Optically targeted electrochemical cell microscopy(OTECCM)was applied to measure electrocatalytic rates at individual Cu nanoparticles(Nps)under electrolyte conditions relevant to CO_(2) *** electrocatalytic responses from individual Nps were found to exhibit a wide variation in behavior,with significant Np-to-Np variations in the magnitude of electrocata-lytic currents and necessary overpotentials being *** of these quantities with metrics of Np size suggest no significant variations in the inherent electrocatalytic activity of the Nps with *** element simulations of diffusion in this system demonstrate the observed diffusion-limited currents are significantly smaller than expected,attributable to the presence of a significant amount of residual ligand on the surface of the Cu Nps,which were prepared via an organic phase *** results presented here further demonstrate the promise of techniques which employ correlated optical and electrochemical measurements,such as OTECCM,for studying electrocatalysis at individual Nps.

Over the past three decades, obsessive-compulsive disorder(OCD) has moved from an almost untreatable,life-long psychiatric disorder to a highly manageable one. This is a very welcome change to the 1%-3% of children and adults with this disorder as, thanks to advances in both pharmacological and psychological therapies, prognosis for those afflicted with OCD is quite good in the long term, even though most have comorbid disorders that are also problematic. We still have far to go, however, until OCD can be described as either easily treatable or the effective treatments are widely known about among clinicians. This review focuses on the current state of the art in treatment for OCD and where we still are coming up short in our work as a scientific community. For example, while the impact of medications is quite strong for adults in reducing OCD symptoms, current drugs are only somewhat effective for children. In addition, there are unacceptably high relapse rates across both populations when treated with pharmacological alone. Even in the cognitive-behavioral treatments, which show higher effect sizes and lower relapse rates than drug therapies, drop-out rates are at a quarter of those who begin treatment. This means a sizable portion of the OCD population who do obtain effective treatments(which appears to be only a portion of the overall population) are not effectively *** for future avenues of research are also presented. These are primarily focused on(1) increased dissemination of effective therapies;(2) augmentation of treatments for those with residual symptoms, both for psychotherapy and pharmacotherapy; and(3) the impact of comorbid disorders on treatment outcome.

Incessant fire-outbreak in urban settlements has remained intractable especially in developing countries like Nigeria. This is often characterized by grave socio-economic aftermath effects. Urban fire outbreak in Nigerian cities has been on increase in recent times. The major problem faced by fire fighters in Nigerian urban centres is that there are no mechanisms to detect fire outbreaks early enough to save lives and properties. They often rely on calls made by neighbours or occupants when an outbreak occurs and this accounts for the delay in fighting fire outbreaks. This work uses Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) with backpropagation method to detect the occurrence of urban fires. The method uses smoke density, room temperature and cooking gas concentration as inputs. The work was implemented using Java programming language and results showed that it detected the occurrence of urban fires with reasonable accuracy. The work is recommended for use to minimize the effect of urban fire outbreak.

Tampering of biometric data has attracted a great deal of attention recently. Furthermore, there could be an intentional or accidental use of a particular biometric sample instead of another for a particular application. Therefore, there exists a need to propose a method to detect data tampering, as well as differentiate biometric samples in cases of intentional or accidental use for a different application. In this paper, fingerprint image tampering is studied. Furthermore, optically acquired fingerprints, synthetically generated fingerprints and contact-less acquired fingerprints are studied for separation purposes using the Benford’s law divergence metric. Benford’s law has shown in literature to be very effective in detecting tampering of natural images. In this paper, the Benford’s law features with support vector machine are proposed for the detection of malicious tampering of JpEG fingerprint images. This method is aimed at protecting against insider attackers and hackers. This proposed method detected tampering effectively, with Equal Error Rate (EER) of 2.08%. Again, the experimental results illustrate that, optically acquired fingerprints, synthetically generated fingerprints and contact-less acquired fingerprints can be separated by the proposed method effectively.

Through the research on the existing C-MANTEC neural network and pID control technology, this paper presents an improved C-MANTEC algorithm based on pID control system. The combining of the artificial neural networks with conventional pID control helps in exploring their respective advantages to forming the intelligent pID control. From UCI Repository cancer dataset, the developed system is tested. The results show that the scheme can not only improve the speed of the algorithm in the training process but also improve the generalization capability of the network, which further enhances the performance of pID controllers. The overall power consumed is also reduced to a greater extent.

