Typhoon-and pollution-driven enhancement of reactive bromine in the mid-latitude marine boundary layer

Tropospheric reactive bromine is important for atmospheric chemistry,regional air pollution,and global *** studies have reported measurements of atmospheric reactive bromine species in different environments,and proposed their main sources,***-salt aerosol（SSA）,oceanic biogenic activity,polar snow/ice,and *** and other strong cyclonic activities（***） induce abrupt changes in different earth system processes,causing widespread destructive ***,the role of typhoons in regulating reactive bromine abundance and sources remains ***,we report field observations of bromine oxide（Bro）,a critical indicator of reactive bromine,on the Huaniao Island（HnI）in the East China Sea in July *** observed high levels of Bro below 500 m with a daytime average of9.7±4.2 pptv and a peak value of ～26 pptv under the influence of a *** field measurements,supported by model simulations,suggest that the typhoon-induced drastic increase in wind speed amplifies the emission of SSA,significantly enhancing the activation of reactive bromine from SSA *** also detected enhanced Bro mixing ratios under high noxconditions（ppbv level） suggesting a potential pollution-induced mechanism of bromine release from *** elevated levels of atmospheric bromine noticeably increase ozone destruction by as much as ～40% across the East China *** the high frequency of cyclonic activity in the northern hemisphere,reactive bromine chemistry is expected to play a more important role than previously thought in affecting coastal air quality and atmospheric oxidation *** suggest that models need to consider the hitherto overlooked typhoon-and pollution-mediated increase in reactive bromine levels when assessing the synergic effects of cyclonic activities on the earth system.

Deep phenotyping and genetic characterization of individuals are fundamental to assessing the metabolic status and determining nutrition-specific requirements. This study aimed to ascertain the utmost effectiveness of personalized interventions by aligning dietary adjustments with both the genotype and metabolotype of individuals. Therefore， we assessed here the usefulness of a polygenic score (PGS) characterizing a potential pro-inflammatory profile (PGSi) as a nutrigenetic tool to discern individuals from the Danish PREVEnTomICS cohort that could better respond to precision nutrition (Pn) plans， specifically targeted at counteracting the low-grade inflammatory profile typically found in obesity. The cohort followed a Pn plan to counteract the pro-inflammatory profile (Pni group) or generic dietary recommendations (Control) for 10 weeks. PGSi was applied for genetic stratification (Low/High). The effects of the intervention on anthropometrics and biomarkers related to inflammatory profile and carbohydrate metabolism were assessed. Around 30% of subjects had a high genetic predisposition to pro-inflammatory status (high-PGSi). These individuals demonstrated the most effective response to the dietary plan， experiencing improved body composition， with significant decreases in body weight (△: -4.84%; p=0.039) and body fat (△: -4.86%; p=0.007)， and beneficial changes in pro- and anti-inflammatory biomarkers， with significant increases in IL-10 (△: 71.3%; p=0.025) and decreases in TnF-α (△: -3.0%; p=0.048)， CRP (△: -31.1%)， ICAm1 (△: -5.8%)， and mCP1 (△: -4.2%) circulating levels， compared to low-PGSi individuals. Both phenotypic and genetic stratification contributed to a better understanding of metabolic heterogeneity in response to diet. This approach allows for refinement of the prediction of individual requirements and potentially for better management of obesity.

Using two new well-defined four-dimensional potential vectors, we formulate the classical maxwell field theory in a form which has manifest Lorentz covariance and So(2) duality symmetry in the presence of magnetic sources. We set up a consistent Lagrangian for the theory. Then from the action principle we obtain both maxwell's equation and the equation of motion of a dyon moving in the electromagnetic field.

