The breeding traits of Sporophila seedeaters have been relatively well studied in recent years;nevertheless,a group of ten species in the genus,known as southern capuchinos,remain *** is the case with Chestnut Seedeater(Sporophila cinnamomea),a species vulnerable to extinction,which breeds in the grasslands of southeast South America and,after reproduction,migrates towards the Cerrado region in central ***,we investigated breeding ecology and calculated average clutch size,productivity,the sex ratio of nestlings,and estimated nest *** we tested(1)whether there is a relationship between the number of active nests and environmental variables,(2)whether the nestling sex ratio deviates from the 1:1 ratio,(3)whether clutch size varies between breeding seasons,and(4)whether the nest success is related to starting date,nest age,plant support,nest height from the ground,and clutch *** two breeding seasons(October-March 2018-2020),we monitored 98 *** generated survival models with five interacting covariates to assess the survival of the *** recorded the entire breeding period for Chestnut Seedeater,which was estimated to be 4.6 months,similar to other migratory *** size did not differ between breeding *** sex ratio of nestlings was not significantly different from the 1:1 *** success was 31%,and predation was the leading cause of unsuccessful nests(83%).The daily survival rate was 0.95±*** main predictor of nest survival was the covariate starting *** findings,added to other aspects of the species’natural history described here,may help illuminate the ecology and behavior of Chestnut Seedeater and other southern endangered capuchinos,and grassland-dependent species of South America.

Redox behavior of gold supported on ceria and ceria-zirconia based catalysts

A series of gold-based catalysts were prepared by deposition precipitation or incipient wetness impregnation on CexZ1-xO2 solid solutions （0.28≤x≤1.00）. The morphological and structural characterization of these catalysts were carried out with X-ray diffraction, trans- mission electron microscopy （TEM） analysis and physical adsorption technique, and their redox properties were studied by temperature programmed reduction using both H2 and CO as probe molecules. Two cycles of oxidation/reduction were carried out in order to evaluate the effects of redox aging and gold sintering on the oxygen exchange capability. As observed with other noble metals, gold enhanced and promoted the ceria reduction at lower temperatures. Reduction by CO was shown to be dependent on the fine dispersion of gold and to be nega- tively affected by the ageing process more than reduction with hydrogen. This might have implications in reactions like water gas shift and CO-PROX which involve CO as a main reactant.

Earthquake distribution and lithospheric rheology beneath the Northwestern Andes, Colombia

The rheological behavior of the lithosphere beneath the Northwestern(NW)Andes(Colombian)remains uncertain under a complex geological ***,we analyze the earthquake distribution and the stress drop on the western and the eastern of the transition area between the Upper Magdalena Valley(UMV)and the Middle Magdalena Valley(MMV),a zone related to a plate tectonic transition from steeper to flatter subduction style slabs(Nazca and Caribbean plates).Our results consistently explain the tectonic and geodynamic context of the study area supported in two rheological profiles,which reveal the brittle/ductile transition of the lithospheric crust and mantle and allow to constrain the lithospheric rheological *** subduction phenomenon of the Nazca Plate under the South American Plate is observed in the western *** the eastern region,we find a remarkable aseismic zone under the Eastern Cordillera below 20-km-deep,which made more difficultan accurate estimation of the crust/mantle *** seismic particularity leads us to support the hypothesis of a delamination process due to the tectonic overload generated by the Eastern Cordillera,and that promotes thermal *** results also suggest that the earthquake dataset correlated with rheological estimations may offer a consistent interpretation of the mechanical behavior of the lithosphere.

Although the use of distinct colors to indicate unprofitability to predators(***)is commonly thought of as an adaptation,our knowledge of its macroevolutionary effects is *** aposematism is expected to decrease attacks by predators,we hypothesized that aposematic lineages should be larger on average than their non-aposematic sister groups because of the decreased probability of extinction and/or increased probability of speciation(*** diversification).The results of our sister-group analysis are consistent with the hypothesis that the evolution of aposematism is accompanied by increased diversification of lineages,with the aposematic focal group having more species in 11 of 14 pairs of sister *** the apparent advantages of reduced predation risk on diversification rates,the evolution of aposematism is relatively rare and reversions to a cryptic state are not *** addition to the difficulties in evolving a trait that initially decreases the survivorship of prey among naïve predators,we discuss other factors that may limit the apparent prevalence and success of *** is hoped that the results of our analysis will encourage further analyses of the phylogenetic relationships among aposematic groups and their relatives,and of the evolutionary time scales over which the benefits of aposematism are the greatest to lineages with this condition.

