Tourist Behaviors in Wetland Park:A Preliminary Study in Xixi National Wetland Park,Hangzhou,China

Public education as well as tourism and leisure are the two important functions of national wetland park, and tourist behaviors act as the guiding factor in the national wetland park construction and *** the first national wetland park in China, Xixi National Wetland Park, located in Hangzhou City, Zhejiang Province, will give constructive instructions to the construction and management of other wetland parks and ecotourism *** paper analyzed the tourist behaviors in Xixi National Wetland *** the observation, in-depth interview and questionnaire, the results show that tourists in wetland parks are different from those in the other common destinations, and they are also different from those strict *** fact, the tourists in wetland park have unique characteristics, such as the intense perception to the functions of wetland ecosystem and the environment impact *** tourists are preferred to natural landscapes in their motivations and *** landscapes are the main image to those tourists in the Xixi National Wetland *** expectation, experience and satisfaction are all critical factors for the success of the planning and management in national wetland *** on the results, some measures for the sustainable development of wetland parks, including to optimize wetland theme landscape and tourism products, to improve tourist facilities and services, to enhance quality of visitor experiences, and to implement total quality management based on tourist characteristics, are given to national wetland park ecotourism.

Methane emissions from natural and drained peatlands in the Zoigê, eastern Qinghai-Tibet Plateau

Peatlands are one of the major natural sources of methane （CH4）, but the level of CH4 efflux is uncertain, especially in alpine peatlands. In this study, CH4 emission fluxes from natural and drained peatlands on the Qinghai- Tibet Plateau, southwest China, were measured from June to October in 2013 using the opaque static chamber technique and the Fast Greenhouse Gas Analyzer （DLT-100, Los Gatos Research Corp.）. CH4 emission fluxes ranged from 2.07 to 56.33 mg m^-2 h^-1 in natural peatlands and from 0.02 to 0.42 mg m^-2 h^-1 in drained peatlands. Mean CH4 emission flux was 19.13 mg m^-2 h^-1 in natural peatlands and 0.14 mg m^-2 h^-1 in drained peatlands. These results showed that drainage led to a significant decrease in CH4 emissions. CH4 emission fluxes for all sampling plots were significantly correlated with variation in water table depth for linear （R^2 = 0.453, P 〈 0.01） and exponential functions （R^2 = 0.429, P 〈 0.01）.

Ecosystem services valuation seeks to increase the social relevance of ecosystem characteristics, the underlying biological mechanisms that support services, by making the contribution of ecosystems to human well-being explicit. Economic valuation can help management by clarifying the full range of benefits and costs of proposed management actions. In the past two decades, economic valuation of wetland ecosystem services has become one of the most significant scientific priorities for wetland protection. In this paper, we provide an overview of ecosystem services, and summarize the main interdisciplinary approaches to measure and value wetland ecosystem services. We identified four main methodological gaps preventing progress on wetland valuation of ecosystem services in China, which are: 1) confusion on terminology like intermediate and final ecosystem services, 2) lack of ecological production functions to link ecosystem characteristics to final ecosystem services, 3) static valuation making it difficult to evaluate the trade-offs and synergies among ecosystem services, and 4) lack of clear guidance on relating ecological compensation programs to conservation targets. Overcoming these gaps is important to inform wetland compensation mechanisms and conservation policies. We propose future research on wetland ecosystem services in China should be focused on: 1) defining final ecosystem services based on beneficiary preferences and underlying biophysical mechanisms, 2) establishing wetland monitoring programs at specific sites to collect data on final ecosystem service indicators and ecosystem characteristic metrics to create ecological production functions for economic valuation and rescaling techniques, and 3) incorporating wetland ecosystem service values into decision-making processes to inform wetland management.

Officials'Foreign Experience and Firms'Exports:Evidence from China

This study examines how the foreign experience of local oficials affects firms'exports in *** a matched sample from 2000 to 2012,we found that the foreign experience of municipal Party secretaries had a significant impact on the promotion of firms'exports,especially for private *** positive impact was more pronounced when officials went abroad at a younger age,stayed abroad for a longer period,returned to China for a longer time,and had greater promotion *** found that officials'foreign experience helped to mitigate the negative impact of institutional distance and provided firms with better access to export subsidies,both of which could promote *** was also a complementary effect when officials and executives both had foreign ***,our study provides some insights into the economic outcomes of officials'foreign experience and sheds light on the export performance of Chinese firms.

Relationship between Distribution of Soil Seed Bank and Environmental Factors in Lakeshore Wetlands,Taihu Lake,China

In order to analyze the spatial pattern of soil seed bank and its relation to environmental factors in lakeshore wetlands in Taihu Lake region,4 different sites in the lakeshore wetlands(A site at fleabane zone;B site at bush and grass zone;C site at crop zone;D site at natural reed zone) were *** germination experiment was carried out and ordination technique(canonical correspondence analysis) was used in the study *** results showed that totally 21 species(7 families) germinated from the seed *** seed bank density of 4 sites(A,B,C,and D sites)was(3 120 ± 1 581) ind./m2,(14 800 ± 5 049) ind./m2,(4 080 ± 1 760) ind./m2and(3 600 ± 2 882) ind./m2,*** the deepening of the soil,the soil seed bank density of the vertical distribution showed a downward *** p H,soil moisture content,electric conductance,vegetation cover and soil bulk density all influenced the distribution of soil seed ***,soil moisture content had the greatest impact on the soil seed bank in lakeshore wetlands in Taihu Lake region.

