Land use/land cover represents the interactive and comprehensive influences between human activities and natural conditions,leading to potential conflicts among natural and human-related issues as well as among *** study introduced economic standards for farmers.A hybrid approach(CA-ABM)of cellular automaton(CA)and an agent-based model(ABM)was developed to effectively deal with social and land-use synergic issues to examine human–environment interactions and projections of land-use conversions for a humid basin in south *** attributes and socioeconomic data were used to analyze land use/land cover and its drivers of *** major modules of the CA-ABM are initialization,migration,assets,land suitability,and land-use change *** estimates of the factors influencing the urban land-use conversion probability were captured using parameters based on a spatial logistic regression(SLR)***,multicriteria evaluation(MCE)and Markov models were introduced to obtain empirical estimates of the factors affecting the probability of ecological land *** agent-based CA-SLR-MCE-Markov(ABCSMM)land-use conversion model was proposed to explore the impacts of policies on land-use *** model can reproduce observed land-use patterns and provide links for forest transition and urban expansion to land-use decisions and ecosystem *** results demonstrated land-use simulations under multi-policy scenarios,revealing the usefulness of the model for normative research on land-use management.

Most of the expressions describing fire plumes reported in the literature are known to be based on experiments. Due to different experimental methods, the geometry of the fire sources, fuel types and surrounding conditions, it is difficult to derive a comprehensive picture of a plume with its temperature and velocity fields on the basis of existing theoretical work. Computational Fluid Dynamics （CFD）, which is regarded as a practical engineering tool in fire engineering by the experts, is sure to be able to give more details of the plume behavior under various situations. Aerodynamics for thermally-induced plumes will be studied numerically with CFD. Four typical axisymmetric plume equations will be assessed in this paper, and investigations will be useful for fire engineers in designing smoke management systems in an affordable fashion. This is a critical point in implementing engineering performance-based fire code.

Situated between the petroliferous Cenozoic Zhujiang(Pearl)River Mouth Basin and the mud volcano-rich Mesozoic Dongsha Basin in the middle sector of the northern South China Sea,the Weitan Banks area has been previously mapped as a basement high that is composed of Mesozoic magmatic *** this study,we present several favorable indicators for petroleum geology that were detected from geophysical profiling and benthic sampling in the area.A conspicuous hill was discovered,named“Zhongwei Hill”,~80 m high above the~340 m deep seafloor and~1 km broad,in a depression with more than 7 km thick sedimentary *** Zhongwei Hill was seismically imaged with a mushroom-shaped structure and containing a cake-like crown,fluid flow pipes,and an~10 km broad anticline at ***,the hill represents a source-plumbing-eruption *** gas zones linked to deep fracture were found at or near the *** correlation indicates that the deep strata comprise the Jurassic and Paleogene strata,the major hosts of hydrocarbon source *** addition to the hill,there are number of mounds from which three bottom water samples were collected and the samples are rich in dissolved methane with concentrations high up to~900 nmol/L,much higher than the background level(0.5–2 nmol/L).The benthic samples are rich in coarse sediment clastics,authigenic carbonate nodules,and deep-water habitats likely feeding on methanotrophic *** these observations and the context,we propose that the Zhongwei Hill represents a mud volcano,likely thermally driven,that seeps methane from Jurassic and Paleogene source layers,thus poses a favorable clue for significant hydrocarbon generation capacity in transitional zone of the Zhujiang River Mouth Basin and the Dongsha Basin.

Numerical studies on internal fire whirls(IFW)generated in a vertical shaft model with a single corner gap were reported in this *** generation of IFW,burning rate of fuel and temperature were studied experimentally *** simulations on medium-scale IFW were carried out using a fully-coupled large eddy simulation incorporating subgrid scale turbulence and a fire source with heat release rates compiled from experimental *** transient flame shape was studied and then simulated numerically by using *** dynamic phenomena of generation and development of IFW were simulated and then compared with experimental *** predicted results were validated by comparing with experimental data,which demonstrated that an IFW can be simulated by Computational Fluid *** results for flame surface,temperature,and flame length agreed well with the experimental *** IFW flame region and intermittent region were longer than those for an ordinary pool *** modified empirical formula for centerline temperature was *** of vertical and tangential velocity in axial and radial directions were also *** vortex core radius was found to be determined by the fuel bed *** field was not measured extensively due to resources *** measured temperature distribution with predictions is acceptable because temperature is related to the heat release rate,air flow and pressure gradient.

Mobile Edge Computing(MEC)is a promising technology that provides on-demand computing and efficient storage services as close to end users as *** an MEC environment,servers are deployed closer to mobile terminals to exploit storage infrastructure,improve content delivery efficiency,and enhance user ***,due to the limited capacity of edge servers,it remains a significant challenge to meet the changing,time-varying,and customized needs for highly diversified content of ***,techniques for caching content at the edge are becoming popular for addressing the above *** is capable of filling the communication gap between the users and content providers while relieving pressure on remote cloud ***,existing static caching strategies are still inefficient in handling the dynamics of the time-varying popularity of content and meeting users’demands for highly diversified entity *** address this challenge,we introduce a novel method for content caching over MEC,i.e.,*** synthesizes a content popularity prediction model,which takes users’stay time and their request traces as inputs,and a deep reinforcement learning model for yielding dynamic caching *** results demonstrate that PRIME,when tested upon the MovieLens 1M dataset for user request patterns and the Shanghai Telecom dataset for user mobility,outperforms its peers in terms of cache hit rates,transmission latency,and system cost.

Application of Nonlinear Dynamics in Studying Flashover Fire in a Small Open kitchen

＜正＞Smoke control design in adjacent spaces to ’open-design’ atrium was evaluated using Computational Fluid Dynamics （CFD） or known as Numerical Heat Transfer （NHT）. The design is to install mechanical system for injecting air from the adjacent level to the atrium for preventing smoke spreading to those area. Two questions encountered on practical design of smoke management system in an atrium were discussed by carrying out six sets of CFD/NHT simulations. This paper is not on ’validating’ or ’verifying’ CFD/NHT packages, but on ’demonstrating’ how the results can be applied.

Open kitchen designs are found in small units in tall residential buildings of Asian-Oceania regions for better space utilization. As many combustibles are stored in small residential units, fire originated in the open kitchen can grow and spread fast. Consequently, flashover can occur to give a big fire and result in severe casualties and property damage. Nonlinear dynamics can be applied to predict critical heat release rate to flashover in the unit with an open kitchen and will be illustrated in this paper. Based on a two-zone model, temperature of the hot smoke layer was taken as the system state variable. An evolution equation was developed with selective control parameters. Onsetting of flashover using a nonlinear dynamical system was demonstrated in the example residential units. Effects of the floor dimensions, the radiation feedback coefficient and thermal properties of wall material on the onset of flashover were then examined and analyzed. The developed nonlinear dynamical model for studying the onset of flashover gives a better understanding of the various control parameters.

Based on the Perelmann mappings from the homogenous 5D onto the inhomogeneous Lorentz 4D manifold at liquid water phase temperature range, it is shown that coherent and decoherent molecules, water, carbon, hydrogen and oxygen naturally replace the Quarks in the standard model at Bethe fusion temperature as the SU(3) generators, leading to the formation of nitrogenous bases to house the monopole boson eigenstates that can exist within the RNA and DNA. Through which the growth of organic cells by inducing the Off Diagonal Long-Range Order of “p” type hole states in organic rings and bio-cells and thus “Life”.
