Diagnosis and treatment of pancreas divisum: A literature review

Background:Pancreas divisum is a congenital embryological disease caused by a lack of fusion between the ventral and dorsal pancreatic ducts in the early stages of *** acute pancreatitis,chronic pancreatitis or chronic abdominal pain are the main clinical syndromes at presentation and occur in only 5%of the patients with pancreas *** review aimed to discuss diagnosis and treatment strategies in patients with symptomatic pancreas *** sources:We report a literature review from 1990 up to January 2018 to explore the various diagnostic modalities and surgical techniques and results reported in the surgical treatment of pancreas ***:There are limited reports available on this topic in the *** analyzed and described the main indications in the treatment of pancreas divisum,focusing on surgical treatment and a discussion of the different ***,we report the results from our experience in two cases of pancreas divisum treated by pancreatic head resection with segmental duodenectomy(the Nakao procedure).Conclusions:Pancreas divisum is a common pancreatic malformation in which only a few patients develop a symptomatic *** treatment is needed in case of endoscopic drainage failure and in cases complicated with chronic pancreatitis and local *** techniques,of greater or lesser complexity,have been proposed.

We review some recent progress in our understanding of the lowest-lying spin-1/2 and spin-3/2 baryon magnetic moments （MMs） in terms of Chiral Perturbation Theory （ChPT）.In particular,we show that at next-to-leading-order ChPT can describe the MMs of the octet baryons quite *** also make predictions for the decuplet MMs at the same chiral *** them,the MMs of the Δ＋＋ and Δ ＋ are found to agree well with data within the experimental uncertainties.

The objective of this research was to evaluate the effect of administering VIUSID vet powder on the productive behaviour of sows and the quality of semen of boars. Two experiments were conducted on farms in the province of Sancti Spiritus, in the central region of Cuba. One was with sows, starting 21 days before parturition until weaning, and another was with boars in directed mounting. Each sow received 10 grams of VIUSID vet powder everyday, mixed with food, from 21 days before the probable date of farrowing and until weaning （33-day lactation period）. In the boars, the treatment consisted of administering 10 grams of VIUSID vet powder with feed, once a day for 6 weeks （week 1 to 6）; from week 7 onwards, the supplement was suspended. Results showed that, supplying VIUSID vet powder significantly improved the principal post-partum productivity indicators and significantly reduced diarrhoea and administration to boars in production for 6 weeks, which has improved spermatic motility and does not affect the other variables representative of the quality of the semen.

Purpose:Building upon pioneering work by Francis Narin and others,a new methodological approach to assessing the technological impact of scientific research is ***/methodology/approach:It is based on the analysis of citations made in patent families included in the PATSTAT database that is to scientific papers indexed in ***:An advanced citation matching procedure is applied to the data in order to construct two indicators of technological impact:on the citing(patent)side,the country/region in which protection is sought and a patent family’s propensity to cite scientific papers are taken into account,and on the cited(paper)side,a relative citation rate is defined for patent citations to papers that is similar to the scientific paper-to-paper citation rate in classical *** limitations:The results are limited by the available data,in our case Scopus and PATSTAT,and especially by the lack of standardization of references in *** required a matching procedure that is neither trivial nor *** implications:Results at the country/region,document type,and publication age levels are *** country/region-level results in particular reveal features that have remained hidden in analyses of straight *** notable is that the rankings of some Asian countries/regions move upwards when the proposed normalized indicator of technological impact is applied as against the case with straight counts of patent citations to those countries/regions’published ***/value:In our opinion,the level of sophistication of the indicators proposed in the current paper is unparalleled in the scientific literature,and provides a solid basis for the assessment of the technological impact of scientific research in countries/regions and institutions.

During migration, birds can show different responses to wind in relation to distance to the goal, experience, ecologi- cal barriers and visibility of landmarks. We analysed the effect of wind （tailwinds and crosswinds） on daily movement rates （for- ward and perpendicular） of Eleonora＇s falcons using ARGOS satellite telemetry, during their trans-continental autumn migration to Madagascar, in relation to the different crossed regions and individuals＇ age class. Our results showed that the effect of wind on daily movement rates was not uniform, being stronger in the farthest region from the migration goal, the Sahara desert, with adults being more affected than juveniles in this region. In the Sahel, the results were more conflicting, perhaps because daily movements were more shaped by the distribution of food resources. In Equatorial Africa, daily movement rates were mainly af- fected by crosswinds. Still, it remains unclear which orientation mechanism allows Eleonora＇s falcons to reach such a narrow wintering area compensating also for wind displacement