Background:Recently,Mullen et al.(2011)presented an 8-item version of the Physical Activity Enjoyment Scale(PACES)that provides a valid instrument for assessing enjoyment in physical *** present paper investigated the psychometric properties of a Portuguese adaptation of ***:After a process of back-to-back translation into Portuguese,395 members of fitness centers who ranged in age from 18 to 66 years(31.11§8.90,mean§SD)completed the translated version of the *** average,participants had 3.2 years of experience in fitness group classes and practiced for approximately 3.3 times per ***:An initial exploratory factor analysis(n=139)revealed a unidimensional structure with factor loadings ranging from 0.79 to *** also showed acceptable internal consistency.A confirmatory factor analysis in an independent sample(n=256)provided additional support for the unidimensional structure of the *** addition,moderate positive correlations between enjoyment and intrinsic and identified regulation,and moderate negative correlations between enjoyment and external and amotivation,demonstrate the convergent validity of the ***,measurement invariance between 2 independent samples was also ***:The 8-item Portuguese version of PACES is a valid and reliable instrument for measuring enjoyment of physical activity in Portuguese adult fitness exercisers,and it is therefore suitable to use as a measure of affect in exercise adherence interventions studies.

Microbiological assessment of street foods at the point of sale in Maputo(Mozambique)

Diagnostic tests for hepatitis C: Recent trends in electrochemical immunosensor and genosensor analysis

Hepatitis C is a liver disease that is transmitted through contact with the blood of an infected person. An estimated 150 million individuals worldwide have been chronically infected with the hepatitis C virus(HCV). Hepatitis C shows significant genetic variation in the global population, due to the high rate of viral RNA mutation. There are six variants of the virus(HCV genotypes 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6), with 15 recorded subtypes that vary in prevalence across different regions of the world. A variety of devices are used to diagnose hepatitis C, including HCV antibody test, HCV viral load test, HCV genotype test and liver biopsy. Rapid, inexpensive, sensitive, and robust analytical devices are therefore essential for effective diagnosis and monitoring of disease treatment. This review provides an overview of current electrochemical immunosensor and genosensortechnologies employed in HCV *** are a limited number of publications showing electrochemical biosensors being used for the detection of *** to their simplicity,specificity,and reliability,electrochemical biosensor devices have potential clinical applications in several viral infections.

Diurnal Variation in Relative Photosynthetic Performance of Marestail (Hippuris vulgaris Linn.) Across a Water Temperature Gradient using PAM Fluorometry in Jiuzhaigou National Nature Reserve,Sichuan Province,China

This paper reports the first photosynthetic study of marestail in Jiuzhaigou. In this work, we used PAM fluorometry to examine photosynthetic rates of submerged and emerged marestail in three lakes. Three lakes were studied across a gradient of water temperature, with low water temperature conditions in Grass Lake and Arrow Bamboo Lake, and higher water temperature in Five Colored Lake. In the field, electron transport rates （ETRmax） were measured as rapid light curves （RLCs） by in situ yield measurements. Submerged and emerged marestail showed higher photosynthetic activity in Five Colored Lake compared to the other lakes, a response consistent with the adaptation of marestail in Five Colored Lake to high water temperature. The optimal temperature for photosynthesis of submerged marestail in Jiuzhaigou was about 12 ~C. Non- photochemical quenching （NPQ） of submerged and emerged marestail increased with increasing water temperature. Maximum quantum yield （Fv/Fm） of submerged marestail in Five Colored Lake showed full recovery at 170o h due to higher NPQ. Further, the chlorophyll a for submerged marestail was the highestin Grass Lake and the lowest in Five Colored Lake. These results indicate that in different lakes the function of these aquatic plants is associated with a diversity of place-dependent environmental conditions, especially water temperature that leads to pronounced differences in the plant＇s ecophysiological reactions.

Chronic pain is sustained by a phenomenon of hyper-activation of nociceptive neurons both at peripheral(peripheral sensitization)and central(central sensitization)*** onset and maintenance of pain,however,is to be found in the interaction among the various cell populations in the nervous tissue including neurons and glia(Nam et al.,2016).The pathogenesis of neuropathic pain is extremely complex depending on the primary cause of nerve damage,*** nerve injury is associated with a robust inflammatory response while chemotherapy-induced pain is characterized by a modest phlogistic component(Di Cesare Mannelli et al.,2013).Despite these differences,a powerful common concept to explain the cellular mechanisms underlying pain is the activation of glia.
