Several previous studies have indicated that nest sanitation behavior is a general adaptation in altricial birds,with egg recog nition capacity evolvi ng as a specific response to in terspecific brood parasitism(IBP).However,a rece nt study suggested an alternative hypothesis,con cludi ng that con specific brood parasitism(CBP)selects for egg rejection in thrushes,with IBP as a *** the present study,we used a spectrophotometer to quantify egg coloration and egg mimicry and performed artificial parasitism experiments in the grey?backed thrush(Turdus hortulorum).We showed that individuals of this species rejected 100%of 12 foreign eggs,without IBP or CBP *** a review of previous studies,we also discuss possible explanations for the high egg rejection rate in the grey-backed thrush and suggest areas for future *** birds have evolved advaneed reproductive behavior to in crease the fitn ess of their offspring by buildi ng elaborate structures(i.e.,nests),in which they lay eggs and rear their nestlings(Hansell,2000).Bird nests not only provide a suitable place for nestling development,but also act as a concealed location for safety from ***,bird parents have evolved nest sanitation behavior to clean foreig n objects from their n ests,in eluding feces,eggshells,branches,and leaves,because they induce predation,facilitate microorganism growth,damage eggs,or hurt nestlings during brooding(Guigueno&Sealy,2012).Therefore,nest sanitation has evolved as a general behavior in altricial birds for distinguishing between egg-shaped and non-egg-shaped objects.

Rates of brood parasitism vary extensively among host species and populations of a single host species. In this study, we documented and compared parasitism rates of two sympatric hosts, the Oriental Reed Warbler （Acrocephalus orientalis） and the Reed Parrotbill （Paradoxornis heudei）, in three populations in China. We found that the Common Cuckoo （Cuculus canorus） is the only parasite using both the Oriental Reed Warbler and Reed Parrotbill as hosts, with a parasitism rate of 22.4%-34.3% and 0%-4.6%, respectively. The multiple parasitism rates were positively correlated with local parasitism rates across three geographic populations of Oriental Reed Warbler, which implies that higher pressure of parasitism lead to higher multiple parasitism rate. Furthermore, only one phenotype of cuckoo eggs was found in the nests of these two host species. Our results lead to two conclusions：（1） The Oriental Reed Warbler should be considered the major host of Common Cuckoo in our study sites; and （2） obligate parasitism on Oriental Reed Warbler by Common Cuckoo is specialized but flexible to some extent, i.e., using Reed Parrotbill as a secondary host. Further studies focusing on egg recognition and rejection behaviour of these two host species should be conducted to test our predictions.

Nowadays,force sensors play an important role in industrial production,electronic information,medical health,and many other ***-dimensional material-based filed effect transistor(2D-FET)sensors are competitive with nano-level size,lower power consumption,and accurate ***,few of them has the capability of impulse detection which is a path function,expressing the cumulative effect of the force on the particle over a period of *** we fabricated the flexible polymethyl methacrylate(PMMA)gate dielectric MoS_(2)-FET for force and impulse sensor *** systematically investigated the responses of the sensor to constant force and varying forces,and achieved the conversion factors of the drain current signals(I_(ds))to the detected impulse(I).The applied force was detected and recorded by I_(ds)with a low power consumption of~30 *** sensitivity of the device can reach~8000%and the 4×1 sensor array is able to detect and locate the normal force applied on ***,there was almost no performance loss for the device as left in the air for two months.

Diverse wrinkling patterns can occur on curved bilayer systems under differential growth or *** such systems,stress anisotropy is frequently encountered,and the coupling effect of curvature and stress anisotropy on the pattern evolution remains largely *** this study,we investigate the evolution of wrinkling patterns on a cylinder core-shell system with stress anisotropy leveraging both theoretical analysis and finite element *** buckling analysis has identified three distinct critical buckling modes regulated by the stress anisotropy,i.e.,axial sinusoidal mode,checkerboard mode,and circumferential sinusoidal *** finite element simulations,along with post-buckling analysis,reveal seven distinct evolutionary paths stemming from the three critical buckling *** present phase diagrams for both the critical buckling modes and their evolutionary paths,which are determined by dimensionless curvature and stress *** results not only expand the theoretical research on surface wrinkling of a core-shell soft cylinder but also introduce stress anisotropy as a significant parameter for regulating the wrinkling patterns and their evolutionary paths in curved bilayer *** revelation of a multitude of wrinkling patterns and their evolutionary pathways holds great potential for advancing applications that leverage tunable wrinkle surfaces.

