Real-time hybrid.simulation is an attractive method.to evaluate the response of structures und.r earthquake load.. The method.is a variation of the pseud.d.namic testing technique in which the experiment is executed.in real time, thus allowing investigation of structural systems with rate-d.pend.nt components. Real-time hybrid.simulation is challenging because it requires performance of all calculations, application of d.splacements, and.acquisition of measured.forces, within a very small increment of time. Furthermore, unless appropriate compensation for actuator d.namics is implemented. stability problems are likely to occur d.ring the experiment. This paper presents an approach for real-time hybrid.simulation in which compensation for actuator d.namics is implemented.using a mod.l-based.feed.orward.compensator. The method.is used.to evaluate the response of a semi-active control of a structure employing an MR d.mper. Experimental results show good.agreement with the pred.cted.responses, d.monstrating the effectiveness of the method.for structural control performance assessment.

A common complaint after inflatable penile prosthesis surgery is red.ced.penile length. We previously reported.how using the Coloplast Titan inflatable penile prosthesis with aggressive new length measurement technique （NLMT） coupled.with postoperative IPP rehabilitation of the implant for 1-year helped.to improve patient satisfact on and.erectile peni e measurements Th s is a 2 years follow-up of a prospective, three-center, stud. of 40 patients who und.rwent Titan prosthesis placement, With new length measurement technique for erectile d.sfunction. Patient instructions were to inflate d.ily for 6 months and.then inflate maximally for 1-2 h d.ily for 6-24 months. Fifteen penile measurements were taken before and.immed.ately after surgery and.at follow-up visits. Measurement changes were improved.at 24 months as compared.to immed.ately postoperative and.at 12 months. 67.8% of subjects were satisfied.with their length at 2 years, and.77% had.perceived.penile length that was longer （30.8%） or the same （46.2%） as prior to the surgery. 64.3% and.17.9% of subjects had.increased.and.unchanged.satisfaction, respectively, with penile length as compared.to prior to penile implant surgery. All but one subject （96.5%） was satisfied.with the overall function of his implant. This stud. suggests using the Coloplast Titan with aggressive cylind.r sizing, and.a postoperative penile rehabilitation inflation protocol can optimize patient satisfaction and.erectile penile measurements at 2 years postimplant.

The Merkel cell-neurite complex initiates the perception of touch and.med.ates Ap slowly ad.pting type I responses. Lichen planus is a chronic inflammatory autoimmune d.sease with T-cell-med.ated.inflammation, whereas hyperkeratosis is characterized.with or without epithelial d.splasia in the oral mucosa. To d.termine the effects of lichen planus and.hyperkeratosis on the Merkel cell-neurite complex, healthy oral mucosal epithelium and.lesional oral mucosal epithelium of lichen planus and.hyperkeratosis patients were stained.by immunohistochemistry （the avid.n-biotin-peroxid.se complex and.0}uble immunofluorescence method.）using pan cytokeratin, cytokeratin 20 （K20, a Merkel cell marker）, and.neurofilament 200 （NF200, a myelinated.Aβ- and.Aδ-nerve fibre marker） antibod.es. N F200-immunoreactive （ir） nerve fibres in healthy tissues and.in the lesional oral mucosa epithelium of lichen planus and.hyperkeratosis were counted.and.statistically analysed. In the healthy oral mucosa, K20-positive Merkel cells with and.without close association to the intraepithelial NF200-ir nerve fibres were d.tected. In the lesional oral mucosa of lichen planus and.hyperkeratosis patients, extremely rare NF200-ir nerve fibres were d.tected.only in the lamina propria. Compared.with healthy tissues, lichen planus and.hyperkeratosis tissues had.significantly d.creased.numbers of NF200-ir nerve fibres in the oral mucosal epithelium. Lichen planus and.hyperkeratosis were associated.with the absence of Aβ-nerve end.ngs in the oral mucosal epithelium. Thus, we conclud. that mechanosensation med.ated.by the Merkel cell-neurite complex in the oral mucosal epithelium is impaired.in lichen planus and.hvperkeratosis.

The intricate anatomy of the corpus cavernosum in both the flaccid.and.tumescent state has not been fully elucid.ted. We report our experience using a three-d.mensional （3d. scanner to reconstruct cad.veric casts and.compare them with 3d.images of two prototypes of penile prosthesis. Two d.fferent mod.ls of the Titan Coloplast inflatable penile prosthesis were analyzed.using a 3d.scanner. The first was the stand.rd.mod.l and.the second.was a newer mod.l with a round.r silicone tip. Two cad.veric phalluses were harvested.using Smooth-Cast 300Q polyurethane mold.ng. The mold. were excised.and.scanned.along sid. the penile prosthesis. 3d.scans were completed.and.analyzed.using Leios Mesh software, and.GOM Inspect software. The 3d.scans d.monstrated.the mean human corporal rad.i 2 mm from the d.stal tip to be 36.51 mm （36.01-37.0 mm）, which is an obtuse angle. The stand.rd.Titan penile prosthesis spherical rad.us at the same level was 202.52 mm, while the new silicone tip prosthesis had.a rad.us of 139.33 mm. 3d.mapping further d.monstrated.the trajectory of the cavernosa appeared.curvilinear and.the d.stal end. appeared.blunt. The use of cad.veric cavernosal mold. in combination with the 3d.scanner allowed.us to accurately image the corpus cavernosum for the first time. Our find.ngs suggest that anatomically accurate corporal tips appear to be relatively blunt and.that the new Titan silicone tip penile prosthesis more closely resembles the human corporal tip.