根据档案记录,古巴与美国在超过50年的时间里面都没有太多的政治与经济往来。这种紧张的关系导致了古巴在冷战结束之后就一直孤立于美国霸权的经济体系之外。美国用来保持当下经济体系所采用的工具之一就是国际货币组织(IMF)。很出乎意料的是,古巴原来也是国际货币组织中的一员,但是在1964年的时候古巴退出了这个组织.根据一些资料记录,古巴退出的主要原因就是因为当时古巴对美国缺少信任,并且也和当时古巴与“反美”的苏维埃联盟(苏联)的关系密切相关。但是我们还是应该去探究更多,去探索为什么直到现在古巴依旧不是国际货币组织的成员之一。国际货币组织常常因为它所秉承的新自由主义政策而遭到批评。新自由主义政策通常意味着要分散并扰乱国内市场经济。但新自由主义者们认为,市场自身可以调节自己,政府机关不需要进行过多干预。国际货币组织用这些理念制定政策通过提供贷款,帮助其发展等方式来帮助那些经济上有困难的国家。但是这些贷款都是有条件的。国际货币组织会要求其成员削弱本国政府对市场的控制,让其市场可以自由地生长发展。我会讨论这个概念是怎样完全与古巴领导管理国家的理念背道而驰。卡斯特罗家族认为:国际货币组织的政策在帮助发展中国家这方面做的很糟糕,而且这也让发展中国家去服从以及依赖国际货币组织。(Seilijos,7)我的调查研究基于以下几个原因。第一,这是一个从不同视角看待的一个主题,最明显的线索是美国与古巴在冷战前后的关系。在超过50年的时间里,人们都没有停止过讨论这个内容,但是现在我要通过国际货币组织的角度看待这个问题。因为国际货币组织的指导方针表明了没有任何一个国家可以阻止另外一个国家加入,所以探索究竟是什么因素导致古巴现在还没有成为国际货币组织的一员将具有巨大意义。其中包含古巴本国的原因,比如古巴的领导们不想让本国的经济制度被操控在一个50年来的敌人手里面,或者是因为古巴国内市场都是被政府所管制和拥有;其中也有历史的因素:由于遭受了严苛的经济制裁,古巴有超过50年没有与美国及其经贸机构进行往来。但是最重要的原因是国际货币组织中所蕴含的新自由主义策略对像古巴这样的发展中国家来讲并不适合用来发展经济。古巴的领导们也同样意识到了国际货币组织对于其他发展中国家用以发展经济的结果并不令人满意。(p119)在50年的时间里,美国对古巴都在实施经济封锁,这导致古巴加入了美国的首要对手——苏维埃联盟(苏联),从而拒绝美国的援助以及干涉。古巴领导人责备美国一直鼓吹并施压导致了卡斯特罗政体的瓦解,甚至是展开暗杀计划。古巴被放在了资金恐怖主义的名单上,两国之间的贸易被终止,美国还鼓励其他国家与古巴断绝交往关系。因此,古巴将所有抨击古巴政府以及卡斯特罗政权的人或是美国政策的支持者关押起来,并且击落了美国游客的飞机,收回了美国公司在古巴的所有权。一些美国国会成员支持要实施拖住古巴经济发展的政策,直到古巴沦陷,卡斯特罗政权垮台。最近的新闻报道,古巴现任总统劳尔·卡斯特罗(Raul Castro)表示对古巴衰落经济体的现状有改革的想法。他提到,国际货币组织会对古巴经济的增长起到很大的帮助作用。古巴的主要问题之一就是它的双重货币系统,这些货币没有一个统一、可行的管理的兑换率,这就导致了货币制度的不平衡以及无效性。这个问题需要得到有效的解决,否则本国经济就无法稳定,也无法吸引更多的国际投资考虑古巴。那么,到底是什么阻止了古巴成为国际货币组织的一员?第一章:国际货币组织的要求在这个章节中,我会详细叙述国际货币组织以及他们影响发展中国家经济发展的途径。在这里对国际货币组织如何对待其他不是该组织主要成员国盟友的国家需要加以论述。国际货币组织声称欢迎任何国家加入该组织,然而一旦一个国家选择加入了国际货币组织,就必须支付与他们国家成比例的会费。这个对于古巴来说可能有点困难,但也不是最主要的阻碍。学者们指出国际货币组织所倡导的是以市场为主的新自由主义思想(peet107),这就假定了国际市场的运行是可预测的,并且所有问题都可以运用相关理论来解决。但这是一个大问题,因为决策者并不总是公平公正的,他们倾向于引领成员国去效仿他们自认为是成功的政策。国际货币组织的批评者们认为,国际货币组织相信他们对成员国特别是对发展中国家的政策指引是有效的,国际货币组织认为在特定的相同的形势下,它所秉承的标准政策通用于所有国家,不会去解决某个国家的具体问题。很多成员国接受了贷款以及国际货币组织的政策建议,已经做出了经济上的改变,但究竟是否能够真正带来经济好转尚有待观察。但是有研究表明,一些成员国仍然需要国际货币组织提供的援助,而这或许恰恰就是那些国际货币组织领导人们想要的结果,因为这样其他成员国就会不断地向它寻求援助。因为现在这些成员国是负有对国际货币组织的债务,因此他们也必须遵循国际货币组织制定的规则。许多政策变动要求其成
