Female Futsal Players’ Profile and Biochemical Alterations through Intermittent High-Intensity Exercise Training

The aim of the study was to determine the physical, physiological and nutritionalcharacteristics of female futsal players and selected markers of oxidative stress after their exercise training (Loughborough Intermittent shuttle Test). Eight health female futsal players (age 21.3 ± 3.2 years, body mass 64.5 ± 5.6 kg, height 169.5 ± 6.5 cm, body mass index 22.45 ± 2.25 kg/m2;mean ± sD) participated in this study. Blood samples were collected before, during and immediately after the exercise for glucose, lactate, ascorbic acid, total plasma antioxidant potential, lipid hydroperoxides, malondialdehyde and creatine kinase concentrations. Female futsal players appeared to meet caloric needs but failed to meet minimum carbohydrate and vitamin A, c and E recommendations. Immediately after the exercise there were an increase in lipid hydroperoxides (ranging from 9.32 ± 1.86 μmol?L–1 to 13.02 ± 1.62 μmol?L–1, p –11 to 3.29 ± 0.62 nmol?L–1, p –1 to 185.59 ± 6.96 U.I..L–1, p scorbic acid and total plasma antioxidant potential had a slight decrease during and after exercise. considering that alterations in oxidative stress parameters associated with inadequate ingestion of nutrients can affect health and performance of game players, further studies are needed to evalu- ate the inclusion of an nutritional education program and extent of biochemical changes through athlete’s recovery pe- riod.

The three main components of the media layer of the aorta are elastic fibers,collagen fibers and smooth muscle cells(sMc).[1]This layer’s elastic properties are major determinants of its biomechanics in health and disease states.[2,3]Age-related changes in such elastic properties are associated with altered hemodynamic parameters,such as systolic hypertension,[4,5]and end-organ damage,[6,7]and are thought to result from changes of its main components.

Objective:The present study investigated antiglycation and antioxidant activities of crude dry extract and saponin fraction of Tribulus *** also developed a method of microencapsulation and evaluated antiglycation and antioxidant activities of crude dry extract and saponin fraction before and after microcapsule ***:Antiglycation activity was determined by relative electrophoretic mobility(REM),free amino groups and inhibition of advanced glycation end-product(AGE)*** activity was determined by 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl(DPPH),ferric ion-reducing antioxidant power(FRAP),nitric oxide(NO)and thiobarbituric acid reactive species(TBARs)*** were prepared using maltodextrin as wall material and freeze-drying as encapsulation *** characterization of microcapsules was evaluated by scanning electron microscopy,and encapsulation efficiency and microcapsule release were determined by total saponins *** and antioxidant assays were performed using crude dry extract and saponin fraction of *** before and after ***:saponin fraction showed an increase of 32.8%total ***-performance liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry analysis showed the presence of saponins in the obtained *** evaluation by REM demonstrated that samples before and after release presented antiglycation activity similar to bovine serum albumin treated with ***,samples inhibited AGE formation,highlighting treatment with saponin fraction after release(89.89%).Antioxidant tests demonstrated antioxidant activity of the *** dry extract before encapsulation presented the highest activities in DPPH(92.00%)and TBARs(32.49%)*** fraction before encapsulation in FRAP test(499μmol Trolox equivalent per gram of dry sample)and NO test(15.13μmol nitrite formed per gram of extract)presented the highest ***:This study presen

A puff model for the dispersion of material from fugitive hazardous emissions is presented. For vertical diffusion the model is based on general techniques for solving time dependent advection-diffusion equation: the ADMM (Advection Diffusion Multilayer Method) and GILTT (Generalized Integral Laplace Transform Technique) techniques. Both approaches accept wind and eddy diffusion coefficients with any restriction in their height functions. comparisons between values predicted by the models against experimental ground-level concentrations (from copenhagen data set) are shown. The preliminary results confirm the applicability of the approaches proposed and are promising for future work.

Broadband waveguiding through light-emitting strips directly written in a blank lithium fluoride crystal with a femtosecond laser is reported. Light guiding was observed at several optical wavelengths, from blue, 458 nm, to near-infrared, at 155nm. Visible photoluminescence spectra of the optically active F2 and F33 color centers produced by the fs laser writing process were measured. The wavelength-dependent refractive index increase was estimated to be in the order of 10-3-10-4 in the visible and near-infrared spectral intervals, which is consistent with the stable formation of point defects in LiF.

A comparison between a non-Gaussian puff model and an advanced time-dependent model to simulate the pollutant dispersion in the Planetary Boundary Layer is presented. The puff model is based on a general technique for solving the K-equation, using the truncated Gram-charlier expansion (type A) of the concentration field and finite set equations for the corresponding moments. The other model (named ADMM: Analytical Dispersion Multilayers Model) is an semi- analytical solution to the time-dependent two-dimensional advection-diffusion equation based on a discretization of the PBL in N sub-layers;in each sub-layers the advection-diffusion equation is solved by the Laplace transform technique, considering an average value for eddy diffusivity and the wind speed. A preliminary performance evaluation is shown in the case of continuous emission from an elevated source in a variable boundary layer. Both models were able to correctly reproduce the concentration field measured and so to be used as operative air pollution models.

What is the value of eucalyptus monocultures for the biodiversity of the Atlantic forest? A multitaxa study in southern Bahia, Brazil

Eucalyptus plantations are increasing in Brazil, frequently replacing pastures, but there is still scarce information about its capacity to maintain the fauna of neighbor forest remnants. In this study, we compared descriptors of the communities of leaf litter organisms （lizards, anurans, myriapods, arachnids, orthopterans, coleopterans, and ants） between a large remnant of primary Atlantic Forest and an adjacent eucalyptus monoculture （phase 1）. Then, we compared the same descriptors for leaf litter lizards and anurans, Euglossini bees, and frugivorous butterflies among the largest remnant, small remnants at intermediate regeneration stage, and eucalyptus monocultures that were not adjacent to the largest remnant （phase 2）. Monocultures were sampled immediately before logging. In phase 1, we detected significant differences in structure between the forest and the monoculture in six out of seven communities sampled. ca. 81% of the species of the landscape were recorded in the forest, but only 54% of these were found also in the monoculture. In phase 2, the structure of two out of four forest communities was significantly different from the structure of small remnants and monocultures. On average, 76% of the species found in the whole landscape were sampled in the forest. Out of this subset, on average 74% of the species were also sampled in small remnants and 68% in monocultures. Findings of the present study point out a moderate capacity of eucalyptus monocultures to harbor species of the forest fauna even when fully grown but highlights the opportunity that they might offer for increasing connectivity in anthropogenic forest landscapes depending on their management.
