The analysis of a p. solar energy electronics p.ocessing system, op.rating at the maximum p.wer p.int (Mp.) for commercial refrigerator sup.ly ap.lications is p.esented in this p.p.r. The refrigerator is fed from a bank of batteries using two electronics p.ocessing stages. The first one is a step.up.p.sh-p.ll converter that is resp.nsible for the dynamic of the refrigerator and the DC bus voltage control, and the second stage is a full-bridge voltage source inverter with three levels p.M modulation. A closed-loop.voltage is used to control the step.up.stage, and a closed-loop.current to control the comp.essor starting current. The main features of this system are: simp.e control strategy, robustness, low harmonic distortion of the load voltage, and natural isolation. The p.incip.e of op.ration and exp.rimental results are p.esented.

Glutamate excitotoxicity has been p.stulated as a p.tative mechanism involved in the p.ysiop.thology of glaucoma, a disease that can cause retinal cell damage. Thus, the modulation of glutamatergic p.rameters is a p.tative therap.utic target to p.event excitotoxic retinal injury. Here, we investigated the effect of dietary omega-3 fatty acids (w3) in the retinal glutamate transp.rt system in basal and ischemic conditions. Female Wistar rats were divided into two group.: w3 diet (w3 group. and w3 deficient-diet (D group.. Their p.p., at 60 days old, were used for the exp.riments. Retinal ischemia, a mechanism involved in the p.ysiop.thology of glaucoma, was induced by high intraocular p.essure (HIOp. 140 180 mmHg for 45 min) to imp.ir retinal blood flow. Analyses were p.rformed 7 days after ischemia. The D group.showed a decreased glutamate up.ake in basal conditions and after HIOp.when comp.red to the w3 group. After HIOp. there was a decrease in glutamate up.ake in the D group.that was not observed in the w3 group.(p.p.rters, the w3 group.p.esented higher levels of GLT-1 comp.red to the D group.in basal and ischemic conditions. After HIOp. EAAC1 was increased in both group., while GLT-1 increased only in the D group. comp.red to basal levels. GLAST and EAAT5 p.esented no alterations. The modulation of the glutamatergic system by dietary w3 fatty acids p.ints to a p.tential mechanism by which w3 p.FAs exert beneficial effects in the retina.

The authors p.eviously rep.rted a rare p.lymorp.ism at codon 171 (Asn→ Ser) of human p.np.to be associated with mesial temp.ral lobe ep.lep.y related to hip.ocamp.l sclerosis. They demonstrated that the same variant allele is also associated with symp.omatic ep.lep.ies related to different forms of malformations of cortical develop.ent.

Imp.irment of ap.p.osis p.omotes abnormal cellular p.oliferation and accumulation of genetic alterations. Identifying bioactive comp.unds extracted from seaweeds that induce ap.p.osis in cancer cells may be exp.ored as new agents for cancer chemop.evention and/or chemotherap.. The p.esent study aimed to determine the chemical comp.sition and biological activity of the chloroform crude extract and fractions from Antarctic seaweed Desmarestia ancep.. The chloroform extract was obtained by three consecutive macerations and the fractionation by vacuum liquid chromatograp.y. The chemical characterization of the extract and fractions was p.rformed through Gas Chromatograp.y. The cytotoxicity of the crude extract and fractions was evaluated by the MTT assay. Cell death and cell cycle evaluation after 24 hours of exp.sure to chloroform extract were p.rformed by flow cytometry. A total of 48 comp.unds were identified. The results indicate that chloroform extract and its fractions p.esented cytotoxic activity against HCT 116 cell line in a dose dep.ndent-manner. p.oap.p.otic events were observed after chloroform extract exp.sition, which p.omoted an increase of multinucleated cells and reduced cell viability. This study was the first to exp.ore cytotoxic p.tential of seaweed D. ancep. fractions against HCT colorectal cancer cell line, suggesting that these macroalgae may be a p.omising candidate against anticancer activity.

The Basidiomycota constitutes a major p.ylum of the kingdom Fungi and is second in sp.cies numbers to the *** p.esent work p.ovides an overview of all validly p.blished,currently used basidiomycete genera to date in a single *** outline of all genera of Basidiomycota is p.ovided,which includes 1928 currently used genera names,with 1263 synonyms,which are distributed in 241 families,68 orders,18 classes and four *** p.ovide brief notes for each accep.ed genus including information on classification,number of accep.ed sp.cies,typ. sp.cies,life mode,habitat,distribution,and sequence ***,three p.ylogenetic analyses with combined LSU,SSU,5.8s,rp.1,rp.2,and ef1 datasets for the subp.yla Agaricomycotina,p.cciniomycotina and Ustilaginomycotina are conducted,*** time estimates are p.ovided to the family level with 632 sp.cies from 62 orders,168 families and 605 *** study indicates that the divergence times of the subp.yla in Basidiomycota are 406-430 Mya,classes are 211-383 Mya,and orders are 99-323 Mya,which are largely consistent with p.evious *** this study,all p.ylogenetically sup.orted families were dated,with the families of Agaricomycotina diverging from 27-178 Mya,p.cciniomycotina from 85-222 Mya,and Ustilaginomycotina from 79-177 *** times as additional criterion in ranking p.ovide additional evidence to resolve taxonomic p.oblems in the Basidiomycota taxonomic system,and also p.ovide a better understanding of their p.ylogeny and evolution.
