Study on adhesively-bonded surface of tapered double cantilever specimen made of aluminum foam affected with shear force

Aluminum foam is widely used in diverse areas to minimize the weight and maximize the absorption of shock energy in lightweight structures and various *** presents a number of advantages,such as low density,incombustibility,non-rigidity,excellent energy absorptivity,sound absorptivity and low heat *** aluminum foam with an air cell structure was placed under the TDCB Mode II tensile load by using Landmark equipment manufactured by MTS to examine the shear failure *** angle of the tapered adhesively-bonded surfaces of specimens was designated as a variable,and three models were developed with the inclined angles differing from one another at 6°,8° and 10°.The specimens with the inclined angles of 6°,8° and 10° have the maximum reaction forces of 168 N,194 N when the forced displacements are 6,5 and 4.2 mm *** are three specimens with the inclined angles of 10°,8° and 6° in the order of maximum reaction *** the analysis result,the maximum equivalent stresses of 0.813 MPa and 0.895 MPa happened when the forced displacements of 6 mm and 5 mm proceeded at the models of 6° and 8°,respectively.A simulation was carried out on the basis of finite element method and the experimental *** results of the experiment and the simulation analysis are shown not different from each other ***,only a simulation could be confirmed to be performed in substitution of an experiment,which is costly and time-consuming in order to determine the shearing properties of materials made of aluminum foam with artificial data.

Gastric cancer(GC)is a pervasive global malignancy with high mortality rates due to distant metastasis[1].GC metastasis can occur via hematogenous route,peri-toneal route,and specifically through ovarian spread in females[2].Among these,peritoneal metastasis is the most prevalent and challenging condition to treat[3].The Cancer Genome Atlas(TCGA)has uncovered four molec-ular subtypes of GC:microsatellite instability,Epstein-Barr virus-related,chromosomal instability,and genomically stable[4].

Effect of Meteorological Data Assimilation on Regional Air Quality Forecasts over the Korean Peninsula

The Weather Research and Forecasting model coupled with Chemistry(WRF-Chem),a type of online coupled chemistry-meteorology model(CCMM),considers the interaction between air quality and meteorology to improve air quality *** data assimilation(DA)can be used to reduce uncertainty in meteorological field,which is one factor causing prediction uncertainty in the *** this study,WRF-Chem and three-dimensional variational DA were used to examine the impact of meteorological DA on air quality and meteorological forecasts over the Korean *** nesting model domains were configured over East Asia(outer domain)and the Korean Peninsula(inner domain).Three experiments were conducted by using different DA domains to determine the optimal model domain for the meteorological *** the meteorological DA was performed in the outer domain or both the outer and inner domains,the root-mean-square error(RMSE),bias of the predicted particulate matter(PM)concentrations,and the RMSE of predicted meteorological variables against the observations were smaller than those in the experiment where the meteorological DA was performed only in the inner *** indicates that the improvement of the synoptic meteorological fields by DA in the outer domain enhanced the meteorological initial and boundary conditions for the inner domain,subsequently improving air quality and meteorological *** to the experiment without meteorological DA,the RMSE and bias of the meteorological and PM variables were smaller in the experiments with *** effect of meteorological DA on the improvement of PM predictions lasted for approximately 58-66 h,depending on the ***,the uncertainty reduction in the meteorological initial condition by the meteorological DA contributed to a reduction of the forecast errors of both meteorology and air quality.

To demonstrate flexible and tandem device applications,a low-temperature Cu_(2)ZnSnSe_(4)(CZTSe)deposition process,combined with efficient alkali doping,was ***,high-quality CZTSe films were grown at 480℃by a single co-evaporation,which is applicable to polyimide(PI)*** of the alkali-free substrate,Na and K alkali doping were systematically studied and optimized to precisely control the alkali distribution in *** bulk defect density was significantly reduced by suppression of deep acceptor states after the(NaF+KF)*** the low-temperature deposition with(NaF+KF)PDTs,the CZTSe device on glass yields the best efficiency of 8.1%with an improved Voc deficit of 646 *** developed deposition technologies have been applied to *** the first time,we report the highest efficiency of 6.92%for flexible CZTSe solar cells on ***,CZTSe devices were utilized as bottom cells to fabricate four-terminal CZTSe/perovskite tandem cells because of a low bandgap of CZTSe(~1.0 eV)so that the tandem cell yielded an efficiency of 20%.The obtained results show that CZTSe solar cells prepared by a low-temperature process with in-situ alkali doping can be utilized for flexible thin-film solar cells as well as tandem device applications.

Here we introduce bismuth-based catalysts for the efficient electrochemical reduction of CO_(2)to formic acid(HCOOH),which are composed of petal-shaped Bi_(2)O_(2)CO_(3)(BOC)that spontaneously formed from Bi thin film in aqueous carbonate solution at room *** the electrochemical reduction process,the BOC petals transform to reduced BOC(R-BOC)consisting of individual BOC and Bi *** mismatch between both domains induces biaxial strain at the *** functional theory calculations suggest that the tensile strain on the Bi domain stabilizes the*Ocho intermediate,reducing the thermodynamic barrier toward CO_(2)conversion to *** with the thermodynamic benefit and the unique nanoporous petal-shaped morphology,R-BOC petals have a superior Faradaic efficiency of 95.9%at-0.8 V_(RHE)for the electrochemical conversion of CO_(2)to *** work demonstrates that the spontaneously formed binary phases with desirable lattice strain can increase the activity of bismuth catalysts to the CO_(2)reduction reaction;such a strategy can be applicable in design of various electrocatalysts.

