the cells and subsequent intracellular release of the functional siRNA. In this study, utilizing gold nanoparticle siRNA-mediated delivery against c-MYc, we aimed to determine if we could achieve knockdown in a cancer cell line with low levels of intracellular glutathione, and determine the influence, if any, of polyethylene glycol （PEG） ligand density on knockdown, with a view to determining the optimal nanoparticle design to achieve c-MYc knockdown. We demonstrate that, regardless of the PEG density, knockdown in cells with relatively low glutathione levels can be achieved, as well as the possible effect of steric hindrance of PEG on the availability of the siRNA for cleavage in the intracellular environment. Gold nanoparticle uptake was demonstrated via transmission electron microscopy and mass spectroscopy, while knockdown was determined at the protein and physiological levels （cells in S-phase） by in-cell westerns and BrdU incorporation, respectively.

Epi-up and epi-down bonding of high power 980nm lasers have been studied in terms of bonding process, thermal behavior, optical performances, thermal stress effects and long-term laser reliability. We demonstrated that epi-down bonding can offer lower thermal resistance and improved optical performances without significantly degrading the long-term laser reliability.

cOVID-19 severe symptoms and high mortality are mainly seen in elders with age-associated diseases who have mitochondrial dysfunction. Mitochondrial dysfunction is a vulnerability and comorbidity of cOVID-19. cytokine storm, and increased serum iron and ferritin and reactive oxygen species (ROS) in cOVID-19 further damage mitochondria. Amelioration of mitochondrial dysfunction may be a strategy of prevention and treatment of cOVID-19. We also describe mitochondrial organelle transplantation (MOT) which has restored mitochondrial function, improved the repair of injured tissues and suppressed hyperinflammation in life-threatening sepsis. MOT is a potential therapy for severe cOVID-19. Finally, we report the first case of MOT for a severe cOVID-19 patient. MOT is safe and might have beneficial effect on the severe cOVID-19.

Different La2O3 contents（0, 1, 2, 3, and 5 wt%） were used to prepared La2O3-ZrO2 mixed oxides calcined at 600 ℃ by the sol-gel method. The catalytic activity was measured as biodiesel production from canola oil through a transesterification reaction. The characterization results indicate that the La2O3 monolayer formation and extent of basicity of m-ZrO2 have a large influence on biodiesel *** biodiesel conversion（56% at 4 h） was obtained with the 3% La2O3-ZrO2 catalyst in the presence of basic sites and the formation of a monolayer of La2O3. The decrease in the catalytic activity for 5% La2O3-ZrO2 resulted from the loss of active sites on the catalyst because of agglomeration, which was suggested by XPS and the isoelectric point. The kinetic data fit to a pseudo-first order constant, and the largest kinetic constant corresponds to 3% La2O3-ZrO2, currently the largest heterogeneous non-alkaline metal catalyst reported for a transesterification reaction.
