The recovery of lithium from hard rock minerals has received increased attention given the high demand for this element. There- fore, this study optimized an innovative process, which does not require a high-temperature calcination step, for lithium extraction from le- pidolite. Mechanical activation and acid digestion were suggested as crucial process parameters, and experimental design and re- sponse-surface methodology were applied to model and optimize the proposed lithium extraction process. The promoting effect of amorphi- zation and the formation of lithium sulfate hydrate on lithium extraction yield were assessed. Several factor combinations led to extraction yields that exceeded 90%, indicating that the proposed process is an effective approach for lithium recovery.

The number of published studies related to the optimization of lithium extraction from low-grade ores has increased as the demand for lithium has grown. However, no study related to the kinetics of the concentration stage of lithium-containing minerals by froth flotation has yet been reported. To establish a factorial design of batch flotation experiments, we conducted a set of kinetic tests to determine the most selective alternative collector, define a range of pulp p H values, and estimate a near-optimum flotation time. Both collectors（Aeromine 3000 C and Armeen 12D） provided the required flotation selectivity, although this selectivity was lost in the case of pulp p H values outside the range between 2 and 4. Cumulative mineral recovery curves were used to adjust a classical kinetic model that was modified with a non-negative parameter representing a delay time. The computation of the near-optimum flotation time as the maximizer of a separation efficiency（SE） function must be performed with caution. We instead propose to define the near-optimum flotation time as the time interval required to achieve 95%–99% of the maximum value of the SE function.

Bone regeneration is a critical area in regenerative medicine,particularly in orthopedics,demanding effective biomedical materials for treating bone defects.45S5 bioactive glass(45S5 BG)is a promising material because of its osteoconductive and bioactive properties.As research in this field continues to advance,keeping up-to-date on the latest and most successful applications of this material is imperative.To achieve this,we conducted a comprehensive search on Pub-Med/MEDLINE,focusing on English articles published in the last decade.Our search used the keywords“bioglass 45S5 AND bone defect”in combination.We found 27 articles,and after applying the inclusion criteria,we selected 15 studies for detailed examination.Most of these studies compared 45S5 BG with other cement or scaffold materials.These comparisons demonstrate that the addition of various composites enhances cellular biocompatibility,as evidenced by the cells and their osteogenic potential.Moreover,the use of 45S5 BG is enhanced by its antimicrobial properties,opening avenues for additional investigations and applications of this biomaterial.

The Intertropical Convergence Zone(ITCZ)is a key atmospheric system on a global scale,primarily driven by trade wind convergence near the equator.The ITCZ plays a crucial role in modulating the climate of the borders of tropical continental areas.For instance,Northeastern Brazil experiences a climate influenced by the ITCZ over the Atlantic Ocean.In some periods,the ITCZ exhibits double bands,known as the double ITCZ.While the features of the ITCZ have been described using various approaches and atmospheric variables,there is still a lack of regional studies focusing on the ITCZ and double ITCZ in the Atlantic Ocean.In this context,the main goals of this study are(1)to describe a simple algorithm based on precipitation to identify the ITCZ and double ITCZ,(2)to present a climatology(1997-2022)of the position,width,and intensity of these two convective bands,and(3)to investigate variabilities in the ITCZ characteristics associated with anomalies of sea surface temperature(SST)in the tropical Pacific and Atlantic oceans.The double ITCZ typically occurs southward of the main cloud band,and between February and April,both bands are more distant(~4.5°).In the western sector of the Atlantic Ocean,the ITCZ and its double band extend to more southerly latitudes in austral autumn.Considering the entire Atlantic basin,the annual mean of the latitudinal position,width,and intensity of the ITCZ is 4.9°N,4.2°,and 11 mm/day,respectively,while for the double ITCZ,it is 0.4°N,2.6°,10.3 mm/day,respectively.While the SST anomalies in the Pacific Ocean(El Niño and La Niña episodes)affect more the ITCZ width,the SST anomalies in the Tropical South Atlantic affect both its position and width.

目的系统评价和整合社区居家老年人跌倒经历的看法与体验,为后续发展跌倒预防及管理的干预提供信息,为健康照护实践提供建议。方法依据乔安娜布里格斯研究所(Joanna Briggs Institute,JBI)质性系统评价方法论进行质性研究meta整合,在PubMed、CINAHL、PsycInfo、Embase、Web of science等数据库进行检索,发表时间限定为2010年1月至2023年5月,仅纳入经同行评审的英文文献。使用JBI质性研究质量评价标准评价纳入文献的方法学质量,按照ConQual评分准则检验整合结果的信度。本综述方案已在PROSPERO注册(CRD 42023421789)。结果共纳入10项研究,方法学质量评价得分为60%至90%。提炼59个完好明确的结果,将相似结果归纳组合形成7个类别,并综合成3个整合结果,在ConQual评分上,综合结果2评为中等,综合结果1和3评为低等。整合结果1:跌倒后老年人经历了身体的损伤和疼痛、日常活动受限、社交受限、独立性降低或丧失、并有恐惧和无助感。整合结果2:经历跌倒后,老年人反思跌倒的原因,并识别、解释风险因素。整合结果3:老年人对跌倒原因和后果有正面和负面的看法,其采取的应对跌倒的措施包括使用辅助器具、纠正风险因素、寻求医疗帮助、关注身体和心理状况等。结论医疗卫生提供者应重视老年人跌倒后的感受、经历,以及对跌倒原因和影响的反思,进行特定的干预。今后还需要进行纵向研究,以检测跌倒对老年人的长期影响,深入了解他们的反思、感知、态度和预防行为随时间的改变情况。