Effect of mangrove restoration on crab burrow density in Luoyangjiang Estuary,China

Background： Mangrove restoration seeks to restore or rebuild degraded mangrove systems. The methods of mangrove restoration include ecological projects and restoration-oriented technologies, the latter of which are designed to restore the structure, processes as well as related physical, chemical and biological characteristics of wetlands and to ensure the provision of ecosystem services. As important components of mangrove ecosystem, benthic organisms and crabs play a key role in nutrient cycling. In addition, mangrove restoration, such as vegetation restoration measures, can lead to changes in the benthic faunal communities. This study investigates whether the presence of different mangrove species, age and canopy cover of mangrove communities affect the density of crab burrows. Methods： The Luoyangjiang Estuary, in the southeast of Fujian Province, was selected as our research area. A survey, covering 14 sites, was conducted to investigate the impacts of mangrove restoration on the density of crab burrows in four rehabilitated forests with different stand ages and canopy. Results： It was found that differences in vegetation types had a large impact on crab density and that the density of crab burrows was lower on exposed beaches （non-mangrove） than under mature Kondelio condel, Aegiceros corniculatum and Avicennio morina communities. In general, the amount of leaf litter and debris on mangrove mudfiats was greater than on the beaches as food sources for crabs. Two-factor analysis of variance （ANOVA） shows that changes in mangrove species and age since restoration had different effects on crab burrow density. The effect of canopy cover was highly significant on crab burrow density. Conclusions： The results suggest that in the process of mangrove restoration the combined effects of mangrove stand age, canopy cover and other factors should be taken into account. Trade-off between leaf chlorophyll and betacyanins in Suaeda salsa in the Liaohe estuary wetland in northeast China

Evaluation of Ecosystem Services Value of the Zoigê Wetland Nature Reserve by Multiple Criteria

Understanding the value of ecosystem services is useful for the decision making and sustainable management of the wetlands. It would be better to integrate ecological, economic and social factors into ecosystem service valuation. The general value of the Zoigê Wetland Nature Reserve in the southwest China by integrating a social welfare weight, which is determined by a three-level analytic hierarchy process, was calculated. Through analyzing the functions, stakeholders and ecosystem services of the Zoigê Wetland Nature Reserve, the six main services, including substance production, flood control, gas regulation, climate regulation, recreation, and biodiversity conservation,were selected; and a three-level hierarchical structure model was established. The top(goal) level of the model refers to the total ecosystem services value of the Zoigê Wetland Nature Reserve, the middle level(stakeholder level) refers to stakeholders at different scales, and the bottom level(service level) refers to individual services provided by the Zoigê Wetland Nature Reserve. The results indicated that the ecosystem services value of the Zoigê Wetland Nature Reserve was 320.38×10~8yuan RMB in 2011. If including the social welfare, the value increased to 2258.68×10~8yuan RMB. The value of biodiversity conservation accounted for the largest proportion, which were 53% without the social welfare and 75% with it. And without the social welfare, flood control, gas regulation, climate regulation of the Zoigê Wetland Nature Reserve accounted for 26%, 11% and 8% of the total value, while the proportion that substance production and recreation values were of the total value were very small. Meanwhile, with the social weight,flood control, gas regulation, climate regulation, recreation of the Zoigê Wetland Nature Reserve accounted for 10%,13%, 1% and 1% of the total value, then the weight of substance production value was also the smallest.

Distribution patterns of plant communities and their associations with environmental soil factors on the eastern shore of Lake Taihu,China

Introduction:Plant communities and soil factors might interact with each other in different temporal and spatial scales,which can influence the patterns and processes of the wetland *** get a better understanding of the distribution of plants in wetlands and analyze their associations with environmental soil factors,the structure and types of plant communities in the eastern shore area of Lake Taihu were analyzed by two-way indicator species analysis and canonical correspondence analysis(CCA)*** spatial distribution patterns of vegetation and the main factors affecting the distributions were ***:Sixty-six sampling sites were selected to obtain vegetation species and soil environmental factor *** showed that 22 species from the 66 sites could be divided into seven communities:I:Arundo donax;II:***+Phragmites australis;III:Zizania latifolia+Typha orientalis;IV:***+Alternanthera philoxeroides+Polygonum hydropiper;V:***;VI:***+Humulus scandens;and VII:Erigeron acer+Ipomoea batatas+Rumex *** species and soil factors in the CCA analysis showed that ***,***,Chenopodium album,Polygonum lapathifolium,and Acalypha australis were mainly affected by pH,whereas Echinochloa crus-galli,Setaria viridis,and *** were mainly affected by soil total *** canadensis and *** were mainly affected by soil conductivity,*** was mainly affected by soil organic matter and,***,Metaplexis japonica and *** were mainly affected by available ***:These results indicated that different plants adapted to different soil environmental factors and provided basic information on the diversity of Lake Taihu wetland vegetation.

Introduction:Wetland soil fauna support material cycling and restoration processes in wetland *** our study,we observed variations in wetland soil fauna on the shores of Lake Taihu,*** examined the relationships between fauna and major environmental factors,and looked at the short-and long-term changes in reed wetlands under restoration and in the natural reed ***:We identified 93 groups of soil fauna in different wetlands and found significant differences in the lakeshore wetlands’soil fauna assemblages,depending on the length of the restoration *** analyzing the soil fauna community evenness,dominance,number of taxa,and diversity,we found minimal seasonal variation in the soil fauna community diversity and *** abundance of soil fauna in the sites under restoration decreased with depth below the soil *** reed restoration was obvious in the succession of the soil fauna groups in the long-term *** the restoration had an overall positive long-term effect on the soil fauna communities,there were no obvious short-term changes in the number of ***:The study explored various potential measures to restore soil fauna in the Lake Taihu wetland and developed a theoretical basis for restoring the lakeshore wetland ecosystem.
