The purpose of this study is to analyze whether the maturation of spontaneous eeG occurs at the same rate as Late Positive Component (LPC) maturation. To that end, the spontaneous eeG rhythms power spectral density (PSD) and the LPC component in a group of children and a group of young adults were obtained and analyzed by means of Spearman’s correlation coefficients, hierarchical clustering, Principal Component Analysis (PCA) and topographical analysis. The multivariate analysis revealed a co-maturation of LPC with the delta band. This co-maturation was more evident in the more posterior region. The multivariate analysis results suggest that the maturation of the two components is temporally closely associated. The LPC in both children and young adults was prod.ced by a combination of increase of event Related Spectral Perturbation (eRSP) and phase resetting in the delta band. It can be suggested that the maturations of delta and LPC are functionally interdependent due to a possible origin of LPC as a delta phase resetting and/or because both processes depend on the same fraction of synaptic pruning.

A sedentary lifestyle and obesity are important risk factors for severe COVID-19 complications and death[1,2].excessive adipose tissue(AT)might contribute to more extensive viral spread with increased shedding,immune activation,and cytokine amplification[3].Several factors secreted by contracting muscle,termed myokines,mediate the beneficial effects of exercise in a wide range of diseases,including obesity[4].Thus,we conducted a study to explore the potential role of myokines of the fibronectin type III domain-containing family,FNDC4 and FNDC5,in mechanisms underlying the increased susceptibility to COVID-19 complications in obesity.

The version 2.1 of PeTROMAR-3D model, created in the Center for Marine Meteorology of the Meteorology Institute of Cuba, is presented. This Lagrangian model has been designed to describe the physical processes of marine oil spills in the face of multiple scenarios of the marine environment. Although it is applicable to any part of the world, it is mainly designed for inter-American seas. The novelty has been to integrate the processes of drift and weathering into a model, with updated methods that incorporate 3D phenomena, a very favorable situation to achieve an operating system in Cuba and the region for the immediate and medium term. Python was chosen as the programming language because it has advanced libraries for numerical modeling, automation work and other useful tools for pre-and post-processing. By means of adapters, an important number of atmospheric, hydrod.namic and wave models have been considered to create the scenarios efficiently. The modular distribution in which the code has been created facilitates its use for other dispersion analysis and biophysical applications. Finally, a set of simple images are presented, aimed at informing decision-makers in order to mitigate the effects of the spill on the environment.

Oligosaccharins are potent biomolecules which activate defense responses and resistance in tobacco plants. However, it is not known the systemic behavior of defensive enzymes activated by these elicitors. In this work, the dynamic behavior of key defensive enzymes was evaluated in tobacco plant leaves previously treated through the roots with chitosan polymer (CH), chitosan (COS) and pectic (OGAS) oligosaccharides and Spermine (Sp). All macromolecules tested activated protein levels and defense enzymatic activity in tobacco leaves but with different response dynamics among them and depending on the biochemical variable evaluated. Defense response above control levels were detected since 12 hours after treatments and it consisted in a biphasic behavior with two peaks for PAL (eC 4.***.1.5) and β 1 - 3 glucanase (eC 3.***.1.6) enzymatic activities. The highest enzymatic levels for these enzymes were achieved at 48 hours in plantlets elicited with COS and at 72 hours for those plants treated with chitosan polymer, while the highest POD (eC 1.***.1.6) activity was detected with CH between 48 and 72 hours. These results demonstrated systemic defense activation by oligosaccharins in tobacco whose dynamic of defense response is affected by the kind of oligosaccharins tested. When applying OGAS by foliar spray on tobacco, systemic resistance against Phytoththora nicotianae was induced and plantlets were protected with the low concentration tested by 46% under the bioassays conditions performed. Moreover, enzymatic determinations on roots and leaves previous to plant-pathogen interaction showed increments above 30% of control levels for PAL and POD activities. It means that oligosaccharins activate local and systemic defense responses in plants in the absent of pathogen infection.

