Disturbance during “Going into the Thick of Life”: Studies around Xu Guangyao Diary

As the key principle in the literary and artistic world of the Mao Zedong era,“going into the thick of life”is far more than a mere approach to discovering material and themes for writing.The path of“going into the thick of life”set upon the premise of“diving deep into work”stems from the two principles established together in Mao Zedong’s“Talks at the Yan’an Forum on Literature and Art”(Zai Yan’cm wenyi zuotanhui shang de jianghua)and the rectification movement:reform of revolutionaries and intellectuals through“combination with the masses of workers,peasants and soldiers,”and second,reform of revolutionary politics via the“mass line,”designed to trigger the creativity of the masses.Each of these two principles is the precondition of the other.on the one hand,“going into the thick of life”based on the premise of“diving deep into work”offers the subjective perspective of the revolutionaries deeply involved in the local social reform-their difficulties,frustrations,and necessary self-adjustments when revolutionary ideals and the subjective attitudes towards policies conflicted with the realities of practice.On the other hand,different from official chronicles and local archives,records of their actions and real observations provide us with a sort of experiential perspective from the grass-roots level which appears more rich,complete and vivid,enabling us to view the problems of revolution from the perspective of the social system in operation,on top of the possibility of seeing the society from the subjective stance of revolution.The detailed records of the 1953 cooperative establishment presented in Xu Guangyao riji(Xu Guangyao diary)offers us a fine example of a text about Agoing into the thick of life.^Despite the failure of his writing plan,all of the harassment and frustrations recorded in the diary possess special epistemological value,offering a clear-cut picture of the friction and interaction between the logic of real-life practice and the logic of action based upon ideology,which constituted the

The Historical and Literary Creation of an"Ideal Character":A Reexmination of the Image of Liang Shengbao

Among the series of characters created in Seventeen-Year Literature(1949-66),Liang Shengbao is a unique figure particularly worth studying.In Builders of a New Life(Chuangyeshi),Liu Qing attempts to presents his understanding of the realization of the agricultural cooperative movement through the narration of Liang Shengbao's traits and personality.As a consequence,the creation of Liang Shengbao,an ideal character,has both historical and literary meanings.Based on the analysis of Liu Qing's“writing method,"this paper reveal is the historical and literary creation mechanism of Liang Shengbao by comparing and interpreting the relationship,the writing method,and the differences between Liang Shengbao and other characters close to him,thus unfolding the research significance of this ideal character.

Development of the Supply Chain Oriented Quality Assurance System for Aerospace Manufacturing SMEs and Its Implementation Perspectives

Aerospace manufacturing SMEs are continuously facing the challenge on managing their supply chain and complying with the aerospace manufacturing quality standard requirement due to their lack of resources and the nature of business. In this paper, the ERP system based approach is presented to quality control and assurance work in light of seamless integration of in-process production data and information internally and therefore managing suppliers more effectively and efficiently. The Aerospace Manufacturing Quality Assurance Standard （BS/EN9100） is one of the most recognised and essential protocols for developing the industry-operated-and-driven quality assurance systems. The research investigates using the ERP based system as an enabler to implement BS/EN9100 quality management system at manufacturing SMEs and the associated implementation and application perspectives. An application case study on a manufacturing SME is presented by using the SAP based implementation, which helps fiarther evaluate and validate the approach and application system development.

Substantially lightweight brake discs with high wear resistance are highly desirable in the automotive industry.This paper presents an investigation of the precision-engineering design and development of automotive brake discs using nonhomogeneous Al/SiC metal-matrixcomposite materials.The design and development are based on modeling and analysis following stringent precision-engineering principles,i.e.,brake-disc systems that operate repeatably and stably over time as enabled by precision-engineering design.The design and development are further supported by tribological experimental testing and finite-element simulations.The results show the industrial feasibility of the innovative design approach and the application merits of using advanced metal-matrix-composite materials for next-generation automotive and electric vehicles.

On the Complexity of Computing the Topology of Real Algebraic Space Curves

This paper presents an algorithm to compute the topology of an algebraic space curve.This is a modified version of the previous algorithm.Furthermore,the authors also analyse the bit complexity of the algorithm,which is O(N^(20)),where N=max{d,τ},d andτare the degree bound and the bit size bound of the coefficients of the defining polynomials of the algebraic space curve.To our knowledge,this is the best bound among the existing work.It gains the existing results at least N^(2).Meanwhile,the paper contains some contents of the conference papers(CASC 2014 and SNC 2014).

Determining an optimal control strategy for anthropogenic VOC emissions in China based on source emissions and reactivity

An evidence-based control strategy for emission reduction of VOC sources can effectively solve the regional PM2.5and O3compound pollution in China.We estimated the anthropogenic VOC emission inventory in China in 2018 and established a source profile database containing 129 sources based on localized detection and the latest research results.Then,the distribution of the ozone formation potential(OFP)and secondary organic aerosol formation potential(SOAFP)for emission sources was analyzed.Moreover,priority control routes for VOC emission sources were proposed for different periods.Anthropogenic VOC emissions in China reached 27,211.8 Gg in 2018,and small passenger cars,industrial protective coatings,biomass burning,heavy trucks,printing,asphalt paving,oil storage and transportation,coking,and oil refining were the main contributors.Industrial protective coatings,small passenger cars,and biomass burning all contributed significantly to OFP and SOAFP.Priority in emission reduction control should be given to industrial protective coatings,small passenger cars,heavy trucks,coking,printing,asphalt paving,chemical fibers,and basic organic chemical sources over the medium and long term in China.In addition,the priority control route for VOC emission sources should be adjusted according to the variations in VOC emission characteristics and regional differences,so as to obtain the maximum environmental benefits.

