Hearing loss and tinnitus associated with COVID-19 vaccines:An analysis from the national pharmacovigilance database in Malaysia

Objective:To compare the reporting pattern of hearing loss and tinnitus across different vaccines brands used in Malaysia(BnT162b2,CoronaVac,ChAdOx1,***2-S and BBIBP-CorV).Methods:This retrospective study included all reports of hearing loss and tinnitus occurring after COVID-19 vaccination that were received in the national pharmacovigilance database,QUEST,from February 24,2021 through July 31,*** given causality consistent or indeterminate were ***:There were 21 cases of hearing loss,with overall reporting rate of 0.29 cases per million *** rate was similar across BnT162b2,CoronaVac and *** tinnitus,35 cases were reported,with the overall reporting rate of 0.49 cases per million doses,and the highest rate was reported for *** both events,most cases aged 30 to 49 *** gender disparity was *** events were mainly reported to have occurred after the primary doses,with a median time-to-onset of two *** were no statistically significant differences in the reporting patterns for both events across BnT162b2,CoronaVac and ChAdOx1 by age group,gender,race,and dose ***:Despite the low reporting rates and insufficient evidence to confirm its relationship,hearing loss and tinnitus following vaccinations should not be ignored due to its disabling potential and impact on one’s quality of *** reporting is encouraged for better signal characterization in the future.

A vanishing theorem is proved for e-adic cohomology with compact support on an affine (singular) complete intersection. As an application, it is shown that for an affine complete intersection defined over a finite field of q elements, the reciprocal "poles" of the zeta function are always divisible by q as algebraic integers. A p-adic proof is also given, which leads to further q-divisibiliy of the poles or equivalently an improvement of the polar part of the AxKatz theorem for an affine complete intersection. similar results hold for a projective complete intersection.

OBJECTIVE:To investigate the possible antinociceptive effects of Salvia(S.)miltiorrhiza Bunge and its single components in monosodium urate(MSU)-induced pain model in mice and lipopolysaccharide(LPS)-induced inflammation model in RAW264.7 ***:Pretreatment of *** Bunge extract(from 1 to 50μg/mL)concentration-dependently attenuated LPS-induced nitric oxide(nO)*** extract of *** Bunge(50 or 100 mg/kg)also caused reversals of decreased threshold for pain in the MSU-treated group as measured by Von-Frey ***,we assessed the antinociceptive and anti-inflammatory properties of the active single components from *** Bunge such as 15,16-dihydrotanshinoneⅠ,tanshinoneⅠ,cryptotanshinone,miltirone,tanshinoneⅡA,and salvianolic acid *** of them showed an anti-inflammatory effect in LPS-induced nO release model and an antinociceptive effect in MSU-treated pain ***:Our results suggest that *** Bunge extract may exert anti-inflammatory effect by reducing LPS-induced nO release and an antinociceptive property in MSU-treated pain ***,tanshinoneⅡA,miltirone,cryptotanshinone,and 15,16-dihydrotanshinoneⅠ,not only appear to be responsible for LPS-induced nO release induced by *** Bunge,but also in the production of *** Bunge extract-induced antinociception in MSU-treated pain ***:Therefore,the analgesic and anti-inflammatory property of *** Bunge indicate it as a therapeutic potential candidate for the treatment of pain and inflammation.

casting defects that are closely related to entrapped air bubbles and metallic oxides occur very frequently in the sand mold casting process. Many researchers have shown that these defects can be reduced by adopting an appropriate gating system design. However, it is difficult for field engineers to identify a specific gating system that is more appropriate for their products. In this study, we tried to draw a comparison between two gating system designs with and without a ceramic foam filter. The ceramic foam filter was added to the horizontal runner just after the down sprue to prevent air bubble generation and reduce turbulence without a change of gating system design. The water modeling experiment was conducted with four different amounts of the initial volumes of water in the reservoir to verify the effects of initial pouring velocity. The results of the experiment applying the filter showed remarkably changed flow characteristics. The use of the filter was found to convert the flow pattern of water in the desired direction. The ceramic foam filter performed well to reduce flow velocity and stabilize the water *** flow pattern without a filter can be improved significantly even with the the use of just a 10 PPI irregular filter. Although the study confirmed that use of the filter may change the flow characteristics, it needs to be noted that the use of the ceramic filter alone cannot solve all the problems caused by a poorly designed gating system.

