Background:Patients with genetic syndromes who undergo surgery to correct congenital heart defects can be at risk for increased morbidity or *** outcomes and postoperative courses following congenital heart surgery in patients with Kabuki-Syndrome(KS)have not been well ***:The purpose of this study was to describe the postoperative courses and associated outcomes in the largest set of KS patients undergoing congenital heart surgery to ***:Patients with a confirmed molecular diagnosis of KS and a diagnosis of a CHD admitted to Texas Children’s Hospital between January 1,2000 and January 1,2020 were included(n=20).Demographics and medical histories were collected from the hospitals’electronic health ***:Of 20 patients identified with KS and a CHD,15 required surgical correction of their congenital cardiac *** age and weight at the time of surgery was 2 months and 4.1 kg,*** duration of hospital stay was 49 days for all surgeries and 151 days for the Norwood *** infections and pleural effusions were detected and treated in 45.8%and 50%of patients,*** was no in-hospital mortality for any *** follow up time was 5.6 years;survival at 6 years was 94%.Conclusions:Although KS patients seem to be at increased risk for a more complicated,prolonged postoperative course than that of patients without a genetic syndrome,patients with a diagnosis of a CHD and KS do not appear to be at increased risk of mortality following congenital heart surgery.

Identifying the genetic mechanisms that underpin the evolution of new organ and tissue systems is an aim of evolutionary developmental biology. Comparative functional genetic studies between angiosperms and bryophytes can define those genetic changes that were responsible for developmental innovations. Here, we report the generation of a transcriptome atlas covering most phases in the life cycle of the model bryo- phyte Physcomitrella patens, including detailed sporophyte developmental progression. We identified a comprehensive set of sporophyte-specific transcription factors, and found that many of these genes have homologs in angiosperms that function in developmental processes such as flowering and shoot branching. Deletion of the PpTCP5 transcription factor results in development of supernumerary sporangia attached to a single seta, suggesting that it negatively regulates branching in the moss sporophyte. Given that TCP genes repress branching in angiosperms, we suggest that this activity is ancient. Finally, compar- ison of P. patens and Arabidopsis thaliana transcriptomes led us to the identification of a conserved core of transcription factors expressed in tip-growing cells. We identified modifications in the expression patterns of these genes that could account for developmental differences between P. patens tip-growing cells and A. thaliana pollen tubes and root hairs.

In this work, we consider a homotopic principle for solving large-scale and dense l1underdetermined problems and its applications in image processing and classification. We solve the face recognition problem where the input image contains corrupted and/or lost pixels. The approach involves two steps: first, the incomplete or corrupted image is subject to an inpainting process, and secondly, the restored image is used to carry out the classification or recognition task. Addressing these two steps involves solving large scale l1minimization problems. To that end, we propose to solve a sequence of linear equality constrained multiquadric problems that depends on a regularization parameter that converges to zero. The procedure generates a central path that converges to a point on the solution set of the l1underdetermined problem. In order to solve each subproblem, a conjugate gradient algorithm is formulated. When noise is present in the model, inexact directions are taken so that an approximate solution is computed faster. This prevents the ill conditioning produced when the conjugate gradient is required to iterate until a zero residual is attained.

Unsupervised neural networks such as the Kohonen Self-Organizing Maps （SOM） have been widely used for searching natural clusters in multidimensional and massive data. One example where the data available for analysis can be extremely large is seismic interpretation for hydrocarbon exploration. In order to assist the interpreter in identifying characteristics of interest confined in the seismic data, the authors present a set of data attributes that can be used to train a SOM in such a way that zones of interest can be automatically identified or segmented, reducing time in the interpretation process. The authors show how to associate SOM to 2D color maps to visually identify the clustering structure of the input seismic data, and apply the proposed technique to a 2D synthetic seismic dataset of salt structures.

Background:Giardia intestinalis is one of the most common causes of diarrhoea worldwide. Molecular techniques have greatly improved our understanding of the taxonomy and epidemiology of this parasite. Co-infection with mixed (sub-) assemblages has been reported, however, Sanger sequencing is sometimes unable to identify shared subtypes between samples involved in the same epidemiologically linked event, due to samples showing multiple dominant subtypes within the same outbreak. Here, we aimed to use a metabarcoding approach to uncover the genetic diversity within samples from sporadic and outbreak cases of giardiasis to characterise the subtype diversity, and determine if there are common sequences shared by epidemiologically linked cases that are missed by Sanger ***:We built a database with 1109 unique glutamate dehydrogenase (gdh) locus sequences covering most of the assemblages of G. intestinalis and used gdh metabarcoding to analyse 16 samples from sporadic and outbreak cases of giardiasis that occurred in New Zealand between 2010 and ***:There is considerable diversity of subtypes of G. intestinalis present in each sample. The utilisation of metabarcoding enabled the identification of shared subtypes between samples from the same outbreak. Multiple variants were identified in 13 of 16 samples, with Assemblage B variants most common, and Assemblages E and A present in mixed ***:This study showed that G. intestinalis infections in humans are frequently mixed, with multiple subtypes present in each host. Shared sequences among epidemiologically linked cases not identified through Sanger sequencing were detected. Considering the variation in symptoms observed in cases of giardiasis, and the potential link between symptoms and (sub-) assemblages, the frequency of mixed infections could have implications for our understanding of host–pathogen interactions.

This present study was conducted to evaluate the metabolic effects of isolated fi ber of carrot supplementation in *** properties of fi ber were *** groups were as follows:animals fed a standard diet,control group;high fi ber supplementation(70 mg);low fi ber supplementation(35 mg);for 12 *** samples were collected at the time of sacrifi *** weights of heart,liver,kidneys and spleen of the experimental rats with respect to body weight were *** kits were used to determine serum glucose concentration,lipid profi le(cholesterol,HDL-cholesterol,triglycerides),and the two main aminotransferases glutamic-oxalacetic transaminase(GOT)/glutamate-pyruvate transaminase(GPT).A histopathological assay was performed on the heart,liver,and spleen tissues of *** with fi ber favors weight loss in female((242.03±23.73)-(197.81±10.45)g);and male rats((262.50±32.21)-(213.96±12.56)g and induces a decrease in glucose levels in the supplemented *** the exception of total high-density lipoprotein cholesterol,the other lipid fractions decrease signifi cantly in rats *** supplementation did not induce changes in the dissected organs of the supplemented *** conclusion supplementation of fiber,improves glucose control,lower plasma lipid concentrations and reduced body weight in normal rats.

Traditionally,food sustainability has been considered solely in the stage of agricultural ***,globalization,the expansion of the food production industry,and the emergence of supermarket chains that control the retail food market require specific significant changes in supply chains in the food sector and,therefore,we need to address the economic,social,and environmental impacts of these *** the other hand,social selling has increased rapidly in recent years,with a further boom,following current events related to the coronavirus disease(COVID-19).This explosion of social sales,where there are usually no control and regulation entities,can bring problems associated with mishandling *** this paper,we expose how Blockchain technology supports the traceability of social sales by validating the data provided by the chain participants such as digital health passports,production and transport data in the sale process;the proposed solution generates recommendations on productmanagement considering the agreements previously made by the network *** evaluate the proposed smart contracts,we useHyperledger Caliper,obtaining an average throughput of 12.6 transactions per second and an average latency of 0.3 s for the asset update *** also use a study case to evaluate the proposed project platform’s selling-transport stage using Internet of Things(IoT)sensors.
