By binding to multiple antigens simultaneously,multispecific antibodies are expected to substantially improve both the activity and long-term efficacy of antibody-based *** cell engagers,a subclass of antibody-based constructs,consist of engineered structures designed to bridge immune effector cells to their target,thereby redirecting the immune response toward the tumor cells or infected *** increasing number of recent clinical trials evaluating immune cell engagers reflects the important role of these molecules in new therapeutic approaches for cancer and *** this review,we discuss how different immune cell types(T and natural killer lymphocytes,as well as myeloid cells)can be bound by immune cell engagers in immunotherapy for cancer and infectious ***,we explore the preclinical and clinical advancements of these constructs,and we discuss the challenges in translating the current knowledge from cancer to the virology ***,we speculate on the promising future directions that immune cell engagers may take in cancer treatment and antiviral therapy.

The research of new porous materials for applications in interfacial processes is key to addressing global energy and sustainability *** example,porous materials can be used to store fuels such as hydrogen or methane or to separate chemical mixtures reducing the energy currently required by thermal separation *** catalytic properties can be exploited to convert adsorbed molecules into valuable or less hazardous chemicals,thereby reducing energy consumption or pollutants *** boron nitride(BN)has appeared as a promising material for applications in molecular separations,gas storage,and catalysis owing to its high surface area and thermal stability,as well as its tunable physical properties and ***,the production of porous BN is still limited to the laboratory scale,and its formation mechanism,as well as ways to control porosity and chemistry,are yet to be fully *** addition,studies have pointed toward the instability of porous BN materials when exposed to humidity,which could significantly impact performance in industrial *** on porous BN performance and recyclability when employed in adsorption,gas storage,and catalysis remain limited,despite encouraging preliminary ***,porous BN powder must be shaped into macrostructures(e.g.,pellets)to be used ***,common methods to shape porous materials into macrostructures often cause a reduction in the surface area and/or mechanical *** recent years,research groups,including ours,have started addressing the challenges discussed ***,we summarize our collective findings through a selection of key ***,we discuss the chemistry and structure of BN,clarifying confusion around terminology and discussing the hydrolytic instability of the material in relation to its structure and *** demonstrate a way to reduce the instability in water while still maintaining high specific surface *** propose

Second-harmonic generation allows for coherently bridging distant regions of the optical spectrum,with applications ranging from laser technology to self-referencing of frequency ***,accessing the nonlinear response of a medium typically requires high-power bulk sources,specific nonlinear crystals,and complex optical setups,hindering the path toward large-scale *** we address all of these issues by engineering a chip-scale second-harmonic(SH)source based on the frequency doubling of a semiconductor laser self-injection-locked to a silicon nitride *** injection-locking mechanism,combined with a high-Q microresonator,results in an ultra-narrow intrinsic linewidth at the fundamental harmonic frequency as small as 41 *** to the extreme resonant field enhancement,quasi-phase-matched second-order nonlinearity is photoinduced through the coherent photogalvanic effect and the high coherence is mapped on the generated SH *** show how such optical poling technique can be engineered to provide efficient SH generation across the whole C and l telecom bands,in a reconfigurable fashion,overcoming the need for poling *** device operates with milliwatt-level pumping and outputs SH power exceeding 2 mW,for an efficiency as high as 280%/W under electrical *** findings suggest that standalone,highly-coherent,and efficient SH sources can be integrated in current silicon nitride photonics,unlocking the potential of x(2)processes in the next generation of integrated photonic devices.

Previous observations of cannibalism have been made in the aphid Acyrthosiphon pisum （l.）： this article seeks to quantify factors contributing to such be- haviors. We observed and quantified the responses of a number of clones and life stages to varying levels of starvation, in the form of increasingly desiccated Vicafaba l. plants （receiving 50, 25, or 10 ml every second day） or a complete absence of host plant. We found that, while the longest incidences of cannibalism are carried out by juveniles （F = 3.45, P = 0.019, df = 3） and targeted at adults, the starvation treatments had the most significant effect on the prevalence of cannibalism in mature A. pisum （F ---- 2.24, P = 0.025, df = 9）. Furthermore, there was no difference between the prevalence or dura- tion of cannibalistic activities within and between different clones （P 〉 0.05 in all cases）, though juveniles were more likely to target unrelated aphids （V = 6 112, P = 0.011）, and spent more time feeding on aphids from the same culture （V = 6 062, P = 0.018）.

Semi-intensive free-range farm systems are common in Australia, and these systems frequently practise on-range feeding. The objective of this study was to investigate the benefit of on-range choice feeding on flock performance, egg quality, and range use of free-range laying hens using black soldier fly larvae(Hermetia illucens, BSF). A total of 160 mature ISA brown laying hens, previously determined to range daily, were allocated to a control group(control) or a treatment group(BSF) with various replicates depending on the parameter investigated. All hens were fed ad libitum indoors with a wheat-soy based diet formulated according to breed requirements. Black soldier fly hens were offered dried BSF larvae ad libitum on the range. Body weight, feed intake, BSF intake, egg production, feed conversion ratio, internal and external egg quality parameters, and individual range use using radio-frequency identification(RFID)technology was evaluated. Black soldier fly hens consumed on average 15 ± 1.7 g BSF larvae/hen per *** were no differences between BSF and control hens for any of the performance parameters obtained(P > 0.05). Egg weight, shell weight, and shell thickness of eggs from BSF hens were significantly lower(P = 0.003, P = 0.001, and P = 0.004, respectively) than those of eggs from control hens. Egg yolk colour was significantly paler in eggs from BSF hens(P l hens were observed(P > 0.05) except for BSF hens showing longer total maximum time for a single visit to the range(P = 0.011). In conclusion, the average intake of BSF larvae indicated a good level of acceptance. Feed formulation should be adjusted for the intake of the choice fed source. The impact of choice-feeding on range use was minor.

Rain-induced fruit cracking is a major problem in sweet cherry *** research has been conducted to disentangle the physiological and mechanistic bases of this complex phenomenon,whereas genetic studies have lagged *** objective of this work was to disentangle the genetic determinism of rain-induced fruit *** hypothesized that a large genetic variation would be revealed,by visual field observations conducted on mapping populations derived from well-contrasted cultivars for cracking *** populations were evaluated over 7–8 years by estimating the proportion of cracked fruits for each genotype at maturity,at three different areas of the sweet cherry fruit:pistillar end,stem end,and fruit *** original approach was adopted to integrate,within simple linear models,covariates potentially related to cracking,such as rainfall accumulation before harvest,fruit weight,and *** found the first stable quantitative trait loci(QTls)for cherry fruit cracking,explaining percentages of phenotypic variance above 20%,for each of these three types of cracking tolerance,in different linkage groups,confirming the high complexity of this *** these and other QTls,further analyses suggested the existence of at least two-linked QTls in each linkage group,some of which showed confidence intervals close to 5 *** promising results open the possibility of developing marker-assisted selection strategies to select cracking-tolerant sweet cherry *** studies are needed to confirm the stability of the reported QTls over different genetic backgrounds and environments and to narrow down the QTl confidence intervals,allowing the exploration of underlying candidate genes.
