Arsenic is a ubiquitous environmental ***-mediated arsenic biotransformations significantly infuence arsenic mobility and *** transformations by soil and aquatic organisms have been well documented,while little is known regarding effects due to endop.ytic *** endop.yte p.eudomonas p.tida ARS1 was isolated from rice grown in arsenic contaminated *** ARS1 shows high tolerance to arsenite(As(Ⅲ))and arsenate(As(V)),and exhibits efficient As(V)reduction and As(Ⅲ)effux *** exp.sed to 0.6 mg/L As(V),As(V)in the medium was comp.etely converted to As(Ⅲ)by *** ARS1 within 4 *** sequencing showed that *** ARS1 has two chromosomal arsenic resistance gene clusters(arsRCBH)that contribute to efficient As(V)reduction and As(Ⅲ)effux,and result in high resistance to *** globosa is a strong arsenic accumulator with high p.tential for arsenic p.ytoremediation,which takes up.As(Ⅲ)more efficiently than As(V).Co-culture of *** ARS1 and *** enhanced arsenic accumulation in *** by 69%,and resulted in 91%removal of arsenic(at initial concentration of 0.6 mg/L As(V))from water within 3 *** study p.ovides a p.omising strategy for in situ arsenic p.ytoremediation through the coop.ration of p.ant and endop.ytic bacterium.

This study exp.ores how the chemical interaction between magnesium hydride(MgH_(2))and the additive CrO_(3) influences the hydrogen/lithium storage characteristics of MgH_(2).We have observed that a 5 wt.%CrO_(3) additive reduces the dehydrogenation activation energy of MgH_(2) by 68 kJ/mol and lowers the required dehydrogenation temp.rature by 80℃.CrO_(3) added MgH_(2) was also tested as an anode in an Li ion battery,and it is p.ssible to deliver over 90%of the total theoretical cap.city(2038 mAh/g).Evidence for imp.oved reversibility in the battery reaction is found only after the incorp.ration of additives with MgH_(2).In dep.h characterization study by X-ray diffraction(XRD)technique p.ovides convincing evidence that the CrO_(3) additive interacts with MgH_(2) and p.oduces Cr/MgO *** free energy analyses confirm the thermodynamic feasibility of conversion from MgH_(2)/CrO_(3) to MgO/Cr,which is well sup.orted by the identification of Cr(0)in the p.wder by X ray p.otoelectron sp.ctroscop.(Xp.)*** high resolution transmission electron microscop.(HRTEM)and energy disp.rsive sp.ctroscop.(EDS)we found evidence for the p.esence of 5 nm size Cr nanocrystals on the surface of MgO rock salt *** is also convincing ground to consider that MgO rock salt accommodates Cr in the *** observations sup.ort the argument that creation of active metal–metal dissolved rock salt oxide interface may be vital for imp.oving the reactivity of MgH_(2),both for the imp.oved storage of hydrogen and lithium.

Orchiectomy is the recommended treatment for many testicular ***,testicular p.osthesis p.acement is not always p.rformed for different *** this study,we aimed to evaluate p.tients'op.nions and the imp.ct on sexual function and quality of *** retrosp.ctive observational single-center study included p.tients who underwent orchiectomy between January 2014 and December 2020 at the Dep.rtment of Urology,Braga's Hosp.tal(Braga,p.rtugal),where testicular imp.ants were always available and the decision to undergo the p.ocedure was made fully indep.ndent of *** comp.eted four questionnaires that assessed demograp.ic data,satisfaction,self-esteem,and sexual *** the 96 p.tients who underwent orchidectomy,59 rep.ied to the questionnaires,and of these p.tients,86.4%decided to undergo silicone-based testicular p.ostheses *** remaining 13.6%refused the imp.ant based on concerns about comp.ications(37.5%),because they felt that it was unnecessary(37.5%),or because it was not offered by the doctor(25.0%).Overall,96.1%of these p.tients were satisfied with the imp.ant;however,25.5%classified it as"too firm".No statistically significant differences were found in sexual function(all p.0.05).However,it can be observed that there are more p.tients with p.ostheses p.esenting normal sexual activity comp.red to p.tients without p.ostheses(74.0%vs 50.0%),and none of them rep.rted severe erectile dysfunction(0 vs 16.7%).Regarding self-esteem,both p.tients with and without p.ostheses p.esent very similar average scores with no statistically significant *** p.esent study highlights the highest level of satisfaction among p.tients who received testicular *** p.ostheses imp.antation is a safe p.ocedure that does not hamp.r sexual function after orchiectomy.

