Yield losses of bread wheat due to crown rot can be more severe when drought conditions occur during the grain-filling *** architecture characteristics are important for soil exploration and belowground resource acquisition and are essential for adaptation to water-limited *** such as root angle,length and density have been strongly associated with acquisition efficiency and contribute to yield stability of the *** impact of crown rot pathogens on wheat root architecture is poorly *** examined differences in root angle,length and number,as well as dry root weight of the crown rot-susceptible bread wheat cultivar,Livingston inoculated with one of two crown rot pathogens Fusarium culmorum or Fusarium pseudograminearum in a transparent-sided root observation *** adverse impacts on plant health and growth were revealed by visual discolouration of the leaf sheaths;fresh and dry shoot weight;leaf area of the oldest and the youngest fully expanded leaf and leaf *** of most recorded root system measurements were reduced when inoculated with either *** or *** contrast,root angle was increased in the presence of *** but was not significantly changed by *** development of whiteheads and grain losses in bread wheat caused by crown rot have previously been associated with blockages of the vascular *** method employed here was able to identify differences in the pathogen impacts on roots,which were not detected using previous *** research indicates that in the presence of *** and *** infection,not only reductions in the size and biomass of the shoot system but also changes in the length,biomass and architecture of the root system could play an important role in yield loss.

Facial expression recognition(FER)has numerous applications in computer security,neuroscience,psychology,and *** to its non-intrusiveness,it is considered a useful technology for combating ***,FER is plagued with several challenges,the most serious of which is its poor prediction accuracy in severe head *** aim of this study,therefore,is to improve the recognition accuracy in severe head poses by proposing a robust 3D head-tracking algorithm based on an ellipsoidal model,advanced ensemble of AdaBoost,and saturated vector machine(SVM).The FER features are tracked from one frame to the next using the ellipsoidal tracking model,and the visible expressive facial key points are extracted using Gabor *** ensemble algorithm(Ada-AdaSVM)is then used for feature selection and *** proposed technique is evaluated using the Bosphorus,BU-3DFE,MMI,CK^(+),and BP4D-Spontaneous facial expression *** overall performance is outstanding.

In this paper, we reported the benefits of using eXtended Markup Language （XML） to support financial knowledge management and discussed number of issues associated with developing an XML-based financial knowledge management system. Current searching engines do not provide sufficient performance in terms of recall, precision, and extensibility for financial knowledge management, because the data represented in HTML format cannot support fmancial knowledge management effectively. On the other hand, XML provides a vendor-neutral approach to structure and organize contents as XML authors are allowed to create arbitrary tags to describe the format or structure of data. A prototype of XML-based ELectronic Financial Filing System （ELFFS-XML） is developed, and value-added ated informationservices such as automatic tag generation and cross-linking rel from different data sources are provided to enable knowledge representation and knowledge generation. We compared the XML-based ELFFS with the original HTML-based ELFFS and SEDAR - an electronic filing system used in Canada, and we found that ELFFS-XML is able to provide much more functionalities to support knowledge management. We also compared our automatic tag generation result with the experts＇ and investors＇ choices, and recommended some directions for future development of similar electronic filing systems.

Liver sinusoidal endothelial cells （LSECs） line the liver sinusoids and separate passenger leukocytes in the sinusoidal lumen from hepatocytes. LSECs further act as a platform for adhesion of various liver-resident immune cell populations such as Kupffer cells, innate lymphoid cells or liver dendritic cells. In addition to having an extraordinary scavenger function, LSECs possess potent immune functions, serving as sentinel cells to detect microbial infection through pattern recognition receptor activation and as antigen （cross）-presenting cells. LSECs cross-prime naive CD8 T cells, causing their rapid differentiation into memory T cells that relocate to secondary lymphoid tissues and provide protection when they re-encounter the antigen during microbial infection. Cross-presentation of viral antigens by LSECs derived from infected hepatocytes triggers local activation of effector CD8 T cells and thereby assures hepatic immune surveillance. The immune function of LSECs complements conventional immune-activating mechanisms to accommodate optimal immune surveillance against infectious microorganisms while preserving the integrity of the liver as a metabolic organ.

The left atrial appendage(LAA)is the most common site of left atrial thrombus with more than 90%of thrombi formed within this structure.[1]Transesophageal echocardiography(TEE)is the gold standard imaging technique for identifying LAA thrombus,with sensitivity and specificity both of 95%–100%.[1,2]An imaging modality that is used on most cardiac patients is the transthoracic echocardiogram(TTE).While quick and noninvasive,it is not known for its ability to detect left atrial appendage *** a thrombus on TTE is a great advantage as it allows for rapid initiation of anticoagulation and avoidance of cardioversion early in atrial fibrillation *** case demonstrates the rare occurrence of a patient who was found to be in atrial fibrillation in the setting of thyrotoxicosis who was subsequently discovered to have a left atrial appendage thrombus on TTE.

This commentary delves into the evolving landscape of cancer incidence and mortality in Costa Rica, presenting a comprehensive analysis of the data. Key findings reveal a concerning upward trajectory in cancer incidence rates, placing Costa Rica at the forefront within Central America. While prostate cancer and breast cancer dominate, disparities emerge when scrutinizing gender-specific trends. Notably, stomach and cervical cancers show declines, potentially attributed to targeted interventions. However, colorectal and liver cancers witness mortality increases, necessitating strategic responses. Geographical disparities persist across provinces, highlighting the need for equitable healthcare access. In conclusion, this commentary underscores the urgency of addressing the burgeoning cancer burden in Costa Rica, calling for evidence-based interventions and collaborative efforts on a global scale.

Perceptions, Preferences and Challenges of Adults towards Outdoor Recreation in Vhembe District： Capacitating the Local Initiatives

The study focused on different age groups people participating in outdoor recreation. The purpose of the study was to explore differences in individuals＇ perceptions, preferences and challenges among adults in Vhembe District Municipality. A secondary objective of the study was to examine age-group differences in outdoor recreation participation. A purposive sampling of 80 participants aged 18-60 years participated in the study. Both quantitative and qualitative research methods were applied. Structured interview and questionnaire were used as instruments for data collection. Chi-square was applied for data analysis. The proportion of responses obtained indicated that young singles were more socially-minded than adults in other lifecycle stages, with young singles and young couples more exposed in outdoors. The majority of participants were mainly from disadvantaged rural areas and were unemployed. The study revealed differences in the perceptions, preferences and challenges across age groups, with low participation in outdoor recreation.

Real-world emission factors for Caterpillar 797B heavy haulers during mining operations

Real-world fuel-based emission factors （EFs） from Caterpillar 797B diesel heavy haulers when used for oil sands mining operations were measured using an on-hoard portable emissions monitoring system. Average EFs （in g/kg fuel） for 16 separate tests on four trucks were 3150 ± 4 for CO2, 2.51 ± 1.30 for CH4, 10.28 ± 3.21 for CO, 0.61 ± 0.32 for non-methane hydrocarbons, 55.49 ± 9,75 for NOx （reported as NO2）, 0.70 ± 0.17 for PM2.s （mass of particles with aerodynamic diameter 〈2.5 μm）, and 0.34 ± 0.05 for black carbon （BC）. Ultrafine particle numbers averaged （4.7 ± 4.1 ） × 10^15 particleslkg fuel. Fuel-based EFs of NO, NO2, and particle numbers were higher during idling, whereas PM2.5 and BC EFs were higher during traveling without a load. A comparison of emissions with those reported by oil sands facilities showed large variations, both among the facilities and between the reported emissions and the real-world measurements.