AIM To investigate the main current etiologies of cirrhosis in *** We performed a cross-sectional retrospective multicenter study that included eight hospitals in different areas of Mexico. These hospitals provide health care to people of diverse social classes. The inclusion criteria were a histological, clinical, biochemical, endoscopic, or imaging diagnosis of liver cirrhosis. Data were obtained during a 5-year period(January 2012-December 2017). ReSULTS A total of 1210 patients were included. The mean age was 62.5 years(SD = 12.1), and the percentages of men and women were similar(52.0% vs 48.0%). The most frequent causes of liver cirrhosis were hepatitis C virus(HCV)(36.2%), alcoholic liver disease(ALD)(31.2%), and nonalcoholic steatohepatitis(23.2%), and the least frequent were hepatitis B virus(1.1%), autoimmune disorders(7.3%), and other conditions(1.0%).CONCLUSION HCV and ALD are the most frequent causes of cirrhosis in Mexico. However, we note that non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD) as an etiology of cirrhosis increased by 100% compared with the rate noted previously. We conclude that NAFLD will soon become one of the most frequent etiologies of liver cirrhosis in Mexico.

This work describes a simple yet powerful scalable solution chemistry strategy to create back‐contact rich interfaces between substrates such as commercial transparent conducting fluorine‐doped tin oxide coated glass(FTO)and photoactive thin films such as hematite for low‐cost water oxidation ***‐resolution electron microscopy(SeM,TeM,STeM),atomic force microscopy(AFM),elemental chemical mapping(eeLS,eDS)and photoelectrochemical(PeC)investigations reveal that the mechanical stress,lattice mismatch,electron energy barrier,and voids between FTO and hematite at the back‐contact interface as well as short‐circuit and detrimental reaction between FTO and the electrolyte can be alleviated by engineering the chemical composition of the precursor solutions,thus increasing the overall efficiency of these low‐cost photoanodes for water oxidation reaction for a clean and sustainable generation of hydrogen from PeC water‐*** findings are of significant importance to improve the charge collection efficiency by minimizing electron‐hole recombination observed at back‐contact interfaces and grain boundaries in mesoporous electrod.s,thus improving the overall efficiency and scalability of low‐cost PeC water splitting devices.

Hyperlipidemia plays an important role in the development of atherosclerosis, the main cause of death in the world. In this study, the lipid-lowering effect of Carica papaya leaf in rats fed with a high cholesterol diet was evaluated. Daily doses of C. papaya extract 0, 31, 62 or 125 mg/kg body weight were orally administered in 300 μl polyethylene glycol to hypercholesterolemic rats;it was also administered 62 mg/kg body weight of the extract to rats with normal diet. After a 20-day treatment, the animals were sacrificed;blood and liver were analyzed. Hypercholesterolemic rats showed an increased serum and liver cholesterol, triacylglycerols, and atherogenic index. The C. papaya extract prod.ced a significant decrease of serum and liver cholesterol concentrations in hypercholesterolemic rats, but did not modify serum or liver triacylglycerols;however, the extract reduced the atherogenic index in a dose-dependent manner. C. papaya treatment decreased LDL-C and increased HDL-C in serum significantly. When the oxygen consumption was evaluated in phosphorylating and resting states, the respiratory control in hypercholesterolemic rats mitochondria was lower than in normal diet rats. However, a higher respiratory control in hypercholesterolemic rats mitochondria was observed after C papaya treatment. The liver morphological data are in accordance with serum and liver biochemical values. Our data support that C. papaya has a significant hypocholesterolemic action and HDL-C raising effect on rats fed with a cholesterol-rich diet, however, the precise metabolites responsible of this effect remain unknown.

Purpose: We evaluated the findings from 18F-DCFPyL PSMA PeT-CTs performed on patients presenting biochemical recurrence (BCR) of prostate cancer (PCa) and assessed its impact on staging. Methods and materials: This was a multicenter retrospective analysis of patients with PCa and BCR who underwent 18F-DCFPyL PSMA PeT-CT in 2020. The patients were stratified into two groups: BCR after prostatectomy (PSA ≥ 0.2 ng/mL) or BCR after radiotherapy (PSA ≥ 2 ng/mL + nadir). We analyzed the lesions according to number and location. The Shapiro-Wilk test was used to estimate the distribution of the variables. We calculated representative statistics for the quantitative variables including the mean, standard deviation, median, and interquartile range. The association between qualitative variables was examined using Chi-squared tests. Results: 40 patients with BCR were analyzed;67.5% presented disease progression, predominantly distant recurrence (42.5%), which was found exclusively in bone;55% presented ≤5 lesions and of these, 68.2% only presented 1 lesion. There was a change in staging in 66.7% of the cases;17.7% received ablative treatment with stereotactic radiotherapy (SABR). Conclusions: 18F-DCFPyL PSMA PeT-CT represents a new way to manage patients with BCR that, in this study, resulted in a change in staging in 66.7% of cases and early identification of oligometastatic progressions in the subgroup of patients with PSA < 0.5 ng/mL.
