Sorption of Water-Extractable Organic carbon in Various Clay Subsoils: Effects of Soil properties

Clay-rich subsoils are added to sandy soils to improve crop yield and increase organic carbon （C） sequestration; however, little is known about the influence of clay subsoil properties on organic C sorption and desorption. Batch sorption experiments were conducted with nine clay subsoils with a range of properties. The clay subsoils were shaken for 16 h at 4 ℃with water-extractable organic C （WEOC, 1 224 g C L-1） from mature wheat residue at a soil to extract ratio of 1：10. After removal of the supernatant, the residual pellet was shaken with deionised water to determine organic C desorption. The WEOC sorption was positively correlated with smectite and illite contents, cation exchange capacity （CEC） and total organic C, but negatively correlated with kaolinite content. Desorption of WEOC expressed as a percentage of WEOC sorbed was negatively correlated with smectite and illite contents, CEC, total and exchangeable calcium （ca） concentrations and clay content, but positively correlated with kaolinite content. The relative importance of these properties varied among soil types. The soils with a high WEOC sorption capacity had medium CEC and their dominant clay minerals were smectite and illite. In contrast, kaolinite was the dominant clay mineral in the soils with a low WEOC sorption capacity and low-to-medium CEC. However, most soils had properties which could increase WEOC sorption as well as those that could decrease WEOC sorption. The relative importance of properties increasing or decreasing WEOC sorption varied with soils. The soils with high desorption had a low total ca concentration, low-to-medium CEC and low clay content, whereas the soils with low desorption were characterised by medium-to-high CEC and smectite and illite were the dominant clay minerals. We conclude that WEOC sorption and desorption depend not on a single property but rather a combination of several properties of the subsoils in this study.

Global Navigation Satellites Systems(GNSS)is frequently used for positioning services in various applications,e.g.,pedestrian and vehicular ***,it is well-known that GNSS positioning performs unreliably in urban *** shadow matching is a method of improving accuracy in the cross-street *** position and classification of observed satellite visibility between line-of-sight(los)and non-line-of-sight(Nlos)are essential for its *** the conventional los/Nlos classification,the classifiers are based on a single feature,extracted from raw GNSS measurements,such as signal noise ratio,pseudorange,elevation angle,*** in urban canyons,these measurements are unstable and unreliable due to the signal reflection and refraction from the surrounding ***,the conventional least square approach for positioning is insufficient to provide accurate initialization for shadow matching in urban *** our study,shadow matching is improved using the initial position from robust estimator and the satellite visibility determined by support vector machine(SVM).The robust estimator has an improved positioning accuracy and the classification rate of SVM classification can reach 91.5%in urban *** important issue is related to satellites with ultra-high or low elevation angles and satellites near the building boundary that are very likely to be *** solving this problem,the SVM classification shows the potential of about 90%classification accuracy for various urban *** the help of these approaches,the shadow matching has a mean error of 10.27 m with 1.44 m in the cross-street direction;these performances are suitable for urban positioning.

Microbial fuel cells(MFCs)are bio-electrochemical systems that can directly convert the chemical energy contained in an effluent into bioelectricity by the action of *** performance of these devices is heavily impacted by the choice of the material that forms the *** work focuses on the assessment of ferroelectric and photocatalytic materials as a new class of non-precious catalysts for MFC cathode construction.A series of cathodes based on mixed oxide solid solution of LitaO_3with WO_3formulated as Li_(1-x)ta_(1-x)W_xO_3(x=0,0.10,0.20 and0.25),were prepared and investigated in *** catalyst phases were synthesized,identified and characterized by DRX,pSD,MET and UV–Vis absorption *** cathodes were tested as photoelectrocatalysts in the presence and in the absence of visible light in devices fed with industrial *** results revealed that the catalytic activity of the cathodes strongly depends on the ratio of substitution of W^(6+)in the LitaO_*** maximum power densities generated by the MFC working with this series of cathodes increased from60.45 mW·m^(-3)for x=0.00(LitaO_3)to 107.2 mW·m^(-3)for x=0.10,showing that insertion of W^(6+)in the tantalate matrix can improve the photocatalytic activity of this ***,MFCs operating under optimal conditions were capable of reducing the load of chemical oxygen demand by 79%(COD_(initial)=1030 mg·L^(-1)).

