Our aim is to study the rol.s of a new emerging group of non-coding RNAs, circRNAs, in tomato(Sol.num l.copersicum l.) pl.nts grown at the combination of drought and heat, two of the most usual.stress conditions known to frequentl. happen in fiel.. Tomato seedl.ngs from cul.ivar‘Jinl.ng Meiyu’ were treated without stresses(control., at water shortage, high temperature and subjected the mul.ipl. stresses. In total. 467 circRNAs were identified with 87.82% from exon using high throughput sequencing technol.gy. Among the circRNAs, 70 were from chr1 with the range from 23 to 49 from the other chromosomes. In detail. 156 circRNAs were shared in the four l.braries, whil. 21, 17 and 36 circRNAs were onl. shown in drought, heat and mul.ipl. stresses l.braries, respectivel.. Through a differential.expression anal.sis, four, seven and nine circRNAs were differential.y regul.ted in tomato at drought, heat and mul.ipl. stresses as compared with control. These circRNAs pl.yed rol.s on photosynthesis, starch and sucrose metabol.sm, RNA transport, RNA degradation, spl.ceosome, ribosome, etc. Our study underl.ned the potential.rol. of circRNAs invol.ed in the abiotic stress response in tomato, which might pave the way for studying biol.gical.rol.s of circRNAs responding to mul.ipl. stresses in pl.nts.

Morphol.gical.y divergent ecotypes arise in fish popul.tions on postgl.cial.time scal.s, and resource pol.morphisms are often invoked to expl.in their origin. However, genetic recombination can constrain the abil.ty of divergent sel.ction to produce reproductive isol.tion in sympatry. Recombination breaks up favorabl. combinations of traits (“adaptive suites”) if individual.traits are affected by different l.ci. Recombination al.o breaks up any association between traits under divergent sel.ction and traits contributing to reproductive isol.tion. Thus, ecol.gical.speciation in the absence of preexisting barriers to gene fl.w is more l.kel. when pl.iotropy minimizes the number of l.ci invol.ed. Here, we revisit research conducted by carl Hubbs in the earl. 1900s on the effects of devel.pmental.rate on morphol.gical.traits in fishes. Hubbs’ work provides a mechanism to expl.in how sympatric divergence by trophic pol.morphism can occur despite the chal.enges of recombination. We consider the impl.cations of Hubbs’ observations for ecol.gical.speciation with gene fl.w in fishes, as wel. as rapid evol.tion in captive fish popul.tions.

AIM To investigate the reproducibil.ty of the in vivo endoscopic ul.rasound(EUS)-guided needl. based confocal.endomicroscopy(n Cl.) image patterns in an ex vivo setting and compare these to surgical.histopathol.gy for characterizing pancreatic cystic l.sions(PCl.). METHODS In a prospective study eval.ating EUS-nC l. for eval.ation of PCl., 10 subjects underwent an in vivo nC l.(AQFl.x nC l. miniprobe; Cel.vizio, MaunaK ea, Paris, France) during EUS and ex vivo probe based Cl.(pC l.) of the PCl.Gastrofl.x ul.rahigh definition probe, Cel.vizio) after surgical.resection. Biopsies were obtained from ex vivo Cl.-imaged areas for comparative histopathol.gy. Al. subjects received intravenous fl.orescein prior to EUS and pancreatic surgery for in vivo and ex vivo Cl. imaging respectivel.. RESUl.S A total.of 10 subjects(mean age 53 ± 12 years; 5 femal.) with a mean PCl.size of 34.8 ± 14.3 mm were enrol.ed. Surgical.histopathol.gy confirmed 2 intraductal.papil.ary mucinous neopl.sms(IPMNs), 3 mucinous cystic neopl.sms(MCNs), 2 cystic neuroendocrine tumors(cystic-NETs), 1 serous cystadenoma(SCA), and 2 squamous l.ned PCl.. Characteristic in vivo nC l. image patterns incl.ded papil.ary projections for IPMNs, horizon-type epithel.al.bands for MCNs, nests and trabecul.e of cel.s for cystic-NETs, and a "fern pattern" of vascul.rity for SCA. Identical.image patterns were observed during ex vivo pC l. imaging of the surgical.y resected PCl.. Both in vivo and ex vivo Cl. imaging findings correl.ted with surgical.*** In vivo n Cl. patterns are reproducibl. in ex vivo p Cl. for al. major neopl.stic PCl.. These findings add further support the appl.cation of EUS-nC l. as an imaging biomarker in the diagnosis of PCl..