Determining the orientation of in-situ stresses is crucial for various geoscience and engineering applications. Conventional methods for estimating these stress orientations often depend on focal mechanism solutions(FMSs) derived from earthquake data and formation micro-imager(FMI) data from well ***, these techniques can be costly, depth-inaccurate, and may lack spatial coverage. To address this issue, we introduce the use of three-dimensional(3D) seismic data(active sources) as a lateral constraint to approximate the 3D stress orientation field. Recognizing that both stress and fracture patterns are closely related to seismic velocity anisotropy, we derive the orientation of azimuthal anisotropy from multi-azimuth 3D seismic data to compensate for the lack of spatial stress orientation information. We apply our proposed workflow to a case study in the Weiyuan area of the Sichuan Basin, China, a region targeted for shale gas production. By integrating diverse datasets, including 3D seismic, earthquakes, and well logs, we develop a comprehensive 3D model of in-situ stress(orientations and magnitudes). Our results demonstrate that the estimated anisotropy orientations from 3D seismic data are consistent with the direction of maximum horizontal principal stress(SHmax) obtained from FMIs. We analyzed 12earthquakes(magnitude > 3) recorded between 2016 and 2020 for their FMSs and compressional axis(Paxis) orientations. The derived SHmax direction from our 3D stress model is 110°ES(East-South), which shows excellent agreement with the FMSs(within 3.96°). This close alignment validates the reliability and precision of our integrated method for predicting 3D SHmax orientations.

Carbon-based foams with a three-dimensional structure can serve as a lightweight template for the rational design and control-lable preparation of metal oxide/carbon-based composite microwave absorption *** this study,a flake-like nickel cobaltate/re-duced graphene oxide/melamine-derived carbon foam(FNC/RGO/MDCF)was successfully fabricated through a combination of solvo-thermal treatment and high-temperature *** indicated that RGO was evenly distributed in the MDCF skeleton,providing ef-fective support for the load growth of FNC on its *** S3,the FNC/RGO/MDCF composite prepared by solvothermal method for 16 h,exhibited a minimum reflection loss(RL_(min))of-66.44 dB at a thickness of 2.29 *** the thickness was reduced to 1.50 mm,the optimal effective absorption bandwidth was 3.84 *** of the absorption mechanism of FNC/RGO/MDCF revealed that its excellent absorption performance was primarily attributed to the combined effects of conduction loss,multiple reflection,scattering,in-terface polarization,and dipole polarization.

The formation of oligomeric hydrogen peroxide triggered by Criegee intermediate maybe contributes significantly to the formation and growth of secondary organic aerosol(SOA).However,to date,the reactivity of C2 Criegee intermediates(CH_(3)CHOO)in areas contaminated with acidic gas remains poorly ***,high-level quantum chemical calculations and Born-Oppenheimer molecular dynamics(BOMD)simulations are used to explore the reaction of CH_(3)CHOO and H_(2)SO_(4)both in the gas phase and at the airwater *** the gas phase,the addition reaction of CH_(3)CHOO with H_(2)SO_(4)to generate CH_(3)HC(OOH)OSO_(3)H(HPES)is near-barrierless,regardless of the presence of water *** simulations showthat the reaction at the air-water interface is even faster than that in the gas *** calculations reveal that the HPES has a tendency to aggregate with sulfuric acids,ammonias,and water molecules to form stable clusters,meanwhile the oligomerization reaction of CH_(3)CHOO with HPES in the gas phase is both thermochemically and kinetically ***,it is noted that the interfacial HPES−ion can attract H_(2)SO_(4),NH_(3),(COOH)_(2)and HNO_(3)for particle formation from the gas phase to the water ***,the results of this work not only elucidate the high atmospheric reactivity of C2 Criegee intermediates in polluted regions,but also deepen our understanding of the formation process of atmospheric SOA induced by Criegee intermediates.
