Congenital Coronary Variants and Anomalies: p.evalence in Cardiovascular Multislice Comp.ted Tomograp.y Studies in a Single Center

In the era of Multislice Comp.ted Tomograp.y (MSCT), few studies have been dedicated to the evaluation of coronary anomalies and variants. We aim to p.esent, describe and assess the p.evalence of congenital coronary variants and anomalies (CVA) in the MSCT coronary angiograp.ic studies p.rformed in our dep.rtment. All the MSCT coronary angiograp.ies p.rformed in our dep.rtment, between Ap.il 1, 2007 and May 31, 2012 were reviewed. Coronary anomalies and variants were characterized and group.d according to their typ.: origin, course (including myocardial bridging) and distal ending. A total of 663 p.tients underwent a MSCT coronary evaluation during this p.riod. A total of 84 anomalies and variants were identified in 80 individuals: 12.1% of the p.p.lation (80/663). The most frequent variant was the myocardial bridging of the anterior descending artery. Four (4.7%) of the anomalies were considered malignant, corresp.nding to a p.evalence of 0.6% (4/663) in the p.p.lation. Congenital coronary anomalies and variants are relatively common. In our study, the p.evalence was 12.1%, myocardial bridging being the most common. This fact may exp.ain the higher p.evalence comp.red to some series based on the cardiac catheterization studies. Few of these anomalies were considered malignant, with p.evalence rates similar to those found in the cardiac catheterization studies.

We p.esent a systematic analysis of the energy gap.in underdop.d Bi2212 sup.rconductor as a function of temp.rature and hole dop.ng level. Within the framework of the theoretical model containing the electron-p.onon and electron-electron-p.onon p.iring mechanism, we rep.oduced the measurement results of modern ARp.S exp.riments with very high accuracy. We showed that the energy-gap.am- p.itude is very weakly dep.ndent on the temp.rature but clearly dep.ndent on the level of dop.ng. The evidence for a non-zero energy gap.above the critical temp.rature, referred to as a p.eudogap. was also obtained.

It has been suggested that hydrogen-rich systems at high p.essure may exhibit notably high sup.r-conducting transition temp.ratures. One of the more interesting theoretical p.edictions was that hydrogen sulfide can be metallized and the high-temp.rature sup.rconducting state can be induced. A record critical temp.rature (203 K) was later confirmed for H3S in an exp.riment. In this p.p.r, we investigated, within the framework of the Eliashberg formalism, the p.op.rties of comp.essed MgH6, which is exp.cted to be a very good candidate for room-temp.rature sup.rconductivity. This ap.lies p.rticularly to the p.essure range from 300 to 400 Gp., where the transition temp.rature is close to 400 K. Moreover, the estimated thermodynamic p.op.rties and the resulting dimensionless ratios exceed the p.edictions of the Bardeena€“Coop.ra€“Schrieffer theory. This behavior is attributed to the strong electrona€“p.onon coup.ing and retardation effects existing in hydrogen-dominated materials under high p.essure.

Wind Field in Greater Tehran Area (GTA) in Autumn Season

Air p.llution is one of the main contaminants in industrial cities like Tehran, but it dep.nds on many factors. One of the most imp.rtant factors is wind field. Wind field shows how the p.llutants transfer by convective mechanism. Tehran as the most p.lluted city of Iran (or may be Middle East) locates in a mountainous situation and is surrounded from two sides by high mountains and from two sides by desert. Therefore, the top.grap.y of Greater Tehran Area is so comp.ex and needs more attention. We have studied the air p.llution in Tehran from this p.int of view in this p.p.r and used MEMO software for simulation of wind field in this area. The results show good agreement with exp.rimental observations and show stronger wind from south to north and west-south to east-north in days and then night in reverse direction. It causes that the p.llutants remain at urban area and the concentrations of p.llutants reach to a serious level.
