The production of sand is a challenge for the drilling,well completion,and production process on poorly or unconsolidated reservoirs,the problems arise when the production of sand accumulates in the production pipes until the erosion of surface equipment,in the worst case can be collapse the borehole,the characteristics of this type of sands,lower elastic modulus,high permeability and porosity,make a complex field for the sand *** of that,the choice is the use normally can be Screen and Gravel Pack,Frac＆Pack,and use filter or slaves;but sometimes these treatments create mechanical *** this laboratory study,by consolidation of the sands through the injection of polymers,to create an annular space in the face area near the wellbore was simulated as a treatment for sand control for unconsolidated sandstones ***,the small artificial samples were tested after saturated with different proportions of epoxy *** through UCT improvements in the mechanical properties,and increase in compressive *** it was observed a positive skin factor due to the decrease of the permeability,to alleviate this near-wellbore damage,hydraulic fracturing was applied to generate a conductivity bypass with an extensive area of the formation and recover *** to evaluate well completion open hole by chemical injection,the samples of were prepared with different scales of quartz sand,illite,montmorillonite and water are mixed,according to the depth of typical unconsolidated sandstone reservoirs in the Bohai-China,the size of the samples is 100 mmxmm,while the permeability of the samples is either about 1000 m *** experimental results showed that the samples without resin were completely saturated by the fracturing fluid and there is not a fracture propagation,and the wall of the wellbore there is not a control for sanding premature,while the best result for the treatment was only successful in samples with a resin injection ratio

Acceptability of an adjunct equine-assisted activities and therapies program for veterans with posttraumatic stress disorder and/or traumatic brain injury

Objective: Equine-assisted activities and therapies(EAATs) have been a growing adjunctive integrative health modality, as they allow participants to practice mindfulness, emotional regulation, and self-mastery or self-esteem building skills. Preliminary evidence suggests that these programs may be helpful in reducing posttraumatic stress disorder(PTSD), anxiety, and depressive symptoms. The current study examines the acceptability of integrating an EAAT program as part of a two-week, intensive clinical program for veterans with PTSD and/or traumatic brain injury(TBI).methods: A family member or support person could accompany veterans and participate in the *** hundred and six participants(veteran n = 62, family n = 44) left the urban environment in an intensive outpatient program(IOP) to attend a two-day, weekend EAAT in rural New Hampshire. Satisfaction surveys were conducted on the last day of the program and examined using thematic ***: The following themes were reported in the surveys: ability of horses to catalyze emotional rehabilitation, effectiveness of immersion in equine-assisted activities, program’s ability to foster interpersonal relationships and necessity of education about PTSD for staff. Participants also reported enjoying the program as highlighted by qualitative feedback, a mean score of 9.76(standard deviation[SD] = 0.61) as reported by veterans and a mean score of 9.91(SD = 0.29) as reported by family members on a 10-point visual analog scale with higher scores indicating a greater overall ***: These data offer preliminary evidence that an adjunct EAAT program is acceptable for veterans with PTSD and/or TBI participating in an IOP.

Immediate and late effects of chronic stress in the testes of prepubertal and adult rats

The objective of this study was to investigate the effects of chronic stress on the testes of prepubertal and adult rats and to evaluate whether any alterations could be reversed when stress induction is ended. Seventy-six male rats were assigned to eight groups depending on the type of treatment （control or stressed）, the age at which stress was initiated （prepubertal or adult）, and the time of evaluation （immediate or late）. Stress stimuli were applied for 6 weeks. Stressed prepubertal and adult rats evaluated immediately after the last stress stimulus were included in SP-I and SA-I groups, respectively. The late prepubertal （SP-L） and adult （SA-L） groups of stressed rats were evaluated 6 weeks after the last stress stimulus. Age-matched rats were used as controls （CP-I, CA-I, CP-L, and CA-L groups）. Application of stress stimuli to rats in the SP-I group resulted in body weight and seminiferous tubule diameter reduction. The rats in the SA-I group also showed several functional （testosterone level and sperm parameter） and morphological （testicular weight and seminiferous tubule diameter） reductions. The rats in the SP-L group showed increased body weight and intertubular compartment volumetric and absolute densities and reduced tubular compartment volumetric density. The rats in the SA-L group presented only reduced sperm viability. Stress stimuli promoted changes in the rats in all the study groups. The testes of the adult rats were the most affected by chronic stress. However, the stressed adult rats recovered well from the testicular alterations.

The Taylor Energy Oil Spill:Time-series of PolSAR Data to Support Continuous and Effective Observation

In this study,a large time series of Terra SAR-X Stripmap co-polarized(HH-VV)Synthetic Aperture Radar(SAR)imagery collected over the Taylor Energy oil platform site in the Gulf of mexico is exploited to investigate this 13 year-long unconventional oil ***σCPDapproach is used to estimate the polluted area along *** addition,a sensitivity analysis is undertaken to point out the dependence ofσCPDto imaging(noise floor,incidence angle)and environment(sea state)*** results demonstrate thatσCPDcan be effectively used to monitor the Taylor Energy oil spill,estimating the polluted *** the TSX SAR data avail-ability most dense period(year 2013),a daily spill of about 2.2 km^(2) is observed in average,even though high variability(about 2.0 km^(2))is experienced due to the un-conventional characteristics of the spill.

