Fractal and microscopic quantitative characterization of unclassified tailings flocs

A series of laboratory investigations are conducted to analyze the effect of flocculant type on the spatial morphology and microstructural characteristics of flocs during the flocculation and settling of *** flocculant types(i.e.,ZYZ,JYC-2,ZYD,and JYC-1)are considered in this *** fractal characteristics and internal structures of tailings flocs with different flocculant types and settlement heights are analyzed by conducting scanning electron microscopy and X-ray micro-computed tomography scanning experiments based on the fractal *** show that unclassified tailings flocs are irregular clusters with fractal characteristics,and the flocculation effect of the four flocculant types has the following trend:ZYZ>JYC-2>ZYD>*** size and average grayscale value of tailings flocs decrease with the increase in settlement *** average grayscale values at the top and bottom are 144 and 103,*** settlement height remarkably affects the pore distribution pattern,as reflected in the constructed three-dimensional pore model of tailings *** top part of flocs has relatively good penetration,whereas the bottom part of flocs has mostly dispersed *** number of pores increases exponentially with the increase in settlement *** contrast,the size of pores initially increases and subsequently decreases with the increase in settlement height.

Neuroendocrine neoplasm of the pancreas is a rare tumor with limited treatment *** such tumors,treatment for pancreatic neuroendocrine tumor(PanNET)G3 is the most ***(TMZ)is commonly used to treat ***,TMZ may cause tumor gene alkylation,which induces drug resistance and rapid disease ***,we present a case of a female who was diagnosed with PanNET G3 and achieved a partial response to toripalimab,an anti-programmed cell death-ligand 1(anti-PD-L1)monoclonal antibody,after multiple cycles of TMZ *** profiling revealed that compared with the patient’s samples collected at baseline,the postTMZ-treatment samples had markedly higher levels of tumor mutational burden(TMB)associated with characteristic alkylating mutational signature representing a positive correlation with favorable response to anti-PD-1 *** addition,we observed a germline truncating mutation of MUTYH(W156*)that was considered to be pathogenic and potentially conferred to genomic *** case suggests that anti-PD-1 therapy could be a treatment option for PanNET patients with increased TMB after TMZ-based treatment.

Chemerin Exacerbates Psoriasis by Stimulating Keratinocyte Proliferation and Cytokine Production

Objective Psoriasis is often combined with metabolic abnormalities,such as obesity and *** upregulation of chemerin,which is an essential protein produced primarily from white fat,is strongly correlated to the development of ***,there is no clarification on its exact function and mechanism in disease *** present study aims to determine its function and mechanism in disease *** The present study used a psoriasislike inflammatory cell model and imiquimod(IMQ)-induced mouse model to confirm whether chemerin is upregulated in psoriasis *** Chemerin enhanced the keratinocyte proliferation,inflammatory cytokine secretion,and activation of the MAPK signaling ***,the intraperitoneal injection of neutralizing anti-chemerin antibody(ChAb)diminished the epidermal proliferation and inflammation in the IMQ-induced mouse *** The present results indicate that chemerin promotes keratinocyte proliferation,and enhances the production of inflammatory cytokines,thereby aggravating the ***,chemerin can be a prospective target for the treatment of psoriasis.

GRACE time-variable gravity and its application to geoscience:Quantitative analysis of relevant literature

The Gravity Recovery and Climate Experiment(GRACE)is the most important gravity satellite to date in human *** its launch in 2002,GRACE time-varying gravity has had an unprecedented impact on earth science and has generated revolutionary *** of natural phenomena such as climate warming,glacial melting,sea level rise,and earthquakes,earth science research has become an increasingly popular discipline in recent *** article summarizes the importance of GRACE time-varying gravity,its application to geoscience,and its *** analyzed the historical development and current status of GRACE time-varying gravity as well as research hotspots by searching the literature in the core collection databases of the China National Knowledge Infrastructure and the Web of Science over the past 20 *** CiteSpace and VOSviewer software packages were applied with reference to the principle of literature *** investigation and analysis of characteristic indexes,such as the numbers of publications,co-occurrence of keywords,and co-citation of documents,uncovered the wide application and promotion of gravity satellites,especially GRACE time-varying gravity,in earth *** results showed that the number of publications addressing GRACE data and time-varying gravity theory is increasing annually and that the USA,China,and Germany are the main *** Chinese Academy of Sciences,the National Aeronautics and Space Administration of the United States,and the Helmholtz Association of German Research Centres rank among the top three institutions in the world in terms of producing the most publications on this *** found that GRACE time-varying gravity plays unique roles in measuring changes in terrestrial water storage changes,ice and snow melting and sea level changes,and(co)seismic gravity changes,as well as in promoting other disciplines.