The peptide fraction of Bothrops jararaca snake venom induces toxicological effects on the male reproductive system after local envenomation in mice

In the flight process, the disturbances such as vibrations and frictions affect the stability accuracy of the servo loop of the inertial platform. Besides, the model uncertainties exist due to the couplings of the three subsystem of the inertial platform. This paper presents a sliding mode controller based on a proportional integral （PI） disturbance observer. The state variables and disturbing torque are estimated accurately by the PI observer. Additionally, an integral sliding mode controller is designed. The vibration and stability error are reduced by employing the integral items of the states in designing the sliding mode surface. The simulation results show that the proposed methods can improve the control precision of the servo loop of the platform.

Bothrops envenomation is complex and provokes prominent local tissue damage and systemic disturbances,but little is known about their effects on the male reproductive *** intratesticular injection,the bioactive peptide fraction(Bj-PF)obtained from Bothrops jararaca snake venom changes the structure of different stages of the seminiferous epithelium cycle in adult *** the first time,we investigated whether local envenomation of Bj-PF induces toxicological effects on the male reproductive system,particularly on the seminiferous epithelium and Sertoli *** adult mice were treated with 0.24 ***^(-1) by intramuscular(i.m.)injection for 24 *** testes samples were collected for morphological and morphometric *** toxicological effects of Bj-PF were also analyzed on mitochondrial metabolism and nitrite(nO2)production in 15P-1 Sertoli cell ***-PF changed the structure and function of the seminiferous epithelium,particularly the disruption of the epithelium and the presence of degenerated germ cells in the adluminal compartment,but there were no alterations in the basal ***-PF increased the thickness of the seminiferous epithelium and decreased the lumen diameter of the *** histological assessment of the degree of tubule degeneration revealed that Bj-PF also increased the number of hypospermatogenic tubules compared to ***-PF reduced nO2 levels in 15P-1 Sertoli cells without changing the mitochondrial ***,the fact that Bj-PF alters the structure and function of the seminiferous epithelium suggests that bioactive peptides found in *** snake venom can have toxicological effects on the reproductive systems of affected male mice,providing new insight into the biological characteristics of snake venom and therapeutic strategies for envenomation inflammation.

Genome-wide association study(GWAS)is effective in identifying favorable alleles for traits of interest with high mapping resolution in crop *** this study,we conducted GWAS to explore quantitative trait loci(QTL)for eight fruit traits using 162 tomato accessions with diverse genetic *** eight traits included fruit weight,fruit width,fruit height,fruit shape index,pericarp thickness,locule number,fruit firmness,and *** variations of these traits in the tomato collection were evaluated with three replicates in field trials over three *** filtered 34,550 confident SnPs from the 51K Axiom®tomato array based onng data and>5%of minor allele frequency for association *** 162 tomato accessions were divided into seven clusters and their membership coefficients were used to account for population structure along with a kinship *** identify marker-trait associations(MTAs),four phenotypic data sets representing each of three years and combined were independently analyzed in the multilocus mixed model(MLMM).A total of 30 significant MTAs was detected over data sets for eight fruit traits at Pnumber of MTA per trait ranged from one(brix)to seven(fruit weight and fruit width).Two SnP markers on chromosomes 1 and 2 were significantly associated with multiple traits,suggesting pleiotropic effects of ***,16 of 30 MTAs suggest potential novel QTL for eight fruit *** results facilitate genetic dissection of tomato fruit traits and provide a useful resource to develop molecular tools for improving fruit traits via marker-assisted selection and genomic selection in tomato breeding programs.
