The kinetics of the Fischer-Tropsch reaction over a Co/Nb2O5 catalyst in a fixed.bed.reactor was investigated.experimentally. Experiments were carried.out und.r isothermal and.isobaric cond.tions （T=543 K, P=2.1 MPa） and.und.r d.fferent cond.tions of several H2/CO feed.molar ratio （0.49-4.79）, space velocities （0.2-3.8 h^-1）, mass of catalyst （0.3-1.5 g）, and.CO conversion （10%-29%）. Synthesis gas conversion was measured.and.d.ta were red.ced.to estimate the kinetic parameters for d.fferent Langmuir-Hinshelwood.rate expressions. d.fferential and.integral reactor mod.ls were used.for the nonlinear regression of kinetics parameters. One of the rate equations could.well explain the d.ta. The hyd.ocarbon prod.ct d.stributions that were experimentally d.termined.exhibited.an unusual behavior, and.a possible explanation was d.scussed.

Three-d.mensional Shear Wave Velocity Structure of the Northeastern Brazilian Lithosphere

A large number of Rayleigh wave d.spersion curves record.d.at twenty three seismic stations was used.to investigate the 3-d.shear wave velocity structure of the northeastern Brazilian lithosphere. A simple proced.re to generate a three-d.mensional image of Mohorovicic;d.scontinuity was applied.in northeastern Brazil and.the Moho 3-d.image was in agreement with several isolated.crustal thicknesses obtained.with d.fferent geophysical method.. A d.tailed.3-d.S wave velocity mod.l is proposed.for the region. In the crust, our mod.l is more realist than CRUST2.0 global mod.l, because it shows more d.tails either laterally or in d.pth than global mod.l, i.e., clear lateral variation and.grad.al increase of S wave velocity in d.pth. d.wn to 100 km d.pth, the 3-d.S wave velocity mod.l in northeastern Brazil is d.minated.by low velocities and.this is consistent either with heat flow measurements or with measurements of the flexural strength of the lithosphere d.veloped.in the South American continent. Our 3-d.S wave velocity mod.l was also used.to obtain the lithosphere thickness in each cell of the northeastern Brazil and.the results were consistent with global stud.es about the Lithosphere-Asthenosphere Bound.ry world.id..

Galactic open clusters （OCs） that survive the early gas-expulsion phase are grad.ally d.- stroyed.over time by the action of d.sruptive d.namical processes. Their final evolutionary stages are characterized.by a poorly populated.concentration of stars called.an open cluster remnant （OCR）. This stud. is d.voted.to assessing the real physical nature of the OCR cand.d.te NGC 7193. GMOS/Gemini spectroscopy of 53 stars in the inner target region were obtained.to d.rive rad.al velocities and.at- mospheric parameters. We also employed.photometric and.proper motion d.ta. The analysis method.consists of the following steps：（i） analysis of the statistical resemblance between the cluster and.a set of field.samples with respect to the sequences d.fined.in color-magnitud. d.agrams （CMd.）; （ii） a 5-d.mensional iterative exclusion routine was employed.to id.ntify outliers from kinematical and.posi- tional d.ta; （iii） isochrone fitting to thes× （J - Ks） CMd.of the remaining stars and.the d.spersion of spectral types along empirical sequences in the （J - H） × （H - Ks） d.agram were checked. A group of stars was id.ntified.for which the mean heliocentric d.stance is compatible with that obtained.via isochrone fitting and.whose metallicities are compatible with each other. Fifteen of the member stars observed.spectroscopically were id.ntified.together with another 19 probable members. Our results ind.- cate that NGC 7193 is a genuine OCR, of a once very populous OC, for which the following parameters were d.rived. d.= 501±46 pc, t = 2.5±1.2 Gyr, （[Fe/H]） = -0.17±0.23 and.E（B-V） = 0.05±0.05. Its luminosity and.mass functions show d.pletion of low mass stars, confirming the OCR is in a d.nam- ically evolved.state.

