Two new saponins named asterlingulatosides A and B were isolated from the whole plants of Aster lingulatus. Their structures were elucidated by spectral and chemical evidence as 3-O-beta-D-glucopyranosyl-3 beta, 16 alpha-dihydroxy.l.an-12-en-28-oic acid -28-O-alpha-l-arabinopyranoside and 3-O-beta-D-glucopyranosyl-3 beta,16 alpha-dihydroxy.l.an-12-en-28-oic acid -28-O-alpha-l-rhamnopyranosyl-(1-->2)- alpha-l-arabinopyranoside respectively. They showed inhibitory activity on DNA synthesis of human leukemia Hl-60 cells.

Mutualistic interactions between ant and aphid species have been the subject of considerable historical and contemporary investigations, the primary benefits being clean- ing and protection for the aphids and carbohydrate-rich honeydew for the ants. Questions remained, however, as to the volatile semiochemical factor influencing this relationship. A recent study highlighted the role of bacterial honeydew volatile compounds in ant at- traction. Here, ant＇s ability to distantly discriminate 2 aphid species was investigated based on bacterial honeydew semiochemicals emissions using a two-way olfactometer. Both the mutualistic aphid Aphis fabae l. and the nonmyrmecophilous aphid Acyrthosiphon pisum Harris were found to be attractive for the ant lasius niger l. The level of attraction was similar in both assays （control vs. one of the aphid species）. However, when given a choice between these 2 aphid species, ants showed a significant preference for Aphis fabae. Honeydew volatiles, mostly from bacterial origins, are known to be a key element in ant attraction. Using the same olfactometry protocol, the relative attractiveness of volatiles emitted by honeydews collected from each aphid species and by bacteria isolated from each honeydew was investigated. Again, ants significantly preferred volatiles released by Aphis fabae honeydew and bacteria. This information suggests that microbial honeydew volatiles enable ants to distantly discriminate aphid species. These results strengthen the interest of studying the occurrence and potential impact of microorganisms in insect symbioses.

The pseudo-excitation method combined with the integral transform method (PEM-ITM) is presented to investigate the ground vibration of a coupled track-soil system induced by moving random loads. Commonly in the track model, the rail, sleepers, rail pads, and ballast are modelled as an infinite Euler beam, discretely distributed masses, discretely distributed vertical springs, and a viscoelastic layer, respectively. The soil is regarded as a homogenous isotropic half-space coupled with the track using the boundary condition at the surface of the ground. By introducing a pseudo-excitation, the random vibration analysis of the coupled system is converted into a harmonic analysis. The analytical form of evolutionary power spectral density responses of the simplified coupled track-soil system under a random moving load is derived in the frequency/wavenumber domain by PEM-ITM. In the numerical examples, the effects of different parameters, such as the moving speed, the soil properties, and the coherence of moving loads, on the ground response are investigated.

Power control problems for wireless communication networks are investigated in direct-sequence codedivision multiple-access （DS/CDMA） channels. It is shown that the underlying problem can be formulated as a constrained optimization problem in a stochastic framework. For effective solutions to this optimization problem in real time, recursive algorithms of stochastic approximation type are developed that can solve the problem with unknown system components. Under broad conditions, convergence of the algorithms is established by using weak convergence methods.

The electronic structures of (CdSe)n/(ZnSe)m strained-lager soperfattice (SlS) were investigated by the recursion method in the tight-bindiop opproximation. The total,local, and partial density of states were calculated for n=1, m=*** total density of states (TDOS) for bulk CdSe, ZnSe and n=1, 3, m=1, 3, 5, for SlS were *** energy, the band gap, the valence of an atom, and the ionization potential and the electron affinity were discassed.

In this paper a new method of interpretation of the Patterson diagram is described, It can be used to determine the structure of crystal without heavy *** this method to determine the structure of E. D. T. A., （CH2N（CH2COOH）2）2, we have obtained a good result. The crystals are monoclinic and the space group is C26h, with parameters: a=13.28, b=5.64, c=16.14, and β*=83°45′. The plane group of projection on （h,0,l） is P2. Each unit cell has four centres of symmetry.
