This paper examines the role and effectiveness of locacal institutions in the management of forest biodiversity in New Dabaga-Ulongambi Forest Reserve, Tanzania. Data were obtained through questionnaires, interviews, focus group discussions, participatory rural appraisal and field observations. The study revealed that the most remarkable local institutions connected to forest biodiversity management include： Village Natural Resources Man- agement Committee （92%）, tree nursery group （79.4%）, beekeep- ing groups （61.1%）, fish fanning （43.3%）, livestock rearing group （33.9%）. Main activities carried out by local institutions which directly contribute to the sustainability of forest reserve include： forest patrols, fire extinguish, preparation of fire breaks, plant- ing of trees along the forest boundaries, creation of awareness, arresting of forest defaulters, participation in income generation activities. For the purpose of realization that local communities are capable of managing forest biodiversity through their traditional institutions, the policy should provide tangible opportunity for local communities to meet their needs as they manage the forests.

AIM： To determine whether -1195 A→G and/or -765 G→C polymorphisms in Cyclooxygenase-2 CCoX-2） may have a risk modifying effect on the development of esophageal carcinoma in a Dutch Caucasian population. METHoDS： Two study groups were recruited, 252 patients with esophageal carcinoma and 240 healthy controls, matched for race, age, gender and recruiting area. DNA was isolated from whole blood and used for genotyping. PCR products were digested with restriction enzymes and products were analyzed by agarose gel electrophoresis. odds ratios （oR） and 95% confidence intervals （CI） were estimated. RESULTS： The distribution of the -1195A→G polymorphism was significantly different in esophageal cancer patients compared to controls. The -1195 GG genotype resulted in a higher risk of developing esophageal adenocarcinoma （oR = 3.85, 95% CI： 1.45-10.3） compared with the -1195AA genotype as a reference. The -765 G→C genotype distribution was not different between the two groups. The GG/ GG haplotype was present more often in esophageal adenocarcinoma patients than in controls （oR = 3.45, 95% CI： 1.24-9.58; with AG/AG as a reference）. The same trends were observed in patients with squamous cell carcinomas, however, the results did not reach statistical significance. CoNCLUSIoN： Presence of the CoX-2 -1195 GG genotype and of the GG/GG haplotype may result in a higher risk of developing esophageal carcinoma.

The order onygenales is classified in the class Eurotiomycetes of the subphylum *** in this order have classically been isolated from soil and dung,and two lineages contain causative agents of superficial,cutaneous and systemic infections in *** ecology and habitat choices of the species are driven mainly by the keratin and cellulose degradation *** present study aimed to investigate whether the ecological trends of the members of onygenales can be interpreted in an evolutionary sense,linking phylogenetic parameters with habitat preferences,to achieve polyphasic definitions of the main taxonomic *** processes were estimated by multiple gene genealogies and divergence time *** described families,namely,Arthrodermataceae,Ajellomycetaceae,Ascosphaeraceae,Eremascaceae,Gymnoascaceae,onygenaceae and Spiromastigoidaceae,were accepted in onygenales,and two new families,Malbrancheaceae and Neogymnomycetaceae,were introduced.A number of species could not be assigned to any of the defined *** study provides a revised overview of the main lines of taxonomy of onygenales,supported by multilocus analyses of ITS,LSU,TUB,TEF1,TEF3,RPB1,RPB2,and ribosomal protein 60S L10(L1)(RP60S)sequences,combined with available data on ecology,physiology,morphology,and genomics.

The family Ajellomycetaceae(onygenales)includes mammal-associated pathogens within the genera Blastomyces,Emmonsia,Histoplasma and Paracoccidioides,as well as the recently described genera,Emergomyces that causes disease in immunocompromised hosts,and Emmonsiellopsis,known only from *** further assess the phylogenetic relationships among and between members of these genera and several previously undescribed species,we sequenced and analyzed the DNA-directed RNA polymerase II(rPB2),translation elongation factor 3-a(TEF3),b-tubulin(TUB2),28S large subunit rDNA(LSU)and the internal transcribed spacer regions(ITS)in 68 strains,in addition to morphological and physiological *** better understand the thermal dimorphism among these fungi,the dynamic process of transformation from mycelial to yeast-like or adiaspore-like forms was also assessed over a range of temperatures(6–42C).Molecular data resolved the relationships and recognized five major well-supported lineages that correspond largely to the genus ***,typified by Emmonsia parva,is a synonym of Blastomyces that also accommodates Blastomyces helicus(formerly Emmonsia helica).Emmonsia crescens is phylogenetically distinct,and found closely related to a single strain from soil without known *** silverae,Emergomyces canadensis,Emergomyces europaeus and Emmonsia sola are newly *** all of the taxa are associated with human and animal *** crescens,*** and *** are prevalently associated with pulmonary disease in humans or *** helicus,***,Emergomyces africanus,***,***,*** and ***(formerly Emmonsia pasteuriana)are predominantly found in human hosts with immune disorders;no animal hosts are known for these species except ***.

背景与目的婴幼儿血管瘤具有快速增长及可能损毁容貌的特性，因此，应给予重视。本研究旨在探讨血管瘤的生长模式和残余病灶的危险因素。方法对1985—2000年间临床监护、未经任何治疗的血管瘤患儿进行随访调查研究。从病案资料中提取相关信息。访问患儿（或其家长）完成问卷调查表，请患儿到我们的门诊，对问卷调查表的相关内容进行讨论，并对患儿行体格检查。对血管瘤的各生长阶段情况进行记录，创建各生长阶段时问轴，如果有残余病灶，对其进行评估。结果共对97例患儿的137处血管瘤病灶进行评估。48％患儿有前期病变。8个月时瘤体尺寸达到最大。消退期平均在患儿2岁时开始，并于平均4岁时结束。69％患儿有残余病灶。表浅结节状血管瘤的残余病灶（74％）明显比深层血管瘤（25％）多（P〈0．001；优势率8．4；95％可信区间2．4～29．1）。97％患儿出现因感染、溃疡、出血未经治疗而产生的瘢痕。结论血管瘤残余病灶会引起表皮损伤。血管瘤的生长模式与形成残余病灶的危险因素问无关联。这一结论将有助于更详细地预知血管瘤的预后情况，并将有助于判别哪些患儿需要治疗，哪些不需要。
