Impairment of autophagy promotes human conjunctival fibrosis and pterygium occurrence via enhancing the SQSTM1-NF-κB signaling pathway

Pterygium is a common ocular disease with a high recurrence rate,characterized by hyperplasia of subconjunctival fibrovascular ***,an important process to maintain cellular homeostasis,participates in the pathogenic fibrosis of different ***,the exact role of autophagy in pterygium pathogenesis remains ***,we found that autophagic activity was decreased in human pterygium tissues compared with adjacent normal conjunctival *** in vitro model of fibrosis was successfully established using human primary conjunctival fibroblasts(ConFB)treated with transforming growth factor-β1(TGF-β1),evidenced by increased fibrotic level and strong proliferative and invasive *** autophagic activity was suppressed during TGF-β1-or ultraviolet-induced fibrosis of *** autophagy dramatically retarded the fibrotic progress of ConFB,while blocking autophagy exacerbated this ***,SQSTM1,the main cargo receptor of selective autophagy,was found to significantly promote the fibrosis of ConFB through activating the PKCι-NF-κB signaling *** of SQSTM1,PKCι,or p65 in ConFB delayed TGF-β1-induced *** of SQSTM1 drastically abrogated the inhibitory effect of rapamycin or serum starvation on TGF-β1-induced ***,our data suggested that autophagy impairment of human ConFB facilitates fibrosis via activating the SQSTM1-PKCι-NF-κB signaling *** work was contributory to elucidating the mechanism of autophagy underlying pterygium occurrence.

Synthesis, characterization, thermodynamic and kinetic investigations on uranium(Ⅵ) adsorption using organic-inorganic composites: Zirconyl-molybdopyrophosphate-tributyl phosphate

Zirconyl-molybdopyrophosphate-tributyl phosphate （ZMPP-TBP） was a novel organic-inorganic composite adsorbent prepared by co-precipitation method and used in the adsorption of uranium from aqueous solution in batch adsorption experiments The as-obtained product was characterized using SEM, energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy （EDX）, XRD and BET-N2 ad- sorption measurements. The study had been conducted to investigate the effects of solution pH, temperature, contact time, ini- tial concentration and coexisting ions. A maximum removal of 99.31% was observed for an initial concentration 5 mg/L, at pH 6.0 and an adsorbent dose of 1.0 g/L. The isothermal data were fitted with both Langmuir and Freundlich equations, but the data fitted the former better than the latter. According to the evaluation using the Langmuir equation, the maximum adsorption capacity of uranium （VI） was 196.08 mg/g at 293 K and pH 6.0. The pseudo-first-order kinetic model and pseudo-second-order kinetic model were used to describe the kinetic data, and the pseudo-second-order kinetic model was better. The thermody- namic parameter AG was calculated, the negative AG values of uranium （VI） at different temperature showed that the adsorption process was spontaneous. The good reusability of ZMPP-TBP also indicated that the ZMPP-TBP was a very promising adsorbent for uranium adsorption from aqueous solution.

Constructing heterojunctions and hollow multi-shelled structures can render materials with fascinating physicochemical properties,and have been regarded as two promising strategies to overcome the severe shuttling and sluggish kinetics of polysulfide in lithium-sulfur(Li-S)***,a single strategy can only take limited *** catalytic hosts with synergistic effects are urgently ***,Mn_(3)O_(4)-MnS heterogeneous multi-shelled hollow spheres are meticulously designed by controlled sulfuration of Mn2O3 hollow spheres,and then applied as advanced encapsulation hosts for Li-S *** from the separated spatial confinement by hollow multi-shelled structure,ample exposed active sites and built-in electric field by heterogeneous interface,and synergistic effects between Mn_(3)O_(4)(strong adsorption)and MnS(fast conversion)components,the assembled battery achieves prominent rate capability and decent cyclability(0.016%decay per cycle at 2 C,1000 cycles).More crucially,satisfactory areal capacity reaches up to 7.1 mAh cm^(-2)even with high sulfur loading(8.0 mg cm^(-2))and lean electrolyte(E/S=4.0 pL mg^(-1))*** work will provide inspiration for the rational design of hollow multi-shelled heterostructure for various electrocatalysis applications.

An Elastic Shell Model for the Human Tricuspid Valve

The human tricuspid valve, one of the key cardiac structures, plays an important role in the circulatory system. However, there are few mathematical models to accurately simulate *** this paper, firstly, we consider the tricuspid valve as an elastic shell with a specific shape and establish its novel geometric model. Concretely, the anterior, the posterior and the septal leaflets of the valve are supposed to be portions of the union of two interfacing semi-elliptic cylindrical shells when they are fully ***, we use Koiter's linear shell model to describe the tricuspid valve leaflets in the static case, and provide a numerical scheme for this elastostatics model. Specifically, we discretize the space variable, i.e., the two tangent components of the displacement are discretized by using conforming finite elements(linear triangles) and the normal component of the displacement is discretized by using conforming Hsieh-Clough-Tocher triangles(HCT triangles).Finally, we make numerical experiments for the tricuspid valve and analyze the outcome. The numerical results show that the proposed mathematical model describes well the human tricuspid valve subjected to applied forces.

Comparative Analysis of Epidemiological Features of HIV/AIDS Cases Aged Over and Under 50 Years Old—China,2010-2022

Introduction:Recent data indicate a year-on-year increase in the proportion of human immunodeficiency virus/acquired immunodeficiency syndrome(HIV/AIDS)cases reported among individuals aged≥50 in *** study compares the epidemiological characteristics of HIV/AIDS cases in populations above and below 50 years of *** doing so,it seeks to scrutinize the current epidemiological landscape of HIV within these distinct age cohorts and suggest tailored interventions for each ***:We utilized data from the Chinese HIV/AIDS Comprehensive Response Information Management System for our comparative *** regression analysis was employed to assess the trends in standardized detection ***:In China,the number of newly reported HIV/AIDS cases in the 15-49 age group increased from 51,436 in 2010 to 55,397 in 2022,while it increased from 11,751 in 2010 to 51,856 in 2022 in the group aged≥50 *** years have seen a greater proportion and detection rate of HIV/AIDS cases among the≥50 age demographic compared to the 15-49 age *** 2022,significant statistical differences were observed between males and females in both age cohorts with respect to education,marital status,occupation,mode of transmission,location of diagnosis,and ***:The observed trend of a rising proportion of HIV/AIDS cases in individuals aged 50 years and older necessitates heightened *** is imperative that we develop and implement interventions specifically designed to prevent and control the transmission of HIV within this demographic.

Cryptococcosis in patients with liver cirrhosis:Death risk factors and predictive value of prognostic models