Selection and Analysis of Polymorphisms in Somaclonal Variants of Agave americana Resistant to Fusarium oxysporum via an Ethyl methanesulphonate Treatment

Agave americana *** were exposed to different concentrations of ethyl methanesulphonate(EmS)0,15,30,45 and 60 mm and to different times of exposure(2 and 4 h).The viability and capacity of shoot formation were shown to be affected when the callus were exposed to high concentrations(30–60 mm).only the callus exposed to 15 mm EmS presented shoot formation;the exposure time of two hours produced the largest quantity of shoots regenerated per callus(21 shoots/callus).In order to generate somaclonal variants resistant to Fusarium oxysporum,a selection pressure was applied through of a culture filtrate(CF)of 100 ppm of the *** was made in callus obtained in the treatment with 15 mm EmS during 2 h of *** CF caused oxidation and necrosis in 71.25%of the callus;however,they were capable of generating shoots(3.5 shoots/callus).molecular markers type RAPD,ISSR and DAmD were used to evaluate the genetic variation arising from the mutations caused by EmS on control plants and 16-month-old somaclonal *** polymorphic information content(PIC)for each one of the initiating groups was:0.28(DAmD),0.09(ISSR)and 0.14(RAPD).DAmD revealed a greater percentage of polymorphism than RAPD and *** bands were detected in the somaclonal *** indicated that the EmS caused genetic variation in the regenerated plants conferring resistance to them against Fusarium oxysporum.

Loggerhead Sea Turtles Hand-Reared in Captivity: Isotopic Insights into Their Inherent Dietary Variation

Stable isotope analysis is a widely used method for gathering ecological insights into the diet and feeding habitats of various species. While captive studies often limit lethal sampling and differ from wild conditions, they offer valuable insights into inherent isotopic variations among individuals, which are often assumed to reflect differences between natural populations. In the Sea Turtle Conservation Program, loggerhead turtle hatchlings from different nests were fed. necropsies were conducted on turtles that died during this period, obtaining bone fragments for analysis. We evaluated the isotopic variation of carbon (δ13C) and nitrogen (δ15n) in bone tissue across six turtle nests (n = 66 samples) and assessed differences in Straight Carapace Length (SCL, n = 71 samples). Using SIBER and nicheRoVER in R, we calculated niche width and overlap, while the simmr package determined primary prey assimilation. Despite feeding the hatchlings the same prey, we observed variations in nitrogen isotope assimilation between nests. nests 4 and 6 had a niche width >1.8‰, indicating consistent consumption frequencies across all prey and >70% niche overlap with other nests. In contrast, nests 1 and 2 showed a narrower niche width (mugil sp. constituted the primary diet component (>40%) across all groups. This study demonstrates how factors like competition or prey preference can influence the assimilation of diet, even when the source remains constant (inherent variation).

The objective of this work was to evaluate the effect of Beauveria bassiana(Bb 1205)on controlling Fusarium oxysporum ***(Fol 17108)in tomato plants in greenhouse *** of Bb 1205 was the most promising among the agronomic variables and expression of the activity of the enzymesβ-1,3-glucanases and *** of Bb 1205 occurred at a concentration of 1×108 conidia·mL−1,which was administered onto the leaves,directly into the soil and via *** with Fol 17108 occurred with 1×106 spores·mL−1,which were added directly to the *** was used for measuring agronomic parameters,namely activity of chitinases andβ-1,3-glucanases in foliage and *** Bb 1205 was added to the soil,the chlorophyll index and aerial part length showed significant *** addition,it was determined that root length,fresh weight of foliage,flower,and fruit count increased 82 days after inoculation(dai).Chitinase activity induced by Bb 1205 in leaves and roots of tomato plants infected with Fol 17108 was observed when injected into the stem at 32 dai(41.8 and 11.6-fold,respectively).Inoculation on the foliage showed a 10-fold increase ofβ-1,3-glucanases in the roots after 82 *** for leaves,a 3.8-fold increase was found when the stem was *** the different in vivo applications,Bb 1205 activated its defenses by expressing the chitinase enzymes andβ-1,3-glucanase,thus reducing the damage caused by Fol 17108,demonstrating increase plant growth thereafter.

