Parameter identification for a damage phase field model using a physics-informed neural network

This work applies concepts of artificial neural networks to identify the parameters of a mathematical model based on phase fields for damage and *** mechanics is the part of the continuum mechanics that models the effects of micro-defect formation using state variables at the macroscopic *** equations that define the model are derived from fundamental laws of physics and provide important relationships among state *** using the model considered in this work produce good qualitative and quantitative results,but many parameters must be adjusted to reproduce certain material *** identification of model parameters is considered by solving an inverse problem that uses pseudo-experimental data to find the best values that fit the *** apply physics informed neural network and combine some classical estimation methods to identify the material parameters that appear in the damage equation of the *** strategy consists of a neural network that acts as an approximating function of the damage evolution with output regularized using the residue of the differential *** stages of optimization seek the best possible values for the neural network and the material *** training alternates between the fitting of only the pseudo-experimental data or the total loss that includes the regularizing *** test the robustness of the method to noisy data and its generalization capabilities using a simple physical case for the damage *** procedure deals better with noisy data in comparison with a more standard PDE-constrained optimization method,and it also provides good approximations of the material parameters and the evolution of damage.

＂Symptom of an Era＂： Dung Kai-Cheung＇s Histories of Time

This essay uses the notion of a symptom to examine the ways in which temporality is deployed in Hong Kong author Dung Kai-Cheung＇s 2007 novel, Histories o^Time. In particular, the essay follows Dung＇s own lead, in Histories of Time, and considers the peculiar temporality implicit in the concept of figuration in Biblical hermeneutics, wherein the ＂figure＂ mediates between the two distinct--yet structurally related--temporalities of the Old and the New Testaments： the ＂prefiguration＂ of the Old Testament and the ＂fulfillment of figuration＂ of the New Testament. I propose that a literary ＂figure,＂ in Dung＇s work, similarly mediates between the different temporal planes within his novel, while at the same time mediating between the fictional space of the novel and the historical era within which the work is positioned. just as a symptom is simultaneously a function of--but also structurally external to--the underlying condition that it signifies, this sort of literary figure may similarly be seen as a function of--but simultaneously external to--the historical era to which it corresponds. This sort of literary figure, accordingly, marks a point of rupture within the temporality of the novel and its corresponding era, while at the same time providing the ground on which that temporal continuum is established in the first place.

Effect of forest disturbance on myxomycete assemblages in the southwestern Peruvian Amazon

Although the effects of microenvironmental factors on distribution patterns in myxomycetes have been investigated,studies of the responses of this group of organisms to different regimes of forest disturbance are relatively few in *** an effort to understand the implications of forest fragmentation and habitat loss on myxomycetes,the project described herein was carried out at the Los Amigos Biological Station in southeastern *** structure and composition of assemblages of myxomycetes were investigated in relation to three different forest types and climatic periods in the area of *** analysis of the most commonly recorded substrates was carried out as *** results suggested that habitat loss,through differences in forest structure,was the factor determining most of the differences in fruiting body abundance of myxomycetes among forest *** addition,a switch in the ecological strategy of dispersal seemed to be an important factor accounting for differences in the fruiting body abundance and structure of assemblages of myxomycetes between collecting *** study provides evidence indicating that for microbial assemblages to maintain the balance of functional interactions within a particular forest ecosystem,the conservation of the forests themselves should be considered.

Myxomycetes associated with three different types of Neotropical urban landscapes

Urban ecology is a research field gaining momentum due to contextual pressures to study macroecological effects on ***,we evaluated the occurrence of myxomycetes in three urban Neotropical environments representing different levels of conurbation within different life *** used the moist chamber technique set up with ground litter collected by public roads for such *** showed that 79%of the 420 moist chambers yielded myxomycetes and the same number of samples generated 570 *** highest number of records and species were found in the cornurbated widespread city of the premontane moist forest life zone;and fewer records and species were recorded in the two non-conurbated compact *** lowest number of records was associated with the lowland dry forest life zone,whereas the lowest number of species was recorded in the desertic *** general,more records and more species were observed in the outer zones relative to the urban centre but no significant differences were observed in either *** is unlikely that the life zone characteristics could have primarily determined the results and highly likely played a secondary ***,previous geographical analyses in cities have reported no differences in myxomycete abundance or species richness in relation to the central parts of the urban *** results presented herein support the latter idea,but also suggest that the presence of inter-conurbated green spaces and availability of substrates might play a role in the occurrence of sporocarps of myxomycetes in urban environments.

