go/Mgo/Mg interface mediated strengthening and electromagnetic interference shielding in AZ31 composite

More requirements of electromagnetic interference(EMI) shielding performance are put forward for lightweight structural materials due to the development of aerospace and 5G communications. Herein, graphene oxide(go) decorated with SnO_(2) coating is introduced as reinforcement into AZ31 Mg alloy. During the smelting process, the Mgo layer is in situ gernerated at interface between go and the molten Mg alloy matrix by consuming SnO_(2). In the solid state, such kind of interface structure can improve the go-Mg interface bonding intensity,also significantly generate stacking faults. The AZ31 composite reinfoced by trace modified go(0.1 wt%) exhibits high ultimate strength and almost the same elongation with AZ31 alloy. compared with AZ31 alloy, the yield strength and ultimate tensile strength of composite are increased by 33.5% and 23.7%, respectively. Meanwhile, the multi-level electromagnetic reflection from the multi-layer structure of go and the interface polarization caused by the Mgo mid-layer can significantly improve EMI shielding performance. The appropriate interface design strategy achieves the effect of “two birds with one stone”.

cellulose nanocrystals isolated from water hyacinth fiber(WHF)have been studied as a reinforcement for polyvinyl alcohol(PVA)-gelatin *** composite design was used to study and optimize effects of the PVA,gelatin and cellulose nanocrystal(cNc)concentration on tensile strength and elongation of formed *** results of this study showed that WHF cNc had a diameter range of 20-50 nm produced films reaching 13.8 MPa tensile *** stability of the films was improved from 380℃ to 385℃ in addition of cNcs and maximum storage modulus of 3 GPa were observed when 5 wt%cNc was ***,water absorption,water vapour permeability(WVP)and moisture uptake of the films decreased in addition of cNc to the PVA-gelatin *** uptake decreased from 22.50%to 19.05%while the least WVP when 10 wt%cNc added was 1.64×10^(-6)g/(m·h·Pa).These results show possibility for industrial application of WHF cNc and PVA-gelatin blends in biodegradable films for on-the-go food wrappers.

Maintenance of wind turbine farms is a huge task,with associated significant risks and potential hazard to the safety and well-being of people who are responsible for carrying the tower inspection *** inspections are required for wind turbine tower to ensure that the wind turbines are in full working order,with no signs of potential ***,the development of an automated wind tower inspection system has been very cnucial for the overall performance of the renewable wind power generation *** order to determine the life span of the tower,an investigation of robot design is discussed in this *** presents how a mechanical spring-loaded climbing robot can be designed and constructed to climb and rotate 360°around the *** adjustable circular shape robot is designed that allows the device to fit in different diameters of the wind generator *** rotational module is designed to allow the wheels to rotate and be able to go in a circular *** design further incorporates a suspension that allows the robot to go through any *** paper also presents a finite element spring stress analy sis and Simulink control system model to find the optimal parameters that are required for the wind tower climbing robot.

An automated deep learning based pancreatic tumor diagnosis and classification model using computed tomography images

Purpose-The advancements of deep learning(DL)models demonstrate significant performance on accurate pancreatic tumor segmentation and ***/methodology/approach-The presented model involves different stages of operations,namely preprocessing,image segmentation,feature extraction and image ***,bilateral filtering(BF)technique is applied for image preprocessing to eradicate the noise present in the cT pancreatic ***,noninteractive Grabcut(NIGc)algorithm is applied for the image segmentation ***,residual network 152(ResNet152)model is utilized as a feature extractor to originate a valuable set of feature *** last,the red deer optimization algorithm(RDA)tuned backpropagation neural network(BPNN),called RDA-BPNN model,is employed as a classification model to determine the existence of pancreatic ***-The experimental results are validated in terms of different performance measures and a detailed comparative results analysis ensured the betterment of the RDA-BPNN model with the sensitivity of 98.54%,specificity of 98.46%,accuracy of 98.51% and F-score of 98.23%.Originality/value-The study also identifies several novel automated deep learning based approaches used by researchers to assess the performance of the RDA-BPNN model on benchmark dataset and analyze the results in terms of several measures.

