Carbon isotope compositions of both sedimentary carbonate and organic matter can be used as key proxies of the global carbon cycle and of its evolution through time,as long as they are acquired from waters where the dissolved inorganic carbon(DIC)is in isotope equilibrium with the atmospheric ***,in shallow water platforms and epeiric settings,the influence of local to regional parameters on carbon cycling may lead to DIG isotope variations unrelated to the global carbon *** may be especially true for the terminal Neoproterozoic,when Gondwana assembly isolated waters masses from the global ocean,and extreme positive and negative carbon isotope excursions are recorded,potentially decoupled from global *** improve our understanding on the type of information recorded by these excursions,we investigate the pairedδ^13Ccarb andδ^13Corg evolution for an increasingly restricted late Ediacaran-Cambrian foreland system in the West Gondwana interior:the basal Bambui *** succession represents a 1~(st)-order sedimentary sequence and records two majorδ^13Ccarb excursions in its two lowermost lower-rank *** basal cap carbonate interval at the base of the first sequence,deposited when the basin was connected to the ocean,hosts antithetical negative and positive excursions forδ^13Ccarb andδ^13Corg,respectively,resulting inΔ^13C values lower than 25‰.from the top of the basal sequence upwards,an extremely positiveδ^13Ccarb excursion is coupled toδ^13Corg,reaching values of+14‰and-14‰,*** positive excursion represents a remarkable basin-wide carbon isotope feature of the Bambui Group that occurs with only minor changes inΔ^13C values,suggesting change in the DIC isotope *** argue that this regional isotopic excursion is related to a disconnection between the intrabasinal and the global carbon *** extreme carbon isotope excursion may have been a product of a disequilibria between the basin DIC and atmospheric CO2

Tan spot(TS) and Septoria nodorum blotch(SNB), caused by Pyrenophora tritici-repentis and Parastagonospora nodorum, respectively, are important fungal leaf-spotting diseases of wheat that cause significant losses in grain yield. In this study, two recombinant inbred line populations, ‘Bartai’ × ‘Ciano T79’(referred to as B × C) and ‘Cascabel’ × ‘Ciano T79’(C × C) were tested for TS and SNB response in order to determine the genetic basis of seedling resistance. Genotyping was performed with the DAr Tseq genotypingby-sequencing(GBS) platform. A chromosome region on 5 AL conferred resistance to TS and SNB in both populations, but the effects were larger in B × C(R^2= 11.2%–16.8%) than in C × C(R^2= 2.5%–9.7%). Additionally, the chromosome region on 5BL(presumably Tsn1)was significant for both TS and SNB in B × C but not in C × C. Quantitative trait loci(QTL)with minor effects were identified on chromosomes 1B, 2A, 2B, 3A, 3B, 4D, 5A, 5B, 5D, 6B,and 6D. The two CIMMYT breeding lines ‘Bartai’ and ‘Cascabel’ contributed resistance alleles at both 5AL and 5BL QTL mentioned above. The QTL on 5AL showed linkage with the Vrn-A1 locus, whereas the vrn-A1 allele conferring lateness was associated with resistance to TS and SNB.

Liver transplant(LT) is the primary treatment for patients with end-stage liver disease. About 25000 LTs are performed annually in the world. The potential for intraoperative bleeding is quite variable. However, massive bleeding is common and requires blood transfusion. Allogeneic blood transfusion has an immunosuppressive effect and an impact on recipient survival, in addition to the risk of transmission of viral infections and transfusion errors, among *** to prevent excessive bleeding or to use autologous blood have been proposed to minimize the negative effects of allogeneic blood *** reinfusion of autologous blood is possible through previous selfdonation or blood collected during the operation. However, LT does not normally allow autologous transfusion by prior self-donation. Hence, using autologous blood collected intraoperatively is the most feasible option. The use of intraoperative blood salvage autotransfusion(IBSA) minimizes the perioperative use of allogeneic blood, preventing negative transfusion effects without negatively impacting other clinical outcomes. The use of IBSA in patients with cancer is still a matter of debate due to the theoretical risk of reinfusion of tumor cells. However, studies have demonstrated the safety of IBSA in several surgical procedures, including LT for hepatocellular carcinoma. Considering the literature available to date, we can state that IBSA should be routinely used in LT, both in patients with cancer and in patients with benign diseases.