The extant cabrera’s vole,Microtus cabrerae,differs in morphology and evolutionary history from the other species of *** arvicoline has unique derived features in the cranium,mandible and ***bly its most conspicuous features are its large size,the high skull in lateral view,the long and distally broad nasals,and the triangle shape of the anteroconid complex,with a marked labio-lingual asymmetry of the occlusal surface of the first lower *** this study,we propose a phylogenetic lineage that includes cabrera’s vole in what until now has been the Microtus subgenus *** information and several life history traits support the elevation of Iberomys to the rank of *** Iberomys comprises species that have appeared in succession during the Quaternary:in the Early pleistocene,the extinct *** in the Middle pleistocene,the extinct *** and in the Late pleistocene,the extant ***,the extant species shows several biological singularities,such as multiple polymorphic copies of the SRY male-specific gene in both males and females,and the lowest basal metabolic rate in relation to weight among arvicoline ***,its habitat requirement is unique among the Iberian ***,the biological and paleontological data that we present in this work support the elevation of its taxonomic rank to that of ge*** study also suggests a modification of nomenclature:Microtus(Iberomys)brecciensis is replaced with *** and the common name of the extant M.(I.)cabrerae changed from‘topillo’to‘iberon’to improve conservation and protection actions.

目的了解2013年上海市青浦地区临床分离的革兰阴性菌对抗菌药物的敏感性。方法采用自动化仪器对该地区2所医院临床分离的革兰阴性菌进行药敏试验,采用CLSI 2013年版标准判断结果。结果总计1 376株革兰阴性菌中,大肠埃希菌、克雷伯菌属和奇异变形杆菌中产超广谱β内酰胺酶(ESBL)菌株的检出率分别为66.7%、28.7%和12.5%。产ESBL菌株对临床常用抗菌药物的耐药率均高于非产ESBL菌株。肠杆菌科细菌对碳青霉烯类抗生素仍高度敏感,对亚胺培南和阿米卡星的总耐药率分别为4.2%和6.8%。铜绿假单胞菌和不动杆菌属对亚胺培南的耐药率分别为17.1%、36.0%。大肠埃希菌、肺炎克雷伯菌、鲍曼不动杆菌和铜绿假单胞菌中有少数菌株对所有测试的药物耐药。结论细菌耐药性仍对临床构成严重威胁,应引起临床关注。

Regulation of floral senescence in Arabidopsis by coordinated action of CONStaNS and jasmonate signaling

In Arabidopsis,photoperiodic flowering is controlled by the regulatory hub gene CONStaNS(CO),whereas floral organ senescence is regulated by the jasmonates(jas).Because these processes are chronologically ordered,it remains unknown whether there are common regulators of both *** this study,we discovered that CO protein accumulates in Arabidopsis flowers after floral induction,and it displays a diurnal pattern in floral organs different from that in the *** observed that altered CO expression could affect flower senescence and abscission by interfering with ja response,as shown by petal-specific transcriptomic analysis as well as CO overexpression in ja synthesis and signaling *** found that CO has a ZIM(ZINC-FINGER INFLORESCENCE MERISTEM)like domain that mediates its interaction with the ja response repressor jaZ3(jasmonate ZIM-domain 3).Their interaction inhibits the repressor activity of jaZ3,resulting in activation of downstream transcription factors involved in promoting flower ***,we showed that CO,jaZ3,and the E3 ubiquitin ligase COI1(Coronatine Insensitive 1)could form a protein complex in planta,which promotes the degradation of both CO and jaZ3 in the presence of *** together,our results indicate that CO,a key regulator of photoperiodic flowering,is also involved in promoting flower senescence and abscission by augmenting ja signaling and *** propose that coordinated recruitment of photoperiodic and ja signaling pathways could be an efficient way for plants to chronologically order floral processes and ensure the success of offspring production.
