AIM:To assess the prognostic value and risk classification improvement of metabolic staging(MS)with Initial2-[18F]-fluoro-2-desoxy-D-glucose positron emission tomography(FDg-PET)in initial staging of Hodgkin’s Lymphoma(HL)patients to predict 5 years overall survival(5y-OS)and event free survival(EFS).METHODS:A total of 275 patients were included in this retrospective study,155 patients were staged with conventional anatomical staging(AS),and 120 also submitted to MS(FDg-PET).Prognostic analysis compared 5y-OS and 5y-EFS of patients staged with AS and ***-adjusted models incorporated clinical risk factors,computed tomography and FDg-PET ***:During the follow up of 267 evaluated patients,220(122 AS and 98 MS)achieved complete remission after first-line therapy(median follow-up:70±29 mo),treatment failure occurred in 79 patients and 34 *** 5y-EFS for early vs advanced disease in AS patients was 79.3%and 66.7%,and 85.6%and53.6%in MS patients,respectively(Pced disease with AS was91.3%and 81.5%,and 97.5%and 80.7%for patients staged with MS,*** proportional hazards analysis demonstrated that FDg-PET added signifcant prognostic information and improved risk prediction(P=0.02).cONcLUSION:Initial staging FDg-PET could be used as an accurate and independent predictor of OS and EFS in HL,with impact in 5y-EFS and OS.

Background: The protective role of (poly)phenols against metabolic disorders has been extensively studied in adults but not in ***: To assess associations of dietary (poly)phenols and their subclasses with cardiometabolic health parameters in adolescents. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted in 944 individuals aged 11 to 14 years enrolled in the SI! Program for Secondary Schools trial (NcT03504059). (Poly)phenol intake was assessed using semi-quantitative food frequency questionnaires and the Phenol-Explorer database. The measured cardiometabolic parameters were waist circumference (Wc) age-sex z-score， blood pressure (BP) age-sex z-score， blood glucose (Bg)， triglycerides (Tg)， and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-c). Multilevel mixed-effect linear regression models were applied to examine the association between (poly)phenol quintiles and cardiometabolic health ***: compared to the lowest quintile， adolescents in the highest quintile of total (poly)phenol intake had lower Wc z-scores (β=-0.09， 95%cI=-0.09;-0.08， P-for trend=0.002)， mean arterial pressure z-scores (β =-0.11， 95%cI=-0.12;-0.09， P-for trend=0.206)， and HDL-c (β=-1.52， 95%cI=-2.90;-0.14， P-for trend=0.108)， after multivariable adjustment. The Wc z-scores (β=-0.11， 95%cI=-0.19;-0.03， P-for trend=0.013) and HDL-c (β=-2.16， 95%cI=-3.78;-0.53， P-for trend=0.046) were lower in the highest quintile of flavonoid intake compared to the lowest quintile. Aqueous Two-Phase Systems Applied to Partition Proteins from goat Milk Whey In-Nature

The proteins coming from the milk whey have numerous functional properties. Among the proteins with high bioactivity, α-lactoalbumin (α-La) and β-lactoglobulin (β-Lg) are present in large quantities in the milk whey. In the separation process of proteins, it is important to choose techniques which besides ensuring purity and high yield will not affect the molecule biological activity. The aqueous two-phase systems (ATS) have been utilized with success in the partition of these proteins, however, the studies were performed using protein in its pure form. Studies using milk whey in-nature and goat milk whey have not been found yet. In this context, the objective of this study was to evaluate the liquid liquid equilibrium of aqueous two-phase systems (ATS) in the partition of α-La and β-Lg from goat milk whey in-nature. Equilibrium data were performed considering ATS comprised of polyethylene glycol, potassium phosphate and water at 25°c and pH 7.0. The influence of the polymer molecular weight and amount of goat milk whey in-nature on the partition coefficient of these proteins were assessed. The partition coefficient, selectivity, process yield and purity of α-lactoalbumin and β-lactoglobulin proteins were determined. The results showed that the separation technique by aqueous biphasic systems is applicable indicating high efficiency in the whey proteins separation process.

Different risk factors influence peptic ulcer disease development in a Brazilian population

AIM: To investigate age, sex, histopathology and Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) status, as risk factors for gastroduodenal disease outcome in Brazilian dyspeptic *** submitted to upper gastroscopy at Hospital das clinicas of Marilia, antral biopsy specimens were obtained and subjected to histopathology and H. pylori diagnosis. All patients presenting chronic gastritis (cg) and peptic ulcer (PU) disease localized in the stomach, gastric ulcer (gU) and/or duodenal ulcer (DU) were included in the study. gastric biopsies (n = 668) positive for H. pylori by rapid urease test were investigated for vacuolating cytotoxin A (vacA ) medium (m) region mosaicism by polymerase chain reaction. Logistic regression analysis was performed to verify the association of age, sex, histopathologic alterations, H. pylori diagnosis and vacA m region mosaicism with the incidence of DU, gU and cg in patients. RESULTS: Of 1466 patients submitted to endoscopy, 1060 (72.3%) presented cg [male/female = 506/554; mean age (year) ± SD = 51.2 ± 17.81], 88 (6.0%) presented DU [male/female = 54/34; mean age (year) ± SD = 51.4 ± 17.14], and 75 (5.1%) presented gU [male/female = 54/21; mean age (year) ± SD = 51.3 ± 17.12] and were included in the comparative analysis. Sex and age showed no detectable effect on cg incidence (overall c 2 = 2.1, P = 0.3423). PNPLA3 and TM6SF2 polymorphisms in Brazilian patients with nonalcoholic fatty liver disease

This study sets out a scheme for a controlled release delivery system using SBA-16 as a carrier matrix and Rutin as a drug (Rutin-SBA-16). Physicochemical characterizations were performed to confirm the structure of the SBA-16 for post-synthesis by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) and X-ray Diffraction (XRD). The presence of Rutin-SBA-16 was confirmed by Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and Nitrogen adsorption-desorption isotherms at 77 K. The dissolution kinetics was evaluated by the Zero Order, First Order and Higuchi models, and Rutin quantification was carried out by High Performance Liquid chromatography (HPLc). The best impregnation time, which was 8 hours, adsorbing 284 μg Rutin per mg of silica, and the maximum degree of dissolution occurred in a period of 20 - 25 h. The release kinetics of the Rutin was called Higuchi, and showed high linearity, with a correlation coefficient (R2) of 0.999 compared with 0.905 and 0.980 of the zero order and first order models respectively. The study shows the benefits of Rutin-SBA-16 as a drug delivery system.