Enhancing Cybersecurity through Cloud Computing Solutions in the United States

This study investigates how cybersecurity can be enhanced through cloud computing solutions in the United States. The motive for this study is due to the rampant loss of data, breaches, and unauthorized access of internet criminals in the United States. The study adopted a survey research design, collecting data from 890 cloud professionals with relevant knowledge of cybersecurity and cloud computing. A machine learning approach was adopted, specifically a random forest classifier, an ensemble, and a decision tree model. Out of the features in the data, ten important features were selected using random forest feature importance, which helps to achieve the objective of the study. The study’s purpose is to enable organizations to develop suitable techniques to prevent cybercrime using random forest predictions as they relate to cloud services in the United States. The effectiveness of the models used is evaluated by utilizing validation matrices that include recall values, accuracy, and precision, in addition to f1 scores and confusion matrices. Based on evaluation scores (accuracy, precision, recall, and f1 scores) of 81.9%, 82.6%, and 82.1%, the results demonstrated the effectiveness of the random forest model. It showed the importance of machine learning algorithms in preventing cybercrime and boosting security in the cloud environment. It recommends that other machine learning models be adopted to see how to improve cybersecurity through cloud computing.

In this study, the ambient seismic noise cross-correlation technique is applied to estimate the upper structure of the crust beneath Great Island of Tierra del fuego（Tdf）, Argentina, by the analysis of shortperiod Rayleigh wave group velocities. The island, situated in the southernmost South America, is a key area of investigation among the interaction between the South American and Scotia plates and is considered as a very seismically active one. Through cross-correlating the vertical components of ambient seismic noise registered at four broadband stations in Tdf, we were able to extract Rayleigh waves which were used to estimate group velocities in the period band of 2.5-16 s using a timefrequency analysis. Although ambient noise sources are distributed in homogeneously, robust empirical Green＇s functions could be recovered from the cross-correlation of 12 months of ambient noise, The observed group velocities were inverted considering a non-linear iterative damped least-squares inversion procedure and several 1-D shear wave velocity models of the upper crust were *** to the inversion results, the S-wave velocity ranges between 1.75 and 3,7 km/s in the first10 km of crust, depending on the pair of stations considered. These results are in agreement to the major known surface and sub-surface geological and tectonic features known in the area. This study represents the first ambient seismic noise analysis in Tdf in order to constraint the upper crust beneath this *** can also be considered as a successful feasibility study for future analyses with a denser station deployment for a more detailed imaging of structure.

fisher-Tippet-Gnedenko classical theory shows that the normalized maximum of n iid random variables with distribution f belonging to a very wide class of functions, converges in law to an extremal distribution H, that is determined by the tail of f. Extensions of this theory from the iid case to stationary and weak dependent sequences are well known from the work of Leadbetter, Lindgreen and Rootzén. In this paper, we present a very simple class of random processes that runs from iid sequences to non-stationary and strongly dependent processes, and we study the asymptotic behavior of its normalized maximum. More interesting, we show that when the process is strongly dependent, the asymptotic distribution is no longer an extremal one, but a mixture of extremal distributions. We present very simple theoretical and simulated examples of this result. This provides a simple framework to asymptotic approximations of extremes values not covered by classical extremal theory and its well-known extensions.

Peptides have an important role in organism and its high quantity present in tumors leading to development of radiolabeled peptides for tumor-specific imaging. Once the traditional methodologies used for radiofluorination do not work with peptides, due to their harsh conditions, other radiolabeling strategies had to be developed to supply the need. Direct radiofluorination is either an inefficient method, and the use of bidirectional groups, or prosthetic groups, is needed to enable the binding between the radionuclide fluorine-18 and a peptide functionalized. New peptides radiolabeling strategies have been developed sourcing increase the synthesis yield, its chemoselectivity, and the binding stability, and reduce the total process time and the number of steps required. The progress of radiofluorination methodologies led to development of the amidation, acylation, imidation, and alkylation techniques, the use of thiol groups, photochemical conjugation, chemoselective reactions, and “click chemistry”, in addition to use of fDG molecule and heteroatoms as linkers. This paper presents the main strategies used for peptides radiofluorination, presenting their positive and negative points, and the prosthetic groups most used in each method.
