MicroRNAs(miRNAs)are endogenous,small non-coding RNAs that function in regulation of gene *** evidences have demonstrated that miRNA expression is dysregulated in human cancer through various mechanisms,including amplification or deletion of miRNA genes,abnormal transcriptional control of miRNAs,dysregulated epigenetic changes and defects in the miRNA biogenesis *** may function as either oncogenes or tumor suppressors under certain *** dysregulated miRNAs have been shown to affect the hallmarks of cancer,including sustaining proliferative signaling,evading growth suppressors,resisting cell death,activating invasion and metastasis,and inducing *** increasing number of studies have identified miRNAs as potential biomarkers for human cancer diagnosis,prognosis and therapeutic targets or tools,which needs further investigation and *** this review,we focus on how miRNAs regulate the development of human tumors by acting as tumor suppressors or oncogenes.

A Complex Systems Science Perspective on Wireless Networks

The paper targets a future world where all wireless networks are self-organising entities and in which the predominant mode of spectrum access is dynamic. The paper explores whether the behaviour of a collection of autonomous self-organising wireless systems can be treated as a complex system and whether complex systems science can shed light on the design and deployment of these networks. The authors focus on networks that self-organise from a frequency perspective to understand the behaviour of a collection of wireless self-organising nodes. Each autonomous network is modelled as a cell in a lattice and follows a simple set of self-organisation rules. Two scenarios are considered, one in which each cell is based on cellular automata and which provides an abstracted view of interference and a second in which each cell uses a self-organising technique which more accurately accounts for interference. The authors use excess entropy to measure complexity and in combination with entropy gain an understanding of the structure emerging in the lattice for the self-organising networks. The authors show that the self-organising systems presented here do exhibit complex behaviour. Finally,the authors look at the robustness of these complex systems and show that they are robust against changes in the environment.

Choice for China:What Role for Vocational Education in Green Growth?

Green growth cannot succeed without significant changes in the education system and the closely related social division of labor. This paper combines historical evidence and a game-theoretic analysis to study the relation between vocational education and green growth. it is found that a low-vocation and a high-vocation equilibrium can be distinguished in the interplay between education and labor markets, and that a high-vocation equilibrium is better suited for green growth. A t the present stage of development, there are tendencies in both directions in China. Therefore, China has the possibility to successfully implement a green growth strategy by developing a strong vocational education with Chinese characteristics.

AiM: To investigate how weight gain after OLT affects the speed of fibrosis progression (SFP) during recurrent hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection of the ***: Ninety consecutive patients (63 males,median age 53 years; 55 with HCV-related liver disease),transplanted at a single institution, were studied. All were followed for at least 2 years after OLT and had at least one follow-up graft biopsy, performed not earlier than 1 year after the transplant operation. For each biopsy, a single,experienced pathologist gave an estimate of both the staging according to ishak and the degree of hepatic *** SFP was quantified in fibrosis units/month (FU/mo).The lipid metabolism status of patients was summarized by the plasma triglycerides/cholesterol (T/C) ratio. Body mass index (BMi) was measured before OLT, and 1 and 2 years after ***: in the HCV positive group, the highest SFP was observed in the first post-OLT year. At that time point,a SFP ≤0.100 FU/mo was observed more frequently among recipients who had received their graft from a young donor and had a pre-transplant BMi value ＞26.0 kg/m2. At completion of the first post-transplant year, a BMi value ＞26.5 kg/m2 was associated with a T/C ratio ≤1. The proportion of patients with SFP ＞0.100 FU/mo descended in the following order: female recipients with a high T/C ratio, male recipients with high T/C ratio, and recipients of either gender with low T/C ratio. Hepatic steatosis was observed more frequently in recipients who, in the first post-transplant year, had increased their BMi ≥1.5 kg/m2 in comparison to the pre-transplant value. Hepatic steatosis was inversely associated with the staging ***: Among HCV positive recipients, excessweight gain post-OLT does not represent a factor favoring early liver fibrosis development and might even be protective against it.

Hepatitis C virus （HCV） is a global health problem affecting 3% of the world＇s population （about 180 million） and a cause of both hepatic and extrahepatic diseases. B-cell lymphoproUferative disorders, whose prototype is mixed cryoglobulinemia, represent the most closely related as well as the most investigated HCV- related extrahepatic disorder. The association between extrahepatic （lymphoma） as well as hepatic malignancies （hepatocellular carcinoma） has justified the inclusion of HCV among human cancer viruses. HCV-associated manifestations also include porphyria cutanea tarda, lichen planus, nephropathies, thyreopathies, sicca syndrome, idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, diabetes, chronic polyarthritis, sexual dysfunctions, cardiopathy/ atherosclerosis, and psychopathological disorders. A pathogenetic link between HCV virus and some lymphoproliferative disorders was confirmed by their responsiveness to antiviral therapy, which is now considered the first choice treatment. The aim of the present paper is to provide an overview of extrahepatic manifestations of HCV infection with particular attention to B-cell lymphoproliferative disorders. Available pathogenetic hypotheses and suggestions about the most appropriate, currently available, therapeutic approaches will also be discussed.

in spite of the well-established understanding of the phenotypic lesions occurring in the shift from native epithelia to invasive （adeno） carcinoma, the molecular b/ping of the precancerous changes in the gastrointes- tinal tract remains unreliable. in recent years, no biomarkers have aroused as much interest as the miRNAs, a class of non-coding RNA molecules that function as endogenous silencers of numerous target genes. Aberrant miRNA expression is a hallmark of human disease, including cancer. Unlike most mRNAs, miRNAs are both long-living in vivo and very stable in vitro. Such charac- teristics allow their testing in paraffin-embedded tissue samples, which is essential in the biological profiling of small （phenotypically characterized） preneoplastic lesions of the gastrointestinal tract （as well as in other fields of human pathology）. The upcoming challenge lies in the reliable identification of disease-specific targets of dysregulated miRNAs, to enable miRNA testing in the clinical management of the secondary prevention of gastrointestinal cancer.

We theoretically investigate the electromagnetic response of a novel class of multilayered metamaterials obtained by alternating graphene sheets and dielectric layers,the whole structure not exhibiting a plane of reflection symmetry along the stacking *** show that the electromagnetic response of the structure is characterized by a magneto-electric coupling described by an effective chiral *** the intrinsic tunability of graphene–light coupling,we prove that one can tune both the dielectric and the chiral electromagnetic response by varying the graphene chemical potential through external voltage gating.