Engineering of Yarrowia lipolytica for production of astaxanthin

Astaxanthin is a red-colored carotenoid,used as food and feed *** is mainly produced by chemical synthesis,however,the process is expensive and synthetic astaxanthin is not approved for human *** this study,we engineered the oleaginous yeast Yarrowia lipolytica for de novo production of astaxanthin by ***,we screened 12 different *** isolates for β-carotene production by introducing two genes for β-carotene biosynthesis:bi-functional phytoene synthase/lycopene cyclase(crtYB)and phytoene desaturase(crtI)from the red yeast Xanthophyllomyces *** best strain produced 31.1±0.5 mg/L β-***,we optimized the activities of 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-coenzyme A reductase(HmG1)and geranylgeranyl diphosphate synthase(GGS1/crtE)in the best producing strain and obtained 453.9±20.2 mg/L β-*** downregulation of the competing squalene synthase SQS1 increased the β-carotene titer to 797.1±57.2 mg/*** we introduced β-carotene ketolase(crtW)from Paracoccus sp.N81106 and hydroxylase(crtZ)from Pantoea ananatis to convert β-carotene into *** constructed strain accumulated 10.4±0.5 mg/L of astaxanthin but also accumulated astaxanthin biosynthesis intermediates,5.7±0.5 mg/L canthaxanthin,and 35.3±1.8 mg/L ***,we optimized the copy numbers of crtZ and crtW to obtain 3.5 mg/g DCW(54.6 mg/L)of astaxanthin in a microtiter plate *** study for the first time reports engineering of *** for the production of *** high astaxanthin content and titer obtained even in a small-scale cultivation demonstrates a strong potential for ***-based fermentation process for astaxanthin production.

Intraductal ultrasound substantiates diagnostics of bile duct strictures of uncertain etiology

Soil ecosystem changes by vegetation on old-field sites over five decades in the Brazilian Atlantic forest

Vegetation types alter soil ecosystems by changing soil fauna community activities and soil physi-cal-chemical ***,it is unclear how tree species(natural forest,native and exotic tree plantations)promote changes in the soil ecosystem,and if these changes alter functional groups of soil fauna and ecosystem *** determine the effects of five decades of old-field veg-etation on soil ecosystems in the Brazilian Atlantic Forest,field sampling of three ecosystems(exotic tree species Pinus elliottii ***,endangered tree species Arau-caria angustifolia(Bertol.)Kuntze plantation,and a natural ecosystem)were carried out,as well using bait-lamina tests and bioassays with collembolans,earthworms and seeds of Lactuca sativa *** sampling evaluated the soil fauna community and soil physical-chemical *** bait-lamina test in situ was carried out for 14-days to deter-mine fauna feeding activity,and the bioassays evaluated the reproduction of Folsomia candida,the avoidance of Eisenia andrei,and germination of *** in the soil from each *** results are:(1)vegetation type altered the soil fauna community composition;(2)soil fauna feeding was reduced in the plantations compared to the natural eco-system;(3)a physical barrier was created by recalcitrant litter that compromised fauna community structure and seed bank germination in situ;and,(4)changes in soil physical-chemical properties promoted decomposers.

Cartilage Decellularized ExtraCellular matrix(dECm)materials have shown promising cartilage regenera-tion capacity due to their chondrogenic ***,the limited retention of ECm components and the reduced integrity of functional ECm molecules during traditional decellularization processes im-pair the biomimicry of these *** current study aims to fabricate biomimetic materials con-taining decellularized cartilage particles that have an intact molecular structure and native composition as biomaterial inks and hydrogels for cartilage *** this,we established a novel two-fraction de-cellularization strategy for the preparation of reconstituted dECm(rdECm)particles by mixing the two-fraction components,as well as a one-fraction decellularization strategy for the preparation of biomimetic dECm(bdECm)*** acid-tyramine(THA)hydrogels containing rdECm or bdECm particles were produced and characterized via rheological test,swelling and stability evaluation,and compression *** results showed that our novel decellularization strategies preserved intact proteoglycans and collagen at a higher retention rate with adequate DNA removal compared to traditional methods of *** addition of rdECm or bdECm particles significantly increased the shear moduli of the THA bioinks while preserving their shear-thinning *** particle-embedded THA hydrogels also achieved long-term stability with a swelling ratio of 70%and high retention of glycosaminoglycans and collagen after long-term incubation,while rdECm particle-embedded THA hydrogels showed unsat-isfactory stability as self-standing *** to pure THA hydrogels,the addition of bdECm particles significantly enhanced the compression *** summary,our decellularization methods are successful in the retention of functional and intact cartilage components with high *** rdECm and bdECm particles can be supplemented in THA bioinks for biomimet
