Genetic susceptibility to metabolic associated fatty liver disease(MAFLD)is complex and poorly *** characterization of the genetic background of hepatic fat content would provide insights into disease etiology and causality of risk *** performed genome-wide association study(GWAS)on two noninvasive definitions of hepatic fat content:magnetic resonance imaging proton density fat fraction(MRI-PDFF)in 16,050 participants and fatty liver index(FLI)in 388,701 participants from the United Kingdom(UK)Biobank(UKBB).Heritability,genetic overlap,and similarity between hepatic fat content phenotypes were analyzed,and replicated in 10,398 participants from the University Medical Center Groningen(UMCG)Genetics Lifelines Initiative(UGLI).Meta-analysis of GWASs of MRI-PDFF in UKBB revealed five statistically significant loci,including two novel genomic loci harboring CREB3L1(rs72910057-T,P=5.40E−09)and GCM1(rs1491489378-T,P=3.16E−09),respectively,as well as three previously reported loci:PNPLA3,TM6SF2,and *** of FLI in UKBB identified 196 genome-wide significant loci,of which 49 were replicated in UGLI,with top signals in ZPR1(P=3.35E−13)and FTO(P=2.11E−09).Statistically significant genetic correlation(rg)between MRI-PDFF(UKBB)and FLI(UGLI)GWAS results was found(rg=0.5276,P=1.45E−03).Novel MRI-PDFF genetic signals(CREB3L1 and GCM1)were replicated in the FLI *** identified two novel genes for MRI-PDFF and 49 replicable loci for *** a difference in hepatic fat content assessment between MRI-PDFF and FLI,a substantial similar genetic architecture was *** is identified as an easy and reliable approach to study hepatic fat content at the population level.

Ground cover management and farmyard manure effects on soil nitrogen dynamics, productivity and economics of organically grown lettuce (Lactuca sativa L. subsp, secalina)

Ground cover management and farmyard manure （FYM） management have important roles in organic lettuce production. However, there is not enough information about their combined effects. In order to assess the effects of individual and combined ground cover and FYM management on soil mineral N （NH4-N and NO3-N） dynamics, lettuce yield and economics in organic farming, a two-year field experiment was conducted on a certified organic farm in Kisa6 （Vojvodina, Serbia）. The experiment had a two-factorial split-plot completely randomized block design. FYM was applied on the half of the experimental field as a whole-plot factor, while ground cover management included the following four treatments：（I） control, without ground cover management （0）; （11） hoeing （H）; （111） agrotextile cover; （IV） straw mulch （SM）, which were applied on split plots. The applied SM and AT increased soil moisture by 12.83 and 3.73%, respectively, compared to the control treatment. FYM increased soil mineral N concentration, the lettuce fresh matter （FM） yield and nitrate concentration in lettuce. However, nitrate concentration in lettuce in all treatments was below the limit required by the European Commission （EC）（2001）. The highest lettuce yield was obtained by AT （39 122 kg）, followed by SM （33 925 kg）, and it was higher with FYM application by 16.85%. Hoeing did not positively affect the yield, probably due to its negative effect on soil moisture. Additional profit was higher with FYM, showing the following decreasing order： AT〉H〉SM〉Ф. However, value/cost ratio （VCR） was in the order Ф〉H〉SM〉AT on FYM fertilized plots. FYM application led to higher lettuce yield and higher profit and VCR. In case a farm does not have FYM, SM is the best alternative due to its positive effect on the yield and low investment costs. Development of Sensor Oriented Dynamic Rotor Model as the Basis of Machine Diagnostics

Today, digital signal processing based on new microprocessor technology allows for successful machine protection and is acceptably cost-effective. Furthermore, by means of vibration-diagnostics monitoring of machines assisted by analytical methods it is possible to monitor and quantify dynamic parameters of a machine. By means of the analysis of dynamic behavior of rotor, it is possible to diagnose and solve the defects relating to rotor and other parts of machine. Recently, vibrations analysis and monitoring have become the most widespread method of machine diagnostics. Detection, identification and elimination of problems related to machine work can be simplified by modeling some dynamics solutions. The paper presents a mathematical model of elastic rotor with concentrated weight designed for the purpose of detecting defects with the help of vibrations measured by sensors based in bearings. Experimental results from test tables of the world＇s leading company, Bentley Nevada Co. USA, were used as the basis for development of this model. Accordingly, mathematical model for most of the cases was based on radial oscillation of rotor while torsion oscillations were used as the basis in some cases. Torsion vibrations cannot be detected without special sensors even at their highest magnitudes. Reliability of this model and accuracy of vibrodiagnostic analysis has been experimentally confirmed when applied on machines in operation.

Force Distribution Model of Motor Units of Leg Extensor Muscles

The paper aims to defme the lawfulness （model）, by which one can reliably estimate the distribution of motor units＇ force from the moment when leg extensor muscles start to generate the force until the moment when the maximal level is achieved. The study included 110 participants. To assess the contractile characteristics of leg extensors, standardized equipment and standardized isometric test in sitting position with the angle of the knee joint of 125° were used. The participants were instructed to exert their maximal force as quickly as possible. Using descriptive statistics, cluster analysis and fitting the exponential model of the distribution of force of leg extensor motor units in the whole range of force generation is defined. The model has the following form： y = 0.2051e3.3855x, where y is the motor units force expressed in daN （decanewtons）, x is the time expressed in s （seconds）. It provides an understanding of the control of multivariate motor unit recruitment and distribution of their force during sports movements as well as training programming for the adoption of forms for conlrolling force distribution of motor units, the development of their maximum force and their involvement speed.

Lamb's head: The model for novice education in endoscopic sinus surgery

Structured training in endonasal endoscopic sinus surgery(EESS) and skull base surgery is essential considering serious potential complications. We have developed a detailed concept on training these surgical skills on the lamb's head. This simple and extremely cheap model offers the possibility of training even more demanding and advanced procedures in human endonasal endoscopic surgery such as: frontal sinus surgery, orbital decompression, cerebrospinal fluid-leak repair followed also by the naso-septal flap, etc. Unfortunately, the sphenoid sinus surgery cannot be practiced since quadrupeds do not have this sinus. Still, despite this anatomical limitation, it seems that the lamb's head can be very useful even for the surgeons already practicing EESS, but in a limited edition because of a lack of the experience and dexterity. Only after gaining the essential surgical skills of this demanding field it makes sense to go for the expensive trainings on the human cadaveric model.