BACKGROUND Alp.a-1 antitryp.in deficiency(AATD)is a codominant autosomal hereditary condition that p.edisp.ses p.tients to the develop.ent of lung and/or liver disease,and p.*Z allele is the most clinically relevant *** To evaluate the imp.ct of clinical p.rameters and AATD p.enotyp.s,p.rticularly the p.*Z allele,in liver *** Cross-sectional cohort study including consecutive p.tients with AATD followed in p.lmonology or Hep.tology *** Included 69 p.tients,49.3%had p.*MZ p.enotyp. and 10.1%p.**** age≥55 years,age at diagnosis≥41 years and AAT at diagnosisp.edicted a nonalcoholic fatty liver disease fibrosis score(NFS)not excluding advanced fibrosis[area under the curve(AUC)=0.840,p.0.001;AUC=0.836,p.0.001;AUC=0.681,p.0.025].An age≥50 years and age at diagnosis≥41 years p.edicted a fibrosis-4 index of moderate to advanced fibrosis(AUC=0.831,p.0.001;AUC=0.795,p.0.001).p.tients with hyp.rtension,typ. 2 diabetes mellitus(DM),dyslip.daemia,metabolic syndrome,and regular alcohol consump.ion were more likely to have a NFS not excluding advanced fibrosis(p.0.001,p.0.002,p.0.008,p.0.001,p.0.033).p.tients with at least one p.*Z allele and typ. 2 DM were 8 times more likely to have liver stiffness measurement≥7.1 kp.(p.0.040).CONCLUSION Risk factors for liver disease in AATD included an age≥50 years,age at diagnosis≥41 years,metabolic risk factors,regular alcohol consump.ion,at least one p.*Z allele,and AAT value at diagnosisp.tients to use in p.imary care,selecting those to be referred to Hep.tology consultation.

Addressing soil p.otection concerns in forest ecosystem management under climate change

Background: Climate change may strongly influence soil erosion risk, namely through variations in the p.ecip.tation p.ttern. Forests may contribute to mitigate the imp.cts of climate change on soil erosion and forest managers are thus challenged by the need to define strategies that may p.otect the soil while addressing the demand for other ecosystem services. Our emp.asis is on the develop.ent of an ap.roach to assess the imp.ct of silvicultural p.actices and forest management models on soil erosion risks under climate change. Sp.cifically, we consider the annual variation of the cover-management factor(C) in the Revised Universal Soil Loss Equation over a range of alternative forest management models to estimate the corresp.nding annual soil losses, under both current and changing climate conditions. We rep.rt and discuss results of an ap.lication of this ap.roach to a forest area in Northwestern p.rtugal where erosion control is the most relevant water-related ecosystem ***: Local climate change scenarios will contribute to water erosion p.ocesses, mostly by rainfall erosivity *** forest management models p.ovide varying levels of soil p.otection by trees, resulting in distinct soil loss ***: Results confirm the suitability of the p.op.sed ap.roach to address soil erosion concerns in forest management p.anning. This ap.roach may help.foresters assess management models and the corresp.nding silvicultural p.actices according to the water-related services they p.ovide.

p.otocatalytic Hp.oduction has emerged as one of the most clean and p.omising renewable energy sources. In sp.te of the efforts to obtain efficient p.otocatalysts able to p.oduce Hfrom Sun light and water, there is still the need to p.ep.re cheap.r and environmental friendlier p.otocatalysts. p.osp.atebased materials could be good candidates to fulfill these requirements. In this manuscrip. we have p.ep.red a set of mixed Ti/Tivalence, op.n-framework titanium p.osp.ates（of-Tip.） and mixed titanium oxide/p.osp.ate derivatives（cr-Ti p., correlating their structure and comp.sition with the p.otocatalytic activity for Hp.oduction. We determined that mixed titanium oxide/p.osp.ate crystalline p.ases p.oduced enhanced Hevolution under Sun simulated light irradiation than mixed Ti/Tivalence, op.n-framework titanium p.osp.ates and titanium oxide p.ases.

p.lymeric nanop.rticles of p.ly(methyl methacrylate)were obtained by emulsion p.lymerization techniques in a p.oce ss of two *** p.rticles were functionalized with acrylic acid,curcumin,and fumaramide and three series of p.lymeric p.rticles were *** incorp.ration of functional group. was confirmed by Fourier transform-infrared sp.ctrosocop.(FT-IR)and ultraviolet-visible(UV-Vis)*** sp.erical morp.ology of p.rticles with an average diameter of 100 nm was observed by scartning electron microscop.(SEM).The p.lymeric materials were used for recovery of[Eu]from synthetic *** nanop.rticles show excellent chelation cap.city to trap.rare-earth ions,because they recover more than 85%of[Eu]at p. of *** images of SEM after extraction p.ocess show arrays between p.rticles with larger average p.rticle sizes to 1.5 *** addition,the p.rticles have a good strip.ing cap.city,exceeding 50%of it,maintaining their homogeneity in morp.ology and good stability in disp.rsion for the recovery and strip.ing p.ocesses.A p.eudo-second model order is obtained for the extraction and strip.ing p.ocesses while the best results of strip.ing p.ocess are obtained at p. of 6.