Studies on habitat use have often helped explain observed variation in morphology,behavior and reproductive characteristics among populations within a single *** we analyze morphological and ecological characteristics of individuals from the Sceloporus grammicus species complex from 7 different localities(CER,El Cerezo;PAC,Pachuca;HUI,Huichapan;EZA,Emiliano Zapata;SMR,San Miguel Regla;LMJ,La Mojonera;and LMZ,La Manzana)in the state of Hidalgo,and one locality(Cahuacán)in the State of Mexico.A canonical correspondence analysis(CCA)showed that females from PAC,EZA,LMZ,HUI,SMR and CAH populations use similar microhabitats characterized mostly by bare soil,in females from LMJ and CER use microhabitats characterized primarily by vegetation and *** were observed using 12 different types of *** regard to perch height use,the CCA showed that females from PAC,LMJ,LMZ,SMR,CER and CAH populations were correlated with height to nearest perch(HNP),in the rest of the females were not related to any perch use *** contrast,the CCA showed that males from PAC,LMJ and CAH were characterized by microhabitats with higher vegetal coverage,while males from LMZ and CER used microhabitats composed of bare soil,but males from HUI and SMR populations used microhabitats composed chiefly of bare soil and *** respect to perch height use,the CCA showed that males from PAC,LMJ,EZA and LMZ were correlated with distance to the nearest perch,but the rest of the males were not correlated with any perch use *** were observed in 9 different perch *** males were larger than the females in all morphological variables ***,in both sexes the snout-vent length is positively correlated with all morphological variables,and although both the slope and ordinate of the origin of all morphological variables were larger in males than females,the analysis of covariance indicated that there is no increase in the morphological variables with inc

This study uses the Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) to evaluate the magnitude of the environmental impact, in terms of global warming potential, and water footprint throughout the 20 years of useful life of a rural electrical energy concession comprised of 120Wp Households photovoltaic systems (HPS) in the isolated communities of San Martin, in the Peruvian Amazon region. On the other hand, due to the particular conditions of the system (installation, operation, maintenance, monthly tariff collection), it is necessary to know its real impact and sustainability;not only through the aforementioned environmental impact indicators, but also by energy intensity values required by the system throughout its life cycle. Therefore, this paper used the Cumulative energy demand (CED) method to determine the amount of energy taken from natural resources for each process involved in the LCA and calculated with this, i.e., the Energy Payback Time (EPBT) of the whole system. Likewise, the HPS has been environmentally compared to other case studies and the Peruvian Energy Mix, revealing a lower impact in the latter case and results within the range for stand-alone systems. Besides, the HPS shows a strong relation between energy production and O&M condition. Additionally, this study allows a further promotion of the use of this type of system in isolated areas, as well as the diversification of electricity generation in Peru.

One of the missing pieces preventing us from understanding recent Chinese economic development is the role played by openness and capital accumulation in this process. The question is whether the sharp economic＇ growth that the Chinese economy has experienced is another case of export-led growth due to the open-door policy or whether, on the contrary, this growth has been caused by high domestic savings and investment rates （and the consequent capital accumulation）. To answer this question, we employed an empirical framework of the cointegrated vector autoregressive model. The empirical results show that both investment （in physieal capital and R＆D） and exports, as well as the exchange rate policy, are relevant factors in explaining China＇s long-run economic growth over the past 4 decades.

Aim:The purpose of this study was to conduct a systematic review of the published literature to assess the state of the art of this *** node biopsy(SNB)in oral squamous cell cancer(OSCC)is a novel and proven useful technique alternative to the neck dissection(ND)in the management of ***:The authors searched PubMed for literature in English published for the last five years,addressing this *** studies articles were selected with at least thirty patients ***:Of 235 studies found,14 studies met the exclusion and inclusion criteria for this *** studies selected focused on the role of the SNB in the OSCC,advantages compared to ND and its limitations,testing different solutions and innovations that could implement the conventional ***-analysis studies and review articles were also selected in order to perform the introduction and support the *** upon these findings authors have tried to establish the state of the art of the SNB and authors have highlighted recent advances that improve the sentinel lymphatic node biopsy technique in the ***:SNB is an excellent staging method in OSCC and an interesting alternative to *** authors show the most appropriate procedures recommended in the bibliography revised in a trend to depict the actual state of the art.