The high costs incurred due to attacks and the increasing number of different devices in the Internet of Things(IoT)highlight the necessity of the early detection of botnets(i.e.,a network of infected devices)to gain an advantage against attacks.However,early botnet detection is challenging because of continuous malware mutations,the adoption of sophisticated obfuscation techniques,and the massive volume of data.The literature addresses botnet detection by modeling the behavior of malware spread,the classification of malicious traffic,and the analysis of traffic anomalies.This article details ANTE,a system for ANTicipating botnEt signals based on machine learning algorithms.The system adapts itself to different scenarios and detects different types of botnets.It autonomously selects the most appropriate Machine Learning(ML)pipeline for each botnet and improves the classification before an attack effectively begins.The system evaluation follows trace-driven experiments and compares ANTE results to other relevant results from the literature over four representative datasets:ISOT HTTP Botnet,CTU-13,CICDDoS2019,and BoT-IoT.Results show an average detection accuracy of 99.06%and an average bot detection precision of 100%.

Mercury in sediments and vegetation in a moderately contaminated salt marsh (Tagus Estuary, Portugal)

Depth variations of total mercury （Hg） and methylmercury （MeHg） concentrations were studied in cores from non-colonized sediments, sediments colonized by Halimione portulacoides, Sarcocornia fruticosa and Spartina maritima and belowground biomass, in a moderately contaminated salt marsh （Tagus Estuary, Portugal）. Concentrations in belowground biomass exceeded up to 3 （Hg） and 15 （MeHg） times the levels in sediments, and up to 198 （Hg） and 308 （MeHg） times those found in aboveground parts. Methylmercury in colonized sediments reached 3% of the total Hg, 50 times above the maximum values found in non-colonized sediments. The absence of correlations between total Hg concentrations in sediments and the corresponding MeHg levels suggested that methylation was only dependent on the environmental and microbiological factors. The analysis of belowground biomass at high-depth resolution （2 cm） provided evidence that Hg and MeHg were actively absorbed from sediments, with higher enrichment factors at layers where higher microbial activity was probably occurring. The results obtained in this study indicated that the biotransformation of Hg to the toxic MeHg could increase the toxicity of plant-colonized sediments.

Cirrhosis is an emerging major cause of the development of hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC),but in non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD),up to 50%of patients with HCC had no clinical or histological evidence of cirrhosis.It is currently challenging to propose general recommendations for screening patients with NAFLD without cirrhosis,and each patient should be evaluated on a caseby-case basis based on the profile of specific risk factors identified.For HCC screening in NAFLD,a valid precision-based screening is needed.Currently,when evaluating this population of patients,the use of non-invasive methods can guide the selection of those who should undergo a screening and surveillance program.Hence,the objective of the present study is to review the epidemiology,the pathophysiology,the histopathological aspects,the current recommendations,and novel perspectives in the surveillance of non-cirrhotic NAFLD-related HCC.

Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD)is the most common chronic liver disease worldwide and is strongly associated with metabolic deregulation.More recently,a significant impact of parental NAFLD in the offspring was demonstrated and has been widely discussed.However,pathogenetic pathways implicated in the inheritance by the offspring and relatives are still under debate.Probably,multiple mechanisms are involved as well as in NAFLD pathogenesis itself.Among the multifactorial involved mechanisms,genetic,epigenetic and environmental backgrounds are strongly related to NAFLD development in the offspring.Thus,based on recent evidence from the available literature concerning genetic,epigenetic and environmental disease modifiers,this review aimed to discuss the relationship between parental NAFLD and its impact on the offspring.

Bladder cancer(BC)is one of the most frequently diagnosed types of urinary cancer.Despite advances in treatment methods,no specific biomarkers are currently in use.Targeted and untargeted profiling of metabolites and elements of human blood serum from 100 BC patients and the same number of normal controls(NCs),with external validation,was attempted using three analytical methods,i.e.,nuclear magnetic resonance,gold and silver-109 nanoparticle-based laser desorption/ionization mass spectrometry(LDI-MS),and inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry(ICP-OES).All results were subjected to multivariate statistical analysis.Four potential serum biomarkers of BC,namely,isobutyrate,pyroglutamate,choline,and acetate,were quantified with proton nuclear magnetic resonance,which had excellent predictive ability as judged by the area under the curve(AUC)value of 0.999.Two elements,Li and Fe,were also found to distinguish between cancer and control samples,as judged from ICP-OES data and AUC of 0.807(in validation set).Twenty-five putatively identified compounds,mostly related to glycans and lipids,differentiated BC from NCs,as detected using LDI-MS.Five serum metabolites were found to discriminate between tumor grades and nine metabolites between tumor stages.The results from three different analytical platforms demonstrate that the identified distinct serum metabolites and metal elements have potential to be used for noninvasive detection,staging,and grading of BC.
