BACKgROUND Epithelial-myoepithelial carcinoma (EMC) is a rare, low-grade, malignant tumor that constitutes less than one percent of all salivary gland tumors. To date, only one other case report has described radiation-associated EMC in the English language medical *** SUMMARY In this report, we describe the case of a 56-year-old male patient who presented with a neck mass diagnosed as EMC of the left submandibular gland approximately 30 years after mantle field radiation and chemotherapy for Hodgkin lymphoma. Treatment included resection, re-resection with nodal dissection, and adjuvant chemoradiotherapy. This patient was also diagnosed with 4 other secondary malignancies, including stage IV diffuse large B cell lymphoma in the abdomen with subsequent brain metastases, low-grade neuroendocrine carcinoma of the lung, Hurthle cell adenoma, and small B cell lymphoma before the patient expired. This case provides important information regarding the pathology, clinical sequelae, and management of a patient diagnosed with radiation-associated EMC amidst four concurrent *** Further investigation is needed on the efficacy of adjuvant radiotherapy in EMC,especially atypical EMC.

We show that when A is a separable C*-algebra,every countably generated Hilbert A-module is projective（with bounded module maps as morphisms）.We also study the approximate extensions of bounded module *** the case where A is a σ-unital simple C*-algebra with strict comparison,and every strictly positive lower semicontinuous affine function on quasitraces can be realized as the rank of an element in the Cuntz semigroup,we show that the Cuntz semigroup is equivalent to unitarily equivalent classes of countably generated Hilbert A-modules if and only if A has stable rank one.

The intrinsic surface reaction constants, pKa1^int, pKa2^int, p^＊KC^int and p^＊KA^int , were evaluated by a modifieddouble extrapolation （MDE） for TiO2 without structural charge and Mg-Fe hydrotalcite-like compounds （HTlc） with structural charge, respectively. The results of intrinsic surface reaction constants for TiO2 were compared with those obtained by class double extrapolation （CDE） in literature. Furthermore, the values of intrinsic surface reaction constants obtained by MDE were used to simulate the charging behaviors of the materials. The following conclusions were obtained. For TiO2 without structural charge, the pKa1^int and pKa2^int evaluated by MDE are equal to those by CDE, however the p^＊KC^int and p^＊KA^int evaluated by MDE are much different from those by CDE. In principle, the results of the p^＊KC^int and p^＊KA^int evaluated by MDE are more accurate than those by CDE. The values of intrinsic surface reaction constants obtained by MDE can excellently simulate the charging curves for TiO2 with the triple layer model （TLM）. For HTlc with positive structural charge, the results of ^＊KC^int=0 and ^＊KA^int →∞ were obtained by MDE, which means the inert electrolyte chemical binding does not exist; the point of zero net charge （PZNC） of c-independence also exist as the same as solid without structural charge, and the PHPZNC obtained by the acid-base titration can excellently be simulated and the surface charging tendency can be simulated to a great extent using the pKa1^int and pKa2^int evaluated by MDE and the diffuse layer model （DLM）.

Even mildly hypothermic body or limb temperatures can retard healing processes in *** this,we observed that hibernating American black bears(Ursus americanus Pallas,1780)elicit profound abilities in mounting inflammatory responses to infection and/or foreign *** addition,they resolve injuries during hibernation while maintaining mildly hypothermic states(30–35°C)and without eating,drinking,urinating or *** describe experimental studies on free-ranging bears that document their abilities to completely resolve cutaneous cuts and punctures incurred during or prior to *** induced small,full-thickness cutaneous wounds(biopsies or incisions)during early denning,and re-biopsied sites 2–3 months later(near the end of denning).Routine histological methods were used to characterize these skin *** biopsied sites with respect to secondary intention(open circular biopsies)and primary intention(sutured sites)healed,with evidence of initial eschar(scab)formation,completeness of healed epidermis and dermal layers,dyskeratosis(inclusion cysts),and abilities to produce hair *** healing abilities of hibernating black bears are a clear survival advantage to animals injured before or during *** are known to have elevated levels of hibernation induction trigger(delta-opioid receptor agonist)and ursodeoxycholic acid(major bile acid within plasma,mostly conjugated with taurine)during hibernation,which may relate to these wound-healing *** research as to the underlying mechanisms of wound healing during hibernation could have applications in human *** approaches may be found to improve healing for malnourished,hypothermic,diabetic and elderly patients or to reduce scarring associated with burns and traumatic injuries.
