Hepatitis C is a liver disease that is transmitted through contact with the blood of an infected person. An estimated 150 million individuals worldwide have been chronically infected with the hepatitis C virus(HCV). Hepatitis C shows significant genetic variation in the global population, due to the high rate of viral RNA mutation. There are six variants of the virus(HCV genotypes 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6), with 15 recorded subtypes that vary in prevalence across different regions of the world. A variety of devices are used to diagnose hepatitis C, including HCV antibody test, HCV viral load test, HCV genotype test and liver biopsy. Rapid, inexpensive, sensitive, and robust analytical devices are therefore essential for effective diagnosis and monitoring of disease treatment. This review provides an overview of current electrochemical immunosensor and genosensortechnologies employed in HCV *** are a limited number of publications showing electrochemical biosensors being used for the detection of *** to their simplicity,specificity,and reliability,electrochemical biosensor devices have potential clinical applications in several viral infections.

The 18th International symposium on Geodynamics and Earth Tides 2016 covered phenomena that generate temporal variations in geodetic and geophysical observations. In calculating the stress field for Earth tides, the observed geodetic response is used for defining the Earth＇s theology, the Earth internal structure, ＇Earth rotation parameters, and the functioning of the sophisticated instrumentation mounted on Earth and satellites. The instrumentation capable of observing Earth tides, measures changes generated by lithospheric plate movements, as the earthquake cycle and volcanism. Hydrology, tem- perature, and pressure, either of natural or anthropogenic origin, affect the high precision observations, and therefore must be included in this study-realm.

AIM： To examine the in vivo phenotype associated with hepatic metastatic lymph node 64 （MLN64） overexpression.METHODs： Recombinant-adenovirus-mediated MLN64 gene transfer was used to overexpress MLN64 in the livers of C57BL/6 mice. We measured the effects of MLN64 overexpression on hepatic cholesterol content, bile flow, biliary lipid secretion and apoptosis markers. For in vitro studies cultured CHO cells with transient MLN64 overexpression were utilized and apoptosis by TUNEL assay was measured.REsULTs： Livers from ***64-infected mice exhibited early onset of liver damage and apoptosis. This response correlated with increases in liver cholesterol content and bilian/bile acid concentration, and impaired bile flow. We investigated whether liver MLN64 expression could be modulated in a murine model of hepatic injury. We found increased hepatic MLN64 mRNA and protein levels in mice with chenodeoxycholic acid-induced liver damage. In addition, cultured CliO cells with transient MLN64 overexpression showed increased apoptosis.CONCLUsION： In summary, hepatic MLN64 overexpression induced damage and apoptosis in murine livers and altered cholesterol metabolism. Further studies are required to elucidate the relevance of these findings under physiologic and disease conditions.

The long-term outcomes of 157 patients affected by Peyronie＇s disease （PD） who underwent penile straightening with Egydio＇s technique between January 2004 and December 2008 are reported. Only patients with PD who were stable for at least 6-12 months prior to surgery were enrolled in this study. Preoperative assessment included a dynamic echo colour Doppler ultrasound scan to evaluate the degree of penile deformity and the peak systolic velocity in the cavernosal arteries and an assessment of erectile function with the administration of the International Index of Erectile Function 5 （IIEF-5） questionnaire. stretched penile length was recorded pre- and postoperatively. surgical complications, cosmesis and sexual function, patient satisfaction and postoperative erectile function were assessed postoperatively at 3 months, I year and 2 years, respectively. After a median follow-up period of 20 months （range： 12-24 months）, we found that mild residual curvature （12%） and glans hypoesthesia （3%） were the only causes of partial dissatisfaction. No rejection of the graft was observed. All patients recovered their ability to penetrate with no difficulty. In addition, an intraoperative average increase of 2.5 cm （range： 1.7-4.1 cm） in stretched penile length was recorded, with all patients engaging in penetrative sexual intercourse. In conclusion, this procedure represents a safe and reproducible technique for the correction of penile curvature resulting from PD and yields excellent cosmetic and functional results.