This paper analyzes the network of passes among the players of the Spanish team during the last FIFA World Cup 2010,where they emerged as the champion,with the objective of explaining the results obtained from the behavior at the complex network *** team is considered a network with players as nodes and passes as(directed) edges.A temporal analysis of the resulting passes network is also done,looking at the number of passes,length of the chain of passes,and to network measures such as player centrality and clustering *** of the last three matches(the decisive ones) indicate that the clustering coefficient of the pass network remains high,indicating the elaborate style of the Spanish *** effectiveness of the opposing team in negating the Spanish game is reflected in the change of several network measures over time,most importantly in drops of the clustering coefficient and passing length/speed,as well as in their being able in removing the most talented players from the central positions of the ***'s ability to restore their combinative game and move the focus of the game to offensive positions and talented players is shown to tilt the balance in favor of the Spanish team.

on the non-evolution of the dependence of black hole masses on bolometric luminosities for QSos

There are extremely luminous quasi stellar objects （QSos） at high redshift which are absent at low redshift. The lower luminosities at low redshifts can be understood as the external manifestation of either a lower Eddington ratio or a lower mass. To distinguish between both effects, we determine the possible dependence of masses and Eddington ratios of QSos with a fixed luminosity as a function of redshifts; this avoids the malmquist bias or any other selection effect. For the masses and Eddington ratios derived for a sample of QSos in the Sloan Digital Sky Survey, we model their evolution by a double linear fit separating the dependence on redshifts and luminosities. The validity of the fits and possible systematic effects were tested by the use of different estimators of masses or bolometric luminosities, and possible intergalactic extinction effects. The results do not show any significant evolution of black hole masses or Eddington ratios for equal luminosity QSos. The black hole mass only depends on the bolometric luminosity without significant dependence on the redshift as （m BH/10 9 m ）≈ 3.4 （L bol/10 47 erg s-1）0.65 on average for z ≤ 5. This must not be confused with the possible evolution in the formation of black holes in QSos. The variations of the environment might influence the formation of the black holes but not their subsequent accretion. It also leaves a question to be solved： Why are there not QSos with very high mass at low redshift？ A brief discussion of the possible reasons for this is tentatively pointed out.

Altitude as environmental filtering influencing phylogenetic diversity and species richness of plants in tropical mountains

Elucidating how multiple factors affect biodiversity and plant community assembly is a central issue in ecology,especially in vulnerable ecosystems such as tropical *** studies are more relevant in global warming scenarios that induce the upward displacement of plant species towards reduced habitats and hostile environments in tropical *** study aimed to analyze how altitude affects taxonomic and phylogenetic diversity in plant communities of tropical ***,we tested if(i)increased altitude works as an environmental filtering promoting decreased species richness,decreased phylogenetic diversity,and increased phylogenetic clustering in these tropical mountains;and if(ii)plant communities of high altitude in tropical mountains are also result of recent diversification with plant species recently split shortening phylogenetic distances between closest related *** tested effects of altitude on species richness and phylogenetic metrics using linear mixed-effects *** Haleakala presented 114 species,mount Kilimanjaro presented 231 species and mount Purace presented 280 *** found an environmental filtering effect with increasing altitude causing phylogenetic clustering,decreased phylogenetic diversity and decreased species *** decreasing phylogenetic distances between closest relatives are congruent with neo-endemics,suggesting recent plant diversification in high altitudes of tropical mountains,possibly driven by geographic isolation and environmental *** of global warming should be monitored in tropical mountains focusing on distribution shifts.

Background: Intussusception is defined as a telescoping of a proximal gastrointestinal segment with its mesentery to a distal one, only 5% occur in adults and in colon the probability that it is caused by a malignant disease is up to 65%. only 1% occurs in a retrograde manner, the rest occur in an anterograde manner. Aim: Describe the clinical presentation of an intussusception in the adult patient as well as its most frequent causes and possible complications that influence decision making for a definitive treatment. Case Presentation: A 66-year-old woman diagnosed with colon adenocarcinoma who underwent elective transverse colectomy and colonic anastomosis with an incidental finding of a transverse colon tumor in a retrograde intussusception was studied. Conclusion: In any adult patient with an intussusception especially in colon a neoplasia should be suspected and the affected segment should be resected without being reduced due to the risk of perforation and tumor dissemination.