The role of sampling methodology and site selection on myxomycete data from the Neotropics

Myxomycete sporocarps are practical units that can be used to study the effect of environmental issues such as climate change,urbanization,and natural disasters on *** scientific literature lacks empirical approaches to understand the impacts of sampling design and site selection on the data obtained in myxomycete field *** present investigation was designed to generate useful data for the evaluation of methodological *** were studied for two years in a tropical premontane wet forest in Costa Rica using two different sampling strategies and several collecting sites to evaluate potential differences in the *** collections were used to generate the dataset due to their usefulness for monitoring *** strategies had a smaller impact on the reported structure and composition of obtained species assemblages than site selection,but a combination of both clearly maximized the effort and provided the best results during the field *** variables of the forest with direct influence on the myxomycete life cycle such as tree diameter and leaf litter depth impacted the results *** of surveys at two different levels of effort were compared with total yearly efforts and results showed that revisiting sampling sites maximized the field *** demonstrated that the variability of sporocarp production in tropical forests should be considered in the design of long-term field experiments on myxomycetes.

The evaporation process has been studied widely in the past in order to understand the mechanisms and driving forces that induce the flow in multiphase *** knowledge is essential in industrial and real-life applications and systems such as oil recovery,soil remediation,water management in fuel cells,and *** this study,isothermal experiments at 21.5,46.7,and 74.1 ℃;and non-isothermal experiments with gradients of 10,20,and30 ℃ have been conducted in a 2D microfluidic pore network in order to observe the phase distribution,liquid-gas interface movement,liquid bridges,and capillary instability events induced by the dynamics of multi-phase *** find a relation between saturation and the flow rate during capillary instability *** show the formation and disappearance mechanisms of liquid bridges for all the non-isothermal and isothermal experiments at46.7,and 74.1 ℃.The effects of temperature in saturation,evaporation rate,capillary stability,specific interfacial area,and liquid bridges are also discussed in this *** temperature significantly impacts the evaporation rate,inducing different pathways when the gas phase recedes within the pore network and a shorter time duration for the overall evaporation *** instability is another phenomenon that affects the phase pattern and ***,it is not easy to observe and consider due to its duration(significantly shorter in comparison with the evaporation time)and unpredictability in the occurrence of a new ***,for the non-isothermal experiments,linear behavior is observed for the gradient between cold and hot temperatures.

Nucleation and growth kinetics of La0.7Sr0.3Cr0.4Mn0.6O3-δ SOFC perovskite:Symmetry alteration evolution induced by Cu2+ and Ni2+ impregnation

La0.7Sr0.3Cr0.4Mn0.6O3-δperovskite nanoparticles have been synthetized using an ethylene glycol modified solgel method and impregnated by Cu0.75Ni0.25nanoparticles. The phase transitions and nucleation kinetics were studied by time resolved x-ray diffraction, Rietveld, Raman spectroscopy and high resolution transmission electron microscopy. Findings have shown that, an atomic disorder dominates from room temperature to 400 °C. Nanoparticles with crystal size gh nuclei formation of La0.7Sr0.3Cr0.4Mn0.6O3-δand SrCrO4solid solutions with Pm3m cubic and P21/n monoclinic symmetry respectively in the range of 600–650 °C. Symmetry reduction from the Pm3m→R3c space group had been obtained at a lower temperature（750 °C） than those reported in the literature in oxygen atmosphere and it was confirmed by an octahedral distortion, which takes place in the crystallographic direction[221]/（122）. The johnson-Mehl-Avrami model had described the whole process, where the existence of two phases was shown before it reached its complete D3d6point group symmetry.