Effect of boundary conditions on shakedown analysis of heterogeneous materials

The determination of the ultimate load-bearing capacity of structures made of elastoplastic heterogeneous materials under varying loads is of great importance for engineering analysis and design. Therefore, it is necessary to accurately predict the shakedown domains of these materials. The static shakedown theorem, also known as Melan's theorem, is a fundamental method used to predict the shakedown domains of structures and materials. Within this method, a key aspect lies in the construction and application of an appropriate self-equilibrium stress field(SSF). In the structural shakedown analysis, the SSF is typically constructed by governing equations that satisfy no external force(NEF) boundary conditions. However, we discover that directly applying these governing equations is not suitable for the shakedown analysis of heterogeneous materials. Researchers must consider the requirements imposed by the Hill-Mandel condition for boundary conditions and the physical significance of representative volume elements(RVEs). This paper addresses this issue and demonstrates that the sizes of SSFs vary under different boundary conditions, such as uniform displacement boundary conditions(DBCs), uniform traction boundary conditions(TBCs), and periodic boundary conditions(PBCs). As a result, significant discrepancies arise in the predicted shakedown domain sizes of heterogeneous materials. Built on the demonstrated relationship between SSFs under different boundary conditions, this study explores the conservative relationships among different shakedown domains, and provides proof of the relationship between the elastic limit(EL) factors and the shakedown loading factors under the loading domain of two load vertices. By utilizing numerical examples, we highlight the conservatism present in certain results reported in the existing literature. Simulation Based Energy-resource Efficient Manufacturing Integrated with In-process Virtual Management

As energy efficiency is one of the key essentials towards sustainability, the development of an energy-resource efficient manufacturing system is among the great challenges facing the current industry. Meanwhile, the availability of advanced technological innovation has created more complex manufacturing systems that involve a large variety of processes and machines serving different functions. To extend the limited knowledge on energy-efficient scheduling, the research presented in this paper attempts to model the production schedule at an operation process by considering the balance of energy consumption reduction in production, production work flow （productivity） and quality. An innovative systematic approach to manufacturing energy-resource efficiency is proposed with the virtual simulation as a predictive modelling enabler, which provides real-time manufacturing monitoring, virtual displays and decision-makings and consequentially an analytical and multidimensional correlation analysis on interdependent relationships among energy consumption, work flow and quality errors. The regression analysis results demonstrate positive relationships between the work flow and quality errors and the work flow and energy consumption. When production scheduling is controlled through optimization of work flow, quality errors and overall energy consumption, the energy-resource efficiency can be achieved in the production. Together, this proposed multidimensional modelling and analysis approach provides optimal conditions for the production scheduling at the manufacturing system by taking account of production quality, energy consumption and resource efficiency, which can lead to the key competitive advantages and sustainability of the system operations in the industry.

Research on prediction model of formation temperature of ammonium bisulfate in air preheater of coal-fired power plant

Ammonium bisulfate(ABS)is a viscous compound produced by the escape NH_(3) in the NO reduction process and SO_(3) in the flue gas at a certain temperature,which can cause the ash corrosion of the air preheater in coal-fired power plants.Therefore,it is essential to study the formation temperature of ABS to prevent the deposition of ABS in air preheaters.In this paper,the SO_(3) reaction kinetic model is used to analyze the SO_(3) generation process from coal combustion to the selective catalytic reduction(SCR)exit stage,and the kinetic model of NO reduction is used to analyze the NH_(3) escape process.A prediction model for calculating the ABS formation temperature based on the S content in coal and NO reduction parameters of the SCR is proposed,solving the difficulty of measuring SO_(3) concentration and NH_(3) concentration in the previous calculation equation of ABS formation temperature.And the reliability of the model is verified by the actual data of the power plant.Then the influence of S content in coal,NH_(3)/NO_(x) molar ratio,different NO_(x) concentrations at SCR inlet,and NO removal efficiency on the formation temperature of ABS are analyzed.

Nonlinear Numerical Analysis of Vortex-Induced Vibration of A Three-Dimensional Deepwater Steep Wave Riser with Large Deformation Features

The cross-flow(CF)vortex-induced vibration(VIV)of a deepwater steep wave riser(SWR)subjected to uniform or shear flow loads is investigated numerically.The model is based on a three-dimensional(3D)nonlinear elastic rod theory coupled with a wake oscillator model.In this numerical simulation,the nonlinear motion equations of the riser with large deformation features are established in a global coordinate system to avoid the transformation between global and local coordinate systems,and are discretized with the time-domain finite element method(FEM).A wakeoscillator model is employed to study the vortex shedding,and the lift force generated by the wake flow is described in a van der Pol equation.A Newmark-βiterative scheme is used to solve their coupling equation for the VIV response of the SWR.The developed model is validated against the existing experimental results for the VIV response of the top-tension riser(TTR).Then,the numerical simulations are executed to determine VIV characteristics of the SWR.The effects of both flow velocity and the spanwise length of the flow field on the drag coefficient in the inline(IL)direction and the lift coefficient in the CF direction are investigated systematically.The results indicate that compared with TTR,the low frequency and multi-modal vibration are the main components of the SWR due to the large deformation and flexible characteristics.For shear flow,the multi-frequency resonance dominates the VIV response of the SWR,especially at the hang-off segment.