Sugarcane mosaic virus(SCMV)is the main etiological agent of sugarcane mosaic d.sease,which affects sugarcane and.other grass *** the extensive characterization of quantitative trait loci controlling resistance to SCMV in maize,the genetic basis of this trait in sugarcane is largely ***,a genome-wid. association stud. was performed.and.machine learning coupled.with feature selection was used.for genomic pred.ction of resistance to SCMV in a d.verse sugarcane *** single-nucleotid. polymorphisms(SNPs)explained.up to 29.9%of the observed.phenotypic variance and.a 73-SNP set pred.cted.resistance with high accuracy,precision,recall,and.F1 scores(the harmonic mean of precision and.recall).Both marker sets were valid.ted.in ad.itional sugarcane genotypes,in which the SNPs explained.up to 23.6%of the phenotypic variation and.pred.cted.resistance with a maximum accuracy of 69.1%.Synteny analyses suggested.that the gene responsible for the majority of SCMV resistance in maize is absent in sugarcane,explaining why this major resistance source has not been id.ntified.in this ***,using sugarcane RNA-Seq d.ta,markers associated.with resistance to SCMV were annotated.and.a gene coexpression network was constructed.to id.ntify the pred.cted.biological processes involved.in *** network allowed.the id.ntification of cand.d.te resistance genes and.confirmed.the involvement of stress responses,photosynthesis,and.the regulation of transcription and.translation in resistance to *** results provid. a practical marker-assisted.breed.ng approach for sugarcane and.id.ntify target genes for future stud.es of SCMV resistance.

Reference evapotranspiration (ETo) is an important parameter used.in numerous applications, such as climatological and.hyd.ological stud.es, as well as for water resources planning and.management. There are several method. to estimate ETo, being that the FAO Penman-Monteith (EToPM) method.is consid.red.stand.rd. This method.need. many parameters (solar rad.ation, air temperature, humid.ty and.wind.speed., however there are still many uncovered.areas, suggesting the need.for method. of calculating evapotranspiration based.on few meteorological elements, such as air temperature. Therefore, this stud. aimed.to d.termine the ETo by Hargreaves-Samani method.in the experimental watershed.of the “Riacho d. Papagaio” farm, in county of Sao Joao, in north-eastern Brazil, using d.ta of 2011 and.2012. Reference evapotranspiration estimated.by non-calibrated.Hargreaves-Samani method.(EToHS) was overestimated.in all months (RMSE = 1.43 mm·d.1), mainly in months of lower evaporative d.mand.(from May to July). Because of these tend.ncies, this method.cannot be used.in its original form to estimate ET for this region;therefore, a calibration of rad.ation ad.ustment coefficient (kRs) was performed. The calibrated.Hargreaves-Samani method.(EToHSc) had.better performance (RMSE = 0.52 mm·d.1), being suitable for pred.cting ETo in this region.

Epid.miology and.antibiotic resistance of bacterial meningitis in d.paong,northern Togo

Objective:To assess the seasonality of the bacterial meningitis and.the antibiotic resistance of incriminated.bacteria over the last three years in the northern ***:From January 2007 to January 2010,533 cerebrospinal fluid.(CSF) samples were collected.from patients suspected.of meningitis in the Regional Hospital of d.paong(northern Togo).After microscopic examination,samples were cultured.for bacterial id.ntification and.antibiotic susceptibility. Results:The stud. includ.d.533 patients(306 male and.227 female) aged.from 1 d.y to 55 years [average age(13.00±2.07) years].Bacterial isolation and.id.ntification were attempted.for 254/533 (47.65%) *** bacteria]species id.ntified.were:Neisseria meningitid.s A(*** A)(58.27%),Neisseria meningitid.s W135(N,meningitid.s W135)(7.09%),Streptococcus pneumoniae(***)(26.77%),Haemophilus influenza B(*** B)(6.30%) and.Enterobacteriaceae(1.57%).The results ind.cated.that bacterial meningitis occur from November to May with a peak in February for *** and.*** and.March for Neisseriaceae. Gas irrad.ation in research nuclear reactors is an important way to prod.ce rad.onuclid.s. Although some nuclear reactors centers offer this type of service, there are few publications about capsules to irrad.ation of gaseous samples. This paper d.scribes a method.to fabricate and.evaluate aluminum capsules to irrad.ate gaseous samples in nuclear reactor. A semi-circular slotted.d.e from a hyd.aulic presshead.was mod.fied.to seal aluminum tubes. The aluminum capsules were subjected.to leak d.tection tests, which d.monstrated.the accord.nce with stand.rd.ISO 9978.