Graphene oxide(go)induced enhancement of elastomer properties showed a great deal of potential in recent years,but it is still limited by the barrier of the complicated synthesis ***(SLA),used in fabrication of thermosets and very recently in“flexible”polymers with elastomeric properties,presents itself as simple and user-friendly method for integration of go into *** this work,it was first time demonstrated that go loadings can be incorporated into commercial flexible photopolymer resins to successfully fabricate go/elastomer nanocomposites via readily accessible,consumer-oriented SLA *** material properties of the resulting polymer was characterized and *** mechanical strength,stiffness,and the elongation of the resulting polymer decreased with the addition of *** thermal properties were also adversely affected upon the increase in the go content based on differential scanning calorimetry and thermogravimetric analysis *** was proposed that the go agglomerates within the 3D printed composites,can result in significant change in both mechanical and thermal properties of the resulting *** study demonstrated the possibility for the development of the go/elastomer nanocomposites after the optimization of the go/“Hexible”photoreactive resin formulation for SLA with suitable annealing process of the composite in future.

A model to determine soiling,shading and thermal losses from PV yield data

Apart from being a clean source of energy,photovoltaic(PV)power plants are also a source of income generation for its investors and ***,mitigation of system losses is crucial for economic operation of PV *** losses due to soiling,shading and temperature in PV plants go as high as 50%.Much of these losses are unaccounted initially,which can jeopardize the economic viability of PV *** paper aims to provide a model to determine losses due to soiling,shading and temperature using quantities like irradiance,cell temperature,Dc power and current,which are readily available in PV yield data captured by the remote monitoring system,without involving any additional sensors or *** this study,soiling,shading and thermal losses were calculated using PV yield data obtained from a 30-kWp PV plant located in Kharagpur,*** results showed soiling and shading losses as high as 25.7%and 9.7%,respectively,in the month of *** loss was verified by measuring transmittance loss of coupon glasses installed in the vicinity of the *** loss was verified by shadow simulation using an architectural tool(SketchUp).Array thermal loss obtained using the proposed methodology was found to be in line with the estimated value obtained from PVsyst ***,using time-series data,the energy losses corresponding to soiling,shading and temperature effects were calculated by a numerical-integration *** monetary loss due to these energy losses thus obtained provides criteria for deciding when to mitigate the sources of these losses.

The identification of jets originating from quarks and gluons,often referred to as quark/gluon tagging,plays an important role in various analyses performed at the Large Hadron collider,as Standard Model measurements and searches for new particles decaying to quarks often rely on suppressing a large gluon-induced *** paper describes the measurement of the efficiencies of quark/gluon taggers developed within the ATLAS collaboration,using √s=13 TeV proton–proton collision data with an integrated luminosity of 140 fb^(-1) collected by the ATLAS *** taggers with high performances in rejecting jets from gluon over jets from quarks are studied:one tagger is based on requirements on the number of inner-detector tracks associated with the jet,and the other combines several jet substructure observables using a boosted decision tree.A method is established to determine the quark/gluon fraction in data,by using quark/gluon-enriched subsamples defined by the jet *** in tagging efficiency between data and simulation are provided for jets with transverse momentum between 500 GeV and 2 TeV and for multiple tagger working points.

Lithium-ion batteries are today the power sources of choice far portable electronics, a multi-billion dollar market[1]. This outstanding success has spawned great international interest in applying this technology to more demanding systems, such as electric of hybrid vehicles[2]. However, to achieve full success in this area,new electrode materials, less expensive, more energetic and more compatible with the environment than the present ones, have to be identified. Accordingly, intense R&D are in progress to reach this goal and few variable alternatives to the original lithium-ion battery design, have been proposed. Particularly interesting is the olivine-structured LiFePO4 cathode developed by goodenough and co-workers[3], which offers several appealing features, such as high, flat voltage profile and relatively high specific capacity, combined with low cost and low toxicity. However, LiFePO4 has one crucial disadvantage, i.e. its inherently low electric conductivity which reflects in the inability to deliver high capacity at high discharge rates. Such as poor rate capability has been the object of investigation by various groups who have proposed different approaches to overcome it, including carbon coating[4], nano-fibril textures[5], optimized synthesis procedures[6] and foreign metal doping[7].

Letting go is Never Easy:Abscission and Receptor- Like Protein Kinases

Abscission is the process by which plants discard organs in response to environmental cues/stressors, or as part of their normal development. Abscission has been studied throughout the history of the plant sciences and in numerous species. Although long studied at the anatomical and physiological levels, abscission has only been elucidated at the molecular and genetic levels within the last two decades, primarily with the use of the model plant Arabidopsis thaliana. This has led to the discovery of numerous genes involved at all steps of abscission, including key pathways involving receptor-like protein kinases （RLKs）. This review covers the current knowledge of abscission research, highlighting the role of RLKs.