Surgical Repair of Ventricular Septal Defect in Neonates: Indications and Outcomes

Background:The optimal surgical timing and clinical outcomes of ventricular septal defect(VSD)closure in neo-nates remain *** aimed to evaluate the clinical outcomes of VSD closure in neonates(age≤30 days).Methods:We retrospectively reviewed 50 consecutive neonates who underwent VSD closure for isolated VSDs between August 2003 and June *** for the procedure included congestive heart failure/failure to thrive and pulmonary *** adverse events(MAEs)were deﬁned as the composite of all-cause mortality,reoperation,persistent atrioventricular block,and signiﬁcant(≥grade 2)valvular ***:The median age and body weight at operation were 26.0 days(interquartile range[IQR],18.8–28.3)and 3.7 kg(IQR,3.3–4.2),*** median follow-up duration was 110.4 months(IQR,56.8–165.0).Seven patients required preoperative respiratory support,andﬁve had signiﬁcant(≥grade 2)preoperative valvular *** early mortality occurred due to irreversible cardiogenic shock;no late mortality was *** reopera-tion was due to hemodynamically signiﬁcant residual VSD at 103.8 months *** overall survival,freedom from reoperation,and freedom from MAE at 15-years were 98.0%,96.3%,and 94.4%,***-operative mechanical ventilation was associated with a longer duration of postoperative mechanical ventilation(p<0.001)and a longer length of intensive care unit stay(p<0.001).Conclusions:VSD closure with favorable outcomes without morbidities is feasible even in ***,neonates requiring preoperative respiratory support may require careful postoperative management considering the long-term postoperative ***,surgical VSD closure might be indicated earlier in neonates with respiratory compromise.

Electrical stimulation has recently received attention as noninvasive treatment in skin wound healing with its outstanding biological property for clinical set***,the complexity of equipment for applying appropriate electrical stimulation remains an ongoing ***,we proposed a strategy for skin scar inhibition by providing electrical stimulation via a multilayer stacked electret(MS-electret),which can generate direct current(DC)electric field(EF)without any power supply *** addition,the MS-electret can easily control the intensity of EFs by simply stacking electret layers and maintain stable EF with the surface potential of 3400 V over 5 days owing to the injected charges on the electret *** confirmed inhibition of type 1 collagen andα-SMA expression of human dermal fibroblasts(hDFs)by 90%and 44%in vitro,indicating that the transition of hDFs to myofibroblasts was restricted by applying stable electrical *** further revealed a 20%significant decrease in the ratio of myofibroblasts caused by the MS-electret in *** findings present that the MS-electret is an outstanding candidate for effective skin scar inhibition with a battery-free,physiological electrical microenvironment,and noninvasive treatment that allows it to prevent external infection.

Developing an active and stable anode catalyst for the proton exchange membrane water electrolyzer(PEM-WE)is a critical objective to enhance the economic viability of green hydrogen ***,the expensive iridium-based electrocatalyst remains the sole practical material with industrial-level stability for the acidic oxygen evolution reaction(OER)at the ***-based catalysts have been proposed as more cost-effective alternatives with improved activity,though their stability requires *** current urgent goal is to reduce costs and noble metal loading of the OER catalyst while maintaining robust activity and *** this study,we design a Ru-based OER catalyst incorporating Pb as a supporting *** electrocatalyst exhibits an OER overpotential of 201 mV at 10 mA·cm^(-2),simultaneously reducing Ru noble metal loading by~40%.Normalization of the electrochemically active surface area unveils improved intrinsic activity compared to the pristine RuO_(2) *** a practical stability test in a PEM-WE setup,our developed catalyst sustains stable performance over 300 h without notable degradation,underscoring its potential for future applications as a reliable anodic catalyst.

Recent advances in functionally graded additive manufacturing(FGAM)technology have enabled the seamless hybridization of multiple functionalities in a single *** robotics can become one of the largest beneficiaries of these advances,through the design of a facile four-dimensional(4D)FGAM process that can grant an intelligent stimuli-responsive mechanical functionality to the printed ***,we present a simple binder jetting approach for the 4D printing of functionally graded porous multi-materials(FGMM)by introducing rationally designed graded multiphase feeder *** graded cross-linking agents gradually form stable porous network structures within aqueous polymer particles,enabling programmable hygroscopic deformation without complex mechanical ***,a systematic bed design incorporating additional functional agents enables a multi-stimuli-responsive and untethered soft robot with stark stimulus *** biodegradability of the proposed 4D-printed soft robot further ensures the sustainability of our approach,with immediate degradation rates of 96.6%within 72 *** proposed 4D printing concept for FGMMs can create new opportunities for intelligent and sustainable additive manufacturing in soft robotics.

Thermodynamic model for deoxidation of liquid steel considering strong metal-oxygen interaction in the quasichemical model framework

Herein,a thermodynamic model aimed at describing deoxidation equilibria in liquid steel was *** model provides explicit forms of the activity coefficient of solutes in liquid steel,eliminating the need for the minimization of internal Gibbs energy preliminarily when solving deoxidation *** elimination of internal Gibbs energy minimization is particularly advantageous during the coupling of deoxidation equilibrium calculations with computationally intensive approaches,such as computational fluid *** model enables efficient calculations through direct embedment of the explicit forms of activity coefficient in the computing *** proposed thermodynamic model was developed using a quasichemical approach with two key approximations:random mixing of metallic elements(Fe and oxidizing metal) and strong nonrandom pairing of metal and oxygen as nearest *** these approximations,the quasichemical approach yielded the activity coefficients of solutes as explicit functions of composition and temperature without requiring the minimization of internal Gibbs energy or the coupling of separate *** model was successfully applied in the calculation of deoxidation equilibria of various elements(Al,B,C,Ca,Ce,Cr,La,Mg,Mn,Nb,Si,Ti,V,and Zr).The limitations of the model arising from these assumptions were also discussed.
