Many existing techniques to acquire dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry(DXA)images are unable to accurately distinguish between bone and soft *** the most part,this failure stems from bone shape variability,noise and low contrast in DXA images,inconsistent X-ray beam penetration producing shadowing effects,and person-to-person *** work explores the feasibility of using state-of-the-art deep learning semantic segmentation models,fully convolutional networks(FCNs),SegNet,and U-Net to distinguish femur bone from soft *** investigated the performance of deep learning algorithms with reference to some of our previously applied conventional image segmentation techniques(i.e.,a decision-tree-based method using a pixel label decision tree[PLDT]and another method using Otsu’s thresholding)for femur DXA images,and we measured accuracy based on the average Jaccard index,sensitivity,and *** learning models using SegNet,U-Net,and an FCN achieved average segmentation accuracies of 95.8%,95.1%,and 97.6%,respectively,compared to PLDT(91.4%)and Otsu’s thresholding(72.6%).Thus we conclude that an FCN outperforms other deep learning and conventional techniques when segmenting femur bone from soft tissue in DXA *** femur segmentation improves bone mineral density computation,which in turn enhances the diagnosing of osteoporosis.

The intelligent environment needs Human-Computer Interactive technology （HCI） and a projector projects screen on wall in the intelligent environments. We propose the front-face detection from four captured images related to the intelligent room for the deaf. Our proposal purpose is that a deaf user faces wall displaying everywhere. system gets the images from four cameras, and detects the user region from a silhouette image using a different method, detects and cuts a motion body region from a different image, and cuts the vertexchest region from the cut body region image. The system attempts to find front-face using Haar-like feature, and selects a detected front-face image from the vertex-chest region. We estimate the front-face detection of recognition rate, which shows somewhat successfully.

To identify the macroeconomic environment that has enabled China's industrial upgrading during a period of persistent renminbi appreciation,we construct a two-country New Keynesian model of industrial upgrading with a global production network,endogenous firm entry,and a directed quality *** show that renminbi appreciation promotes industrial upgrading without hurting real economic growth in the longer *** holds true especially through four ***,the quality threshold for firm entry is lower to allow for more firms participation and thus greater product varieties(quality threshold channel).Second,upstream skill-based production uses more imported inputs of higher quality(imported input channel).Third,there is substantial global demand towards the exports of high-quality inputs(global demand channel).Fourth,domestic inputs are competing against imported inputs to broaden the scope for competition in the upstream product market to incentivize quality upgrading(scope for competition channel).

Asian-American literature is often identified as foreign by Asians and considered inauthentic American literature by the American ***,this minority group literature is unique in its characteristics so that it cannot be easily judged by either Asian or American *** order to better understand Asian-American literature,it is necessary to study how the members of Asian immigrant communities tend to form their own unique identities as Asian-Americans and to examine their literature using a new prism in light of cosmopolitanism,and not with any of the conventional *** formation has never been easy and natural for the bewildered and suffering Asian immigrants in the United States of America,especially for the second *** the study of the Korean American writer Chang-rae Lee’s Native Speaker and the Chinese-American writer Maxine Hong Kingston’s The Woman Warrior,we hope to explore the possibilities and impossibilities in cultural and social identification represented in those *** study clearly reveals that the social and psychological conflicts that Asian immigrants experience are frequently projected on the works of the immigrant writers.A cosmopolitan prospect is often envisioned in their works as a way out for both the locals and the diasporas in today’s increasingly globalized world.

Plants are a rich source of valuable secondary metabolites and in the recent years plant cell, tissue and organ cultures have been developed as an important alternative sources for the production of these compounds. Adventitious roots have been successfully induced in many plant species and cultured for the production of high value secondary metabolites of pharmaceutical, nutraceutical and industrial importance. Adoption of elicitation methods have shown improved synthesis of secondary metabolites in adventitious root cultures. Development of large-scale culture methods using bioreactors has opened up feasibilities of production of secondary metabolites at the industrial levels. In the present review we summarize the progress made in recent past in the area of adventitious root cultures for the production of secondary metabolites.

Acute mesenteric venous thrombosis is potentially lethal because it can result in mesenteric ischemia and,ultimately,bowel infarction requiring surgical *** anticoagulation for the prevention of thrombus propagation is a well-recognized treatment modality and the current mainstay therapy for patients with acute mesenteric venous ***,the decision between prompt surgical exploration vs conservative treatment with anticoagulation is somewhat difficult in patients with suspected bowel *** we describe a patient with acute mesenteric venous thrombosis who presented with bowel ischemia and was treated with anticoagulation and delayed short-segment bowel resection.

Silicon composite of nano-capsule type is newly applied as an active anode material for lithium ion ***2-encapsulated silicon powders were synthesized by a sol-gel reaction with titanium *** nanoparticles were successfully embedded into porous titanium oxide capsules that played as a buffer layer against drastic volume changes of silicon during the charge-discharge cycling,consequently leading to the retardation of the capacity fading of intrinsic silicon *** electrochemical and structural properties of silicon nanocomposites with different surface areas of encapsulating TiO2 layer were characterized by X-ray diffraction(XRD),nitrogen gas adsorption analysis by the Brunauer-Emmett-Teller(BET) equation,transmission electron microscopy(TEM),and galvanostatic charge-discharge experiments.

AIM:To investigate the effects of a new opening pattern in neodymium:yttrium-aluminum-garnet(Nd:YAG)laser posterior capsulotomy on visual ***:This technique was conducted along a circular *** energy ranged between 0.8 and1.2 mJ/pulse was consumed and mean total energy levels were 74±21 mJ(mean±standard deviation:SD,from 40 to167)and laser shots aimed at 150μm away behind a datum point and went along an imaginary line which extends 0.5 mm inside from optic margin and into the circular en bloc *** stands were attached with fragment and then they were cut off by the laser after circular *** circular fragment was completely separated from vitreous,and then this fragment was quickly sunk in intravitreal ***:The follow-up period ranges from at least a week to 40mo,making 15.8mo on *** procedural outcome showed 96%(74 eyes out of the 77eyes)enhancement in patients’visual *** macular edema or retinal detachment was not observed in any of the patients during follow-up ***:This new technique is expected to improve the weaknesses that the conventional procedures have by adding the process to cut off vitreous stands attached with the fragment by the laser to the circular application.