Four sites were selected in a salt marsh in the Bahia Blanca Estuary （Argentina）：（1） low marsh （flooded by the tide twice daily） vegetated by s. alterniflora; （2） non-vegetated low marsh; （3） high marsh （flooded only in spring tides） vegetated by s. alterniflora; （4） non-vegetated high marsh. The pH and Eh were measured in sediments, while dissolved nutrients （ammonium, nitrate, nitrite and phosphate） and particulate organic matter （POM） were determined in pore water, pH （6.2-8.7） was only affected by vegetation in low areas. Eh （from -300 to 250 mV） was lower at low sites than at high ones; in the latter, the values were higher in the non-vegetated sediments. The POM concentration was greater in the high marsh than in the low marsh, with no effect of vegetation. Ammonium was the most abundant nitrogen nutrient species in pore water, except in the non-vegetated high marsh where nitrate concentration was higher. All nitrogen nutrients were affected by both flooding and vegetation. Phosphate was always present in pore water at all sites throughout the year and its concentration varied within narrow limits, with no effect of flooding and greater values always at non-vegetated sites. Our results showed that the variability of the pore water composition within the marsh is greater than the temporal variation, meaning that both tidal flooding and vegetation are important in the dynamics of nutrients and organic matter in the sediment pore water.

BACKGROUND The predictive value of bleeding risk scores for atrial fibrillation in older patients is not as well *** goal of this study was to evaluate the predictive value of HAsBLED,ORBIT and ATRIA for major bleeding(MB)and intracranial hemorrhage(ICH)in patients≥75 years with atrial fibrillation and oral anticoagulation(OAC).METHODs A retrospective unicenter study including patients≥75 years with atrial fibrillation(AF)and OAC.A total of 7613 patients≥75 years with AF and OAC included between 2014 and 2018(registry:NCT04364516).We analyzed the discriminative value of HAsBLED,ATRIA and ORBIT scores for bleeding endpoints(major bleeding as primary endpoint and intracerebral hemorrhage as secondary).Cox regression was used to predict major bleeding with each scale and also for searching other variables potentially predictor of major *** discrimination was assessed using Harrell’s *** was assessed with goodness-of-fit test proposed by Gronnesby and *** During a mean follow up of 4.0 years(IQR:2.4–5.7 years),729 patients developed MB(2.61 per 100 patients/year)and 243 patients developed ICH(0.85 per 100 patients/year).Three scores showed a low discrimination for major bleeding,being ORBIT the best(HAsBLED C statistic=0.557;ATRIA C statistic=0.568;ORBIT C statistic=0.595)and also a low discrimination for ICH(HAsBLED C statistic=0.509;ATRIA C statistic=0.522;ORBIT C statistic=0.526).Among the variables that are part of the scores and other baseline characteristics,after multivariable adjustment only sex(male),dementia,prior admission for bleeding,anemia and liver disease were found as a predictors of *** In older patients under oral anticoagulation with atrial fibrillation,the risk scores HAsBLED,ATRIA and ORBIT showed a weak discrimination for major bleeding and intracranial ***,other better alternatives should be evaluated for this purpose.

This article considers the implication of the main character, Count Dracula, the villain/anti-hero in stoker＇s text, as a starting point to analysing the approaches deployed in the novel that introduce new stratagems to uncover the motives which allow the readers to find excuses to deny ＂pure＂ evilness. stoker＇s Dracula （1897） introduced the plausibility--in the realm of the gothic horror novel--of finding heroes in modem day ＂villains＂. This paper will argue this influence by introducing connections with modem ＂pop＂ vampires： from the teenage vampires in the Twilight saga both the texts （2005, 2006, 2007, ＆ 2008） and the film versions （ 2008, 2009, 2010, ＆ 2012）, to the grown-up fantasies of Charlaine Harris in the True Blood saga （both the 13 books published between 2001 and 2012 and the Home Box Office TV series that started in 2008 and, so far is in its 7th season in 2014） and Tim Button＇s Dark shadows （2012）, the remake of the 70s American Broadcasting Company Gothic soap opera （which ran between june 1966 to April 1977）. Bearing in mind the history of the vampire, through a brief account of its constant presence in the contemporary film and television industry, we will attempt to unveil the cultural reasons that bring light to the fact that modem society is out of brave good villains. The presentation will retrieve some theoretical support from Cristopher Frayling＇s analysis of the vampire myth, David Punters＇ ideas on the modem gothic and Maggie Kilgour＇s assumptions on the rise of the gothic.
