The use of mobile laser scanning to survey forest ecosystems is a promising,scalable technology to describe forest 3D structures at high *** confirm the con-sistency in the retrieval of forest structural parameters using hand-held laser scanning(HLS),before operationalizing the method,confirming the data is *** analyzed the per-formance of tree-level mapping based on HLS under differ-ent phenology conditions on a mixed forest in western Spain comprising Pinus pinaster and two deciduous species,Alnus glutinosa and Quercus *** area was surveyed twice during the growing season(July 2022)and once in the deciduous season(February 2022)using several scan-ning *** reference data(418 trees,15 snags)was used to calibrate the HLS data and to assess the influence of phenology when converting 3D data into tree-level attrib-utes(DBH,height and volume).The HLS-based workflow was robust at isolating tree positions and recognizing stems despite changes in ***-six percent of all pairs matched below 65 *** DBH,phenology barely altered *** observed a strong agreement when comparing HLS-based tree height *** values exceeded 2 m when comparing height measurements,confirming height data should be carefully used as reference in remote sensing-based inventories,especially for deciduous *** volume was more precise for pines(r=0.95,and rela-tive RMSE=21.3–23.8%)compared to deciduous species(r=0.91–0.96,and relative RMSE=27.3–30.5%).HLS data and the forest structural complexity tool performed remark-ably,especially in tree positioning considering mixed forests and mixed phenology conditions.

Finding appropriate photocatalysts for solar-driven water(H_(2)O)splitting to generate hydrogen(H_(2))fuel is a challenging task,particularly when guided by conventional trial-and-error experimental ***,density functional theory(DFT)is used to explore the MXenes photocatalytic properties,an emerging family of two-dimensional(2D)transition metal carbides and nitrides with chemical formula M_(n+1)X_(n)T_(x),known to be semiconductors when having T_(x)*** than 4,000 MXene structures have been screened,considering different compositional(M,X,T_(x),and n)and structural(stacking and termination position)factors,to find suitable MXenes with a bandgap in the visible region and band edges that align with the water-splitting half-reaction *** from bandgap analysis show how,in general,MXenes with n=1 and transition metals from group III present the most cases with bandgap and promising sizes,with C-MXenes being superior to *** band alignment calculations of candidate systems with a bandgap larger than 1.23 eV,the minimum required for a water-splitting process,Sc_(2)CT_(2),Y_(2)CT_(2)(T_(x)=Cl,Br,S,and Se)and Y_(2)CI_(2)are highlighted as adequate photocatalysts.

In this article, we consider the drift parameter estimation problem for the nonergodic Ornstein-Uhlenbeck process defined as dXt = OXtdt + dGt, i > 0 with an unknown parameter θ> 0, where G is a Gaussian process. We assume that the process {xt,t≥ 0} is observed at discrete time instants t1=△n,…, tn = n△n, and we construct two least squares type estimators θn and θn for θ on the basis of the discrete observations ,{xti,i= 1,…, n} as →∞. Then, we provide sufficient conditions, based on properties of G, which ensure that θn and θn are strongly consistent and the sequences √n△n(θn-θ) and √n△n(θn-θ) are tight. Our approach offers an elementary proof of [11], which studied the case when G is a fractional Brownian motion with Hurst parameter H∈(1/2, 1). As such, our results extend the recent findings by [11] to the case of general Hurst parameter H∈(0,1). We also apply our approach to study subfractional Ornstein-Uhlenbeck and bifractional Ornstein-Uhlenbeck processes.

The pool of microbes inhabiting our body is known as “microbiota” and their collective genomes as “microbiome”. The colon is the most densely populated organ in the human body, although other parts, such as the skin, vaginal mucosa, or respiratory tract, also harbour specific microbiota. This microbial community regulates some important metabolic and physiological functions of the host, and drives the maturation of the immune system in early life, contributing to its homeostasis during life. Alterations of the intestinal microbiota can occur by changes in composition (dysbiosis), function, or microbiota-host interactions and they can be directly correlated with several diseases. The only disease in which a clear causal role of a dysbiotic microbiota has been demonstrated is the case of Clostridium difficile infections. nonetheless, alterations in composition and function of the microbiota have been associated with several gastrointestinal diseases (inflammatory bowel disease, colorectal cancer, or irritable bowel syndrome), as well as extra-intestinal pathologies, such as those affecting the liver, or the respiratory tract (e.g., allergy, bronchial asthma, and cystic fibrosis), among others. Species of Bifidobacterium genus are the normal inhabitants of a healthy human gut and alterations in number and composition of their populations is one of the most frequent features present in these diseases. The use of probiotics, including bifidobacteria strains, in preventive medicine to maintain a healthy intestinal function is well documented. Probiotics are also proposed as therapeutic agents for gastrointestinal disorders and other pathologies. The World Gastroenterology Organization recently published potential clinical applications for several probiotic formulations, in which species of lactobacilli are predominant. Malignant transformation of hepatocellular adenoma in a young female patient after ovulation induction fertility treatment:A case report

BACKGROUnD Hepatocellular adenoma(Hca) is a rare benign liver tumor usually affecting young women with a history of prolonged use of hormonal *** the majority is asymptomatic, a low proportion may have significant complications such as bleeding or malignancy. Despite responding to the hormonal stimulus, the desire for pregnancy in patients with small Hca is not contraindicated. However, through this work we demonstrate that intensive hormonal therapies such as those used in the treatment of infertility can trigger serious complications caSE SUMMARY A 33-year-old female with a 10-year history of oral contraceptive use was diagnosed with a hepatic tumor as an incidental finding in an abdominal ultrasound. The patient showed no symptoms and physical examination was unremarkable. Laboratory functional tests were within normal limits and tests for serum tumor markers were negative. An abdominal magnetic resonance imaging(MRI) was performed, showing a 30 mm × 29 mm focal lesion in segment VI of the liver compatible with Hca or Focal nodular Hyperplasia with atypical behavior. After a total of six years of follow-up, the patient underwent ovulation induction treatment for infertility. On a following MRI, a suspected malignancy was warned and hence, surgery was decided. The surgical specimen revealed malignant transformation of Hca towards trabecular hepatocarcinoma with dedifferentiated areas. There was non-evidence of tumor recurrence after three years of clinical and imaging follow-up.,COnCLUSIOn Hcas can be malignant regardless its size and low-risk appearance on MRI when an ovultation induction therapy is indicated.
