Optimizing sampling frequency of surface and downhole measurements for efficient stick-slip vibration detection

Drilling vibrations significantly impact drilling operations with high costs due to early downhole equipment failure and loss of productive ***-slip vibrations,a severe form of torsional vibrations,is known to be present up to 50%of total drilling time,making it a topic of immense concern and *** ongoing discussion in the industry is regarding the reliability of surface measurements for early detection of severe downhole bit ***,most surface measurements are sampled at lower frequency rates closer to 1 ***,the implementation of advanced data acquisition modules in downhole subs has greatly improved our understanding of drilling vibrations through high resolution data,sampled up to 10 ***,with a wide range of sampling frequency to choose from different available tools,a critical question remains *** is an optimal and adequate sampling frequency for early detection of downhole vibrations using both surface and downhole measurements?The paper addresses the question with a focus on stick-slip vibrations through an experimental *** slip tests are repeated for different sampling frequencies of surface and downhole measurements and the stick slip index for each case is *** stick-slip index varies for different sampling frequency even though the vibration tests remain completely *** was inferred that sampling frequency of measurements greatly impact the detection of downhole *** though stick-slip vibrations are characteristically low frequency vibrations(2Hz),a minimum of 10Hz sampling frequency is recommended for detection of stick-slip ***,all characteristics of stick-slip vibrations including bit sticking,bit RPM peaks and negative bit RPMs are clearly observed at a minimum of 100Hz sampling rate.

Drilling is one of the most challenging and expensive processes in hydrocarbon extraction and geothermal well development. Dysfunctions faced during drilling can increase the non-productive time(NPT) greatly, resulting in inflating the drilling cost and also pose a safety concern. One of the main problems faced during drilling that limits the life of drilling equipment and tools and decreases the overall productivity of the system is drilling vibrations. These vibrations can be categorized into three modes: axial, lateral, and torsional. Stick-slip vibrations are a type of torsional vibration in which the bottom hole assembly(BHA) periodically stops to rotate followed by a spike in the bottom hole RPM. This paper provides a comprehensive review of techniques used to control and mitigate torsional vibration with an emphasis on stick-slip. A brief introduction to drillstring and friction modeling is presented followed by a concise summary of passive control techniques to control stick-slip. Then the focus is shifted to an up-to-date review of active control and machine learning for stick-slip control and mitigation. Exploring innovative synthetic solutions for advanced polymer-based electrochromic energy storage devices:Phenoxazine as a promising chromophore

The current investigation offers an innovative synthetic solution regarding electrochromic(EC)and energy storage applications by exploring phenoxazine(POZ)***,three POZ-based polymers(polyimide,polyazomethine,and polyamide)were synthesized to ascertain the superior *** polyamide exhibited remarkable attributes,including high redox stability during 500 repetitive CVs,optical contrast of 61.98%,rapid response times of 1.02 and 1.38 s for coloring and bleaching,EC efficiency of 280 cm^(2)C^(-1).and decays of the optical density and EC efficiency of only 12.18%and 6.23%after 1000 ***,the energy storage performance of polyamide PA was tested,for which the following parameters were obtained:74.7 F g^(-1)(CV,scan rate of 10 mV s^(-1))and 118 F g^(-1)(GCD,charging current of 0.1 A g^(-1)).Then,the polyamide was tested in EES devices,which yielded the following EC parameters:an optical contrast of 62.15%,response times of 9.24 and 5.01 s for coloring and bleaching,EC efficiency of 178 cm^(2)C^(-1),and moderate decays of 20.25%and 23.24%for the optical density and EC efficiency after 500 *** energy storage performance included a capacitance of 106 F g^(-1)(CV,scan rate of 0.1 mV s^(-1))and 9.23 F g^(-1)(GCD,charging current of 0.1 A g^(-1)),capacitance decay of 11.9%after500 cycles,and 1.7 V retention after 2 ***,two EES devices connected in series powered a 3 V LED for almost 30 s.

Study of Monte Carlo event generators for proton-proton collisions at LHC energies in the forward region

In this paper we present a comparative study between PYTHIA, EPOS, QGSJET, and SIBYLL generators. The global event observables considered are the charged energy flow, charged particle distributions, charged hadron production ratios and V^0 ratios. The study is performed in the LHCb and TOTEM fiducial phase spaces on minimum bias simulated data samples for pp collisions at = 7 TeV , using the reference measurements from these experiments. In the majority of cases, the measurements are within a band defined by the most extreme predictions. The observed differences between the predictions and the measurements seem to be, in most part, caused by extrapolation from the central pseudorapidity region (|η| 2.5), in which the generators were mainly tuned.

Preparation,characterization and catalytic behavior of Pt-Cu nanoparticles in methane combustion

Fine and well dispersed Pt-Cu bimetallic nanoparticles stabilized by polyvinyl pyrrolidone （PVP） were synthesized by alkaline polyol method. The molar ratio of Pt to Cu was 1 ： 1. Further, the Pt-Cu bimetallic nanoparticles were supported on alumina and their catalytic behavior in methane combustion was investigated. The as-prepared as well as the supported Pt-Cu nanoparticles were characterized by transmission elec- tron microscopy （TEM）, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy （XPS）, fractal analysis and X-ray diffraction （XRD）. The dependence of methane combustion on the morphology and surface composition of Pt-Cu nanoparticles was analyzed based on the experimental results.

Robot-assisted surgery for gastric cancer

Minimally invasive surgery for gastric cancer is a rela-tively new research field, with convincing results mostly stemming from Asian countries. The use of the robotic surgery platform, thus far assessed as a safe procedure, which is also easier to learn, sets the background for a wider spread of minimally invasive technique in the treatment of gastric cancer. This review will cover the literature published so far, analyzing the pros and cons of robotic surgery and highlighting the remaining study questions.

Solid solution or amorphous phase formation in TiZr-based ternary to quinternary multi-principal-element films

TiZr-based multicomponent metallic films composed of 3–5 constituents with almost equal atomic concentrations were prepared by cosputtering of pure metallic targets in an Ar atmosphere.X-ray diffraction was employed to determine phase composition,crystalline structure,lattice parameters,texture and crystallite size of the deposited *** deposited films exhibited only solid solution(fcc,bcc or hcp) or amorphous phases,no intermetallic components being *** was found that the hcp structure was stabilized by the presence of Hf or Y,bcc by Nb or Al and fcc by *** the investigated films,the atomic size difference,mixing enthalpy,mixing entropy,Gibbs free energy of mixing and the electronegativity difference for solid solution and amorphous phases were calculated based on Miedema's approach of the regular solution *** was shown that the atomic size difference and the ratio between the Gibbs free energies of mixing of the solid solution and amorphous phases were the most significant parameters controlling the film crystallinity.
