Spreadsheet quality assurance:a literature review

Spreadsheets are very common for information processing to support decision making by both professional developers and non-technical end ***,business intelligence and artificial intelligence are increasingly popular in the industry nowadays,where spreadsheets have been used as,or integrated into,intelligent or expert systems in various application ***,it has been repeatedly reported that faults often exist in operational spreadsheets,which could severely compromise the quality of conclusions and decisions based on the *** a view to systematically examining this problem via survey of existing work,we have conducted a comprehensive literature review on the quality issues and related techniques of spreadsheets over a 35.5-year period(from January 1987 to June 2022)for target journals and a 10.5-year period(from January 2012 to June 2022)for target *** other findings,two major ones are:(a)Spreadsheet quality is best addressed throughout the whole spreadsheet life cycle,rather than just focusing on a few specific stages of the life cycle.(b)Relatively more studies focus on spreadsheet testing and debugging(related to fault detection and removal)when compared with spreadsheet specification,modeling,and design(related to development).As prevention is better than cure,more research should be performed on the early stages of the spreadsheet life *** by our comprehensive review,we have identified the major research gaps as well as highlighted key research directions for future work in the area.

Surgical outcomes for unilateral superior oblique palsy in Chinese population: a retrospective study

AIM: To evaluate the outcome after surgery for unilateral superior oblique(SO) palsy in ***: The medical records of 39 patients that underwent surgery for unilateral SO palsy between January 2003 and December 2012 at Caritas Medical Centre, Hong Kong, were retrospectively reviewed. All surgeries were performed by a single surgeon. Pre-operative assessments for vertical deviation, cyclo-deviation, and Knapp’s classification were obtained to determine the nature and degree of surgical *** deviation was measured at 1wk; 1, 6mo and on last follow-up day post-operatively. Cyclo-deviation was measured on last follow-up day ***: During the 10 y period, 39 subjects were recruited. The most common etiology was congenital(94.9%). Knapp’s Type III(66.7%) and Type I(12.8%)classifications were the most common subtypes. To treat SO palsy, the most common surgical procedures were:isolated inferior oblique(IO) anteriorization(41.0%),isolated IO myectomy(10.3%), and isolated IO recession(10.3%). At 3.5 ±2.1y post-operatively, the vertical deviation was significantly reduced(15.1 ±6.2 PD versus0.5±1.4 PD, P cant improvement in cyclo-deviation(P =0.5). Initial vertical deviation was correlated with cyclo-torsion(r =0.4, P =0.007). Those with over-correction had greater initial vertical deviation(19.4±7.2 PD versus 13.2±4.3 PD, P =0.003). After a single operation, 84.6% of subjects achieved a vertical deviation within ±3 PD.· CONCLUSION: The majority of subjects achieved corrected vertical deviation after a single surgery although there was no improvement in *** with over-correction of primary position deviation had greater preoperative vertical deviation and it may be related to simultaneous multiple muscle surgery.

Second malignant neoplasms in childhood cancer survivors in a tertiary paediatric oncology centre in Hong Kong, China

Background Childhood cancer survivors were at risk of development of second malignant neoplasms. The aim of this study is to evaluate the incidence, risk factors and outcome of second malignant neoplasms in childhood cancer survivors in a tertiary paediatric oncology centre in Hong Kong, China. Methods We performed a retrospective review of patients with childhood cancer treated in Children＇s cancer Centre in Prince of Wales Hospital, Hong Kong, China between May 1984 and June 2009. Case records of patients who developed second malignant neoplasms were reviewed. Results Totally 1374 new cases aged less than 21-year old were treated in our centre in this 25-year study period. Twelve cases developed second malignant neoplasms with 10-year and 20-year cumulative incidence of 1.3% （95% confidence interval 0.3%-2.3%） and 2.9% （95% confidence interval 1.1%-4.7%） respectively. Another 4 cases were referred to us from other centres for the management of second malignant neoplasms. In this cohort of 16 children with second malignant neoplasms, the most frequent second malignant neoplasms were acute leukemia or myelodysplastic syndrome （n--6） and central nervous system tumor （n=4）. Median interval between diagnosis of primary and second malignant neoplasms was 7.4 years （range 2.1-13.3 years）. Eight patients developed second solid tumor within the previous irradiated field. Radiotherapy significantly increased the risk of development of second solid tumor in patients with acute lymphoblastic leukemia （P=0.027）. Seven out of 16 patients who developed second malignant neoplasms had a family histo＇ry of cancer among the first or second-degree relatives. Nine patients died of progression of second malignant neoplasms, mainly resulted from second central nervous system tumor and osteosarcoma. Conclusions Cumulative incidence of second cancer in our centre was comparable to western countries. Radiotherapy was associated with second solid tumour among patients with acute lymphoblast

BACKGROUND Cetuximab in combination with oral fluoropyrimidine(FP)remains controversial in metastatic colorectal cancer(mCRC).In view of the regional variation in the tolerability of FP,we conducted a retrospective analysis to compare oral FP with infusional FP in combination with cetuximab in Chinese *** To compare the efficacy and safety profile of cetuximab in combination with oral FP and infusional FP in Chinese population in the real-world *** A retrospective cohort study was done to analyse consecutive patients with Kras wild-type mCRC who received first-line treatment with cetuximab and FP-based chemotherapy in our unit from January 2010 to December ***-five eligible patients were *** median follow-up of our cohort was 65.0 *** The median progression-free survival(mPFS)and median overall survival(mOS)of the entire cohort were 9.66 mo(95%CI:7.72–12.5)and 25.8 mo(95%CI:18.7–35.6),*** oral FP and infusional FP,there was no statistical significant difference in the mPFS[9.79 mo(95%CI:7.49–12.7)vs 9.63 mo(95%CI:6.34–13.4);P=0.72]and mOS[25.8 mo(95%CI:15.2–35.6)vs 26.3 mo(95%CI:18.7–41.2);P=0.63].Grade 3 or above adverse events were reported in 28.4%of patients,being similar with oral and infusional FP,and included 10.5%of neutropenia and 2.1%of diarrhoea *** The current analysis demonstrates comparable efficacy and safety profiles of cetuximab in combination with oral and infusional FP in Chinese *** results expand treatment options for Chinese patients and invite revision of existing treatment guidelines to incorporate oral FP-based chemotherapy plus cetuximab.