Nusselt number correlation for turbulent heat transfer of helium-xenon gas mixtures

A gas-cooled nuclear reactor combined with a Brayton cycle shows promise as a technology for highpower space nuclear power ***,a helium-xenon gas mixture with a molecular weight of14.5-40.0 g/mol is adopted as the working fluid to reduce the mass and volume of the *** Prandtl number for helium-xenon mixtures with this recommended mixing ratio may be as low as *** the convective heat transfer is closely related to the Prandtl number,different heat transfer correlations are often needed for fluids with various Prandtl *** studies have established heat transfer correlations for fluids with medium-high Prandtl numbers(such as air and water)and extremely lowPrandtl fluids(such as liquid metals);however,these correlations cannot be directly recommended for such helium-xenon mixtures without *** study initially assessed the applicability of existing Nusselt number correlations,finding that the selected correlations are unsuitable for helium-xenon *** establish a more general heat transfer correlation,a theoretical derivation was conducted using the turbulent boundary layer *** simulations of turbulent heat transfer for helium-xenon mixtures were carried out using Ansys *** on simulated results,the parameters in the derived heat transfer correlation are *** is found that calculations using the new correlation were in good agreement with the experimental data,verifying its applicability to the turbulent heat transfer for helium-xenon *** effect of variable gas properties on turbulent heat transfer was also analyzed,and a modified heat transfer correlation with the temperature ratio was *** on the working conditions adopted in this study,the numerical error of the property-variable heat transfer correlation was almost within 10%.

Effects of cavitation on vortex-induced vibration of a flexible circular cylinder simulated by fluid-structure interaction method

To investigate the effects of the cavitation on the vortex-induced vibration,the flow and the vibration characteristics of a flexible circular cylinder in the non-cavitating and cavitating flows at Re=200 are simulated using a fluid-structure interaction(FSI)solver,developed in the OpenFOAM *** accuracy of the fluid-structure interaction solver is verified using the benchmark *** a freely vibrating circular cylinder,the characteristics of the vortex-induced vibration are determined at different frequency *** frequency lock-in is observed in both the cavitating flow and the non-cavitating flow,and the lock-in frequency range is larger in the cavitating flow with a smaller vibration *** the lock-in frequency range,due to the reduction of the fluid forces and the resonance effects at the dominant frequency,the vibration amplitude is decreased in the cavitating flow,as compared to the non-cavitating ***,the low-density vapor and the cavitation collapse weaken the constraints of the flow and the stability of the shedding vortices,respectively,making the flow around the circular cylinder more sensitive to the structural ***,the lock-in frequency range is larger in the cavitating flow.

An oscillating multiplier on Herz type spaces

In this paper, the boundedness of an oscillating multiplier mγ,β for different β on the Herz type spaces is obtained. This operator was initially studied by Wainger and FeffermanStein. Our results extend one of the main results in a paper by Xiaochun Li and Shanzhen Lu for the non-weighted case, if β is close to 1 or α is suitably large. For β ≥ 1, the results with no weights on the Herz type spaces are also new.

A simple and efficient criterion for ready screening of potential topological insulators

Topological materials are a new and rapidly expanding class of quantum matter. To date, identification of the topological nature of a given compound material demands specific determination of the appropriate topological invariant through detailed electronic structure calculations. Here we present an efficient criterion that allows ready screening of potential topological materials, using topological insulators as prototypical examples. The criterion is inherently tied to the band inversion induced by spin-orbit coupling,and is uniquely defined by a minimal number of two elemental physical properties of the constituent elements: the atomic number and Pauling electronegativity. The validity and predictive power of the criterion is demonstrated by rationalizing many known topological insulators and potential candidates in the tetradymite and half-Heusler families, and the underlying design principle is naturally also extendable to predictive discoveries of other classes of topological materials.

Acousto-optic modulation of photonic bound state in the continuum

Photonic bound states in the continuum(BICs)have recently been studied in various systems and have found wide applications in sensors,lasers,and *** BICs in photonic integrated circuits enables low-loss light guidance and routing in low-refractive-index waveguides on high-refractive-index substrates,which opens a new avenue for integrated photonics with functional single-crystal ***,we demonstrate high-quality integrated lithium niobate microcavities inside which the photonic BIC modes circulate and further modulate these BIC modes acoustooptically by using piezoelectrically actuated surface acoustic waves at microwave *** a high acoustooptic modulation frequency,the acousto-optic coupling is well situated in the resolved-sideband *** leads to coherent coupling between microwave and optical photons,which is exhibited by the observed electro-acoustooptically induced transparency and ***,our devices serve as a paradigm for manipulating and controlling photonic BICs on a chip,which will enable many other applications of photonic BICs in the areas of microwave photonics and quantum information processing.
